The tone from the RIGHT gets even worse - NAKED HATRED replaces ridicule

“Voting is your right. At least for now.” says Roger Simon this AM. Really? Just call him Hitler then and complain about missing BUSHITLER. AYFKM?

That line is EXACTLY why this campaign is exactly the way it is.

No one is attacking Trump on his plans.

Is he a charlatan with ideas of how things ought to be and scant thought of how to get there?
Has he looked and read and is ready and is now just play acting to what he know the American people want?

I’ve seen a lot of people I respected LOSE it completely until finally they attack the people. The voters. BIG HUGE ERROR. Fundamental error. Error of the final moment error. The PEOPLE are STUPID(?)

In November if Trump actually wins you’ll be seeing this from the Democrats as well.

What’s been reached has been obvious to me since day 1.

The crazed ideology followed in the last 8 yrs from the executive has made this moment obvious
From the lackluster responses of McCain, and a Romney who apparently scared himself in the 1st debate of 2012, to the scared reactions of McConnell and the final budget busting actions of Ryan, this moment has been obvious.

From the moment US Steel complained of cheap Japanese steel coming into the USA ~1979 this moment has been coming.

From the moment NAFTA passed this moment has been coming.

From the moment the CONSERVATIVES tied themselves to the ideologically pure idea of no regulation (hey, Greenspan you having a good time?) in the mortgage security derivative market, this moment has been coming.

From the moment CATO, and the Federalist, and National Review (WIlliamson, you out there?), and HILLARY, and WIlliam Kristol etc, told American workers, ‘tough shit, cowboy up and find a new Dunkin to work part time in until you will accept wages in like those in Mayasia’, this moment has been coming.

From the moment the Conservative Movement lost connection with the people and adopted a stance as if utopian communism could never be reached but Galt’s Gulch COULD be reached this moment has been coming.

From the moment the conservatives, in their hearts, in the moment in the dark as they fell asleep wondered if maybe the democrats were right, that they held women in contempt, black folks in contempt, asians yadda yadda… this moment has been coming.

And now we are here.

Did this guy pander to segregationist votes while he had an orthodox jewish daughter like any politician or was he like FDR manipulating those around him to the final goal of saving the USA?
Did this guy rip off people who went to Trump U or did he rent his name out and just exhibit only a lack of care?

Does he really dislike women, or was he on show in  different persona (Howard Stern in some instances quoted) and then promote THOUSANDS of women, blacks, asians etc on MERIT not even knowing their color?

I don't know. I don't like that I don't know.

But the reaction of the 'true’ conservatives who manufactured this moment by their insouciant disregard of the people, ESPECIALLY over the free trade issue and its RESULTS, I find DISGUSTING.

I’m no huge Trump booster.

But those who LED the right to this moment need to SFTU and LISTEN. Not lecture and threaten.
I see NO ONE in the conservative movement right now, LISTENING, and conceptualizing what OUGHT to be a movement that captures the USA for the next 25-50 years.

I hear and see only invective

I see incomparable LOSERS there.

I see a scary guy, with a big mouth, and some COMMON SENSE ideas getting the nomination. He’s not my first choice, but the rest are choices 8,9, and 10, and Hillary is MORE OF THE LAST 8 YEARS. Too damn bad about Bernie last night. Too damn bad.

So get lost conservative ideologues, in the end you’re no different from useless intelligentsia arguing over Stalin vs Trotsky, and have lost your impact.

Just another institution that has lost the public trust.

Now there are 2 ways you can go. One of them leads to renewal while Trump is doing his thing, and you have time to think, the other leads to 50 years of progressive rule.

DECIDE

Good stuff, Epa. Great essay.

I don't get this part, however. You write - From the moment the conservatives, in their hearts, in the moment in the dark as they fell asleep wondered if maybe the democrats were right, that they held women in contempt, black folks in contempt, asians yadda yadda… this moment has been coming.

I RESPOND - I don't think Republicans are concerned with those issues. But to me, it's clear that, if anyone in American political life holds these groups in contempt, it is the Democrats, who see answers in chow lines and handouts, but never in "a rising tide lifts all boats."

Obviously, the Republicans have also forgotten that credo.

Trump knows it. It is Trump.

I am, however, very concerned that the man has not thought through his plans very well. He seems to improvise. The only thing he really seems good at is knowing what the people want, and knowing how to make the deals to get it.

That's not enough to run the most powerful nation in the world.

Pasto. I guess Obama has set the bar so low as President that even Trump looks good. What can you say. What a state we have become.

Here's is my hypothesis on your question, Pasto

We in here believe when a tree falls in the forest there is a sound 100% of the time. That's objective reality

The democrats and many other believe that PERCEPTION is reality, thus they have endeavored to convince the groups they pander to that not only are THEY the only ones who understand the groups' problems, but that the republicans are evil.

This has gone on for so long, that even republicans worry they are on the wrong side of certain disputes.

Thus they convince themselves they can only win by being more amenable in undefined ways to these groups.

This has gone so far that the answer to racism is not to take no notice of color or heritage, but to begin by saying our color or lack of it has earned certain largesse or further responsibilities.

So certain republicans now wonder in the dark if they are wrong and had better change.

OK.

Yes, I see now, Epa.

The Republican Party is rife with that kind of madness.
