Russians blame American Hockey ref for EPIC CHOKE

Russia blasted American referee Brad Meier Saturday for disallowing a goal that would have given them a lead late in their Olympic Games hockey clash they eventually lost to the USA in a shootout.
"The referee made a mistake," said Russian coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov following the Russians 3-2 loss to the Americans in a preliminary round contest.
"Of course, it would have been more effective to have a different judge."
The goal was OFF ITS POST before the goal was scored and NO GOAL ANYWHERE is allowable in that circumstance.

US army builds fake city to shoot at during training

Rumor is, the Mailbox in front of
one of the houses reads, "Pastorius"

From the Telegraph:
The US army has built a fake city designed to be used during combat training exercises. The 300 acre 'town' includes a five story embassy, a bank, a school, an underground subway and train station, a mosque, a football stadium, and a helicopter landing zone.
Located in Virginia, the realistic subway station comes complete with subway carriages and the train station has real train carriages.
The subway carriages even carry the same logo as the carriages in Washington DC
There are also bridges and several other structures which can be transformed into different scenarios.

Merkel, Hollande to discuss possible European communication network that avoids U.S.

From Reuters:
BERLIN (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Saturday she would talk to French President Francois Hollande about building up a European communication network to avoid emails and other data passing through the United States.
Merkel, speaking on Saturday ahead of a visit to France, has been pushing for greater data protection in Europe following reports last year about mass surveillance in Germany and elsewhere by the U.S. National Security Agency.
Even Merkel's cell phone was reportedly monitored by American spies. Merkel said in her weekly podcast she disapproved of companies like Google and Facebook basing their operations in countries with low safeguards on data protection while being active in countries like Germany with high data protection.
"We'll talk with France about how we can maintain a high level of data protection," Merkel said before her visit to Paris on Wednesday. "Above all, we'll talk about European providers that offer security for our citizens, so that one shouldn't have to send emails and other information across the Atlantic. Rather one could build up a communication network inside Europe."
Government snooping is a particularly sensitive subject in Germany due to the heavy surveillance of citizens practiced in the Communist East Germany and under Hitler. The country was shocked by reports of NSA surveillance in Germany, based on information from former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. "We've got to do more for data protection in Europe, there's no doubt about it," Merkel said on Saturday.

Califorinia Drought Is Not About ‘Climate Change’ – It’s About Failed Liberal Policy

From Gateway Pundit:

In December 2008, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued what is known as a “biological opinion” imposing water reductions on the San Joaquin Valley and environs to safeguard the federally protected hypomesus transpacificus, a.k.a., the delta smelt. As a result, tens of billions of gallons of water from mountains east and north of Sacramento was channelled away from farmers and into the ocean, leaving hundreds of thousands of acres of arable land fallow or scorched.

Democrats created a dust bowl based on junk science.
A federal judge later ruled the liberal study that forced California officials to cutback on water to the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta was based on faulty science.
But the liberal policy remains.
Now this…
The current drought in California is not about global warming – it’s about failed Democrat policies.
Investor’s Business Daily reported:
President Obama visited California’s drought-hit Central Valley Friday, offering handouts and blaming global warming. But the state’s water shortage is due to the left’s refusal to deal with the state’s water needs.

Let's be clear: We really are going through a drought here in California. It has hardly rained for the past several years. For someone like me, who LOVES rain, it is sad.

But, of course, water policy could be handled more effectively. And, to find that our stupid Democrat-controlled government is mismanaging water based on Junk Science is both maddening and, at the same time, not the least surprising.

And apparently one of them is a physicist

Americans are enthusiastic about the promise of science but lack basic knowledge of it, with one in four unaware that the Earth revolves around the Sun, said a poll out Friday.

The survey included more than 2,200 people in the United States and was conducted by the National Science Foundation.

Ten questions about physical and biological science were on the quiz, and the average score — 6.5 correct — was barely a passing grade.

Just 74 percent of respondents knew that the Earth revolved around the Sun, according to the results released at the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Chicago.
And then ….

During the February 13 broadcast of CBS This Morning, host Charlie Rose and his guest turned to the topic of this year’s harsh winter, calling the extreme cold an example of global warming.

Guest Michio Kaku, a physics professor from New York City College—not a climatologist, but a physicist—claimed that the “wacky weather” could get “even wackier” and its all because of global warming. “What we’re seeing is that the jet stream and the polar vortex are becoming unstable. Instability of historic proportions. We think it’s because of the gradual heating up of the North Pole. The North Pole is melting,” professor Kaku said.
"That excess heat generated by all this warm water is destabilizing this gigantic bucket of cold air… So that’s the irony, that heating could cause gigantic storms of historic proportions," the prof explained.
This was all because of global warming, Rose insisted.
So we don’t know where the sun is, however, the geniuses do know when it’s too warm it’s global warming and when it’s too cold it’s global warming.
Maybe these are the people who created healthcare.gov and the new healthcare tax?

Canadian Idol Contestant Switches From Singing to Terrorism And Violent Jihad (Video)

From Gateway Pundit:
Former Canadian Idol contestant Khurram Sher switched from entertainment to violent jihad.
The doctor of pathology from London, Ontario is being tried on a terrorism charge.
Here’s Khurram Sher singing Complicated by Avril Lavigne:

The National Post reported, via Jihad Watch:
In a secretly-recorded conversation played publicly for the first time Tuesday, accused terrorism collaborator Khurram Sher discusses bomb making and appears to suggest a repatriation ceremony at Canadian Forces Base Trenton as a possible target.
The conversation between the 31-year-old Montreal-born pathologist and two alleged co-conspirators then turns to their bearded appearances, which brings a suggestion from Dr. Sher that they might shave and “wear Canadian colours.” To which one of his alleged co-conspirators responds: “We’ll break their backs in their own country.”
During the July 20, 2010 conversation, recorded by the RCMP using microphones hidden in the apartment where the trio met, Dr. Sher also speaks of the ease with which he could buy components for bomb making.
“I can just go to, like, a hardware store and buy a few things to build a bomb. I’m sure it’s possible.”
Crown prosecutor Jason Wakely had told the court earlier that the conversation shows that Dr. Sher and his alleged associates were bent on “violent jihad.”
Dr. Sher is pleading not guilty to conspiring with two others to facilitate a terrorist activity, which police have alleged also involved a possible bomb attack in the Ottawa area. His trial in an Ottawa courtroom began Monday.

CBS: Extreme Cold Caused by 'Excess Heat'

Belgium - Again antisemitic incident on train "Ladies and gentlemen, you are on the train to Auschwitz"

From Will at THE OTHER NEWS:

Belgium - Again antisemitic incident on train ""Ladies and gentlemen, you are on the train to Auschwitz."HT: JoodsActueel.

"Ladies and gentlemen, you are on the train to Auschwitz. All Jews are asked to step out to take a little shower" rail passengers were told on the Brussels-Liège on 31 January via the public address system on the train. The train was approaching the station at the time of Ottignies. SNCB confirmed the facts.

A Jewish passenger aboard this train reported the incident to the Brussels MR politician Vivivane TeitelbaumTeitelbaum put the story of this recent incident on her blog after another traveler let her know that this kind of "plaisanteries" often heard on this train. "Apparently the 'young people' have a key to the cabinet with the public address system accesses".

In the spring of 2012 there was a similar incident on the train when the passengers were told that they were welcome on the train to Auschwitz and that all Jews were asked to step out at Buchenwald. SNCB then promised to take measures to prevent a recurrence.

NMBS spokesman Bart Crols said in a reaction to Jewish News that the closet with the public address system was indeed closed, but that the perpetrators despite of the increased vigilance did manage to 'break open' the closet. Yet the NMBS now two weeks later still filed no complaint for this intrusion. Our question is how this is possible let spokesperson Crols know that before a complaint is filed, the railway company to follow its own internal procedures. Our observation that this is ridiculous because you report a burglary immediately and file a complaint with the police or an investigating judge Crols responded: "I need to find out whether the complaint meanwhile is effective written down and i'll let you know" then we are nothing more SNCB heard.

Editor Michael Freilich said, "it is increasingly clear that the minister should intervene. And a complaint to the Centre for Equal Opportunities has no sense. When it comes to anti-Semitism CEOOR will be sweeping the incident under the carpet or you slide them on the back burner. "

Tens Of Thousands, In Massive Civil Disobedience, Fail To Register Rifles In Connecticut In Accordance With New Law

From the Blaze:
On Jan. 1, 2014, tens of thousands of defiant gun owners seemingly made the choice not to register their semi-automatic rifles with the state of Connecticut as required by a hastily-passed gun control law.
By possessing unregistered so-called “assault rifles,” they all technically became guilty of committing Class D felonies overnight. Police had received 47,916 applications for “assault weapons certificates” and 21,000 incomplete applications as of Dec. 31, Lt. Paul Vance told The Courant.
At roughly 50,000 applications, officials estimate that as little as 15 percent of the covered semi-automatic rifles have actually been registered with the state.
“No one has anything close to definitive figures, but the most conservative estimates place the number of unregistered assault weapons well above 50,000, and perhaps as high as 350,000,” the report states.

Report: Obama Offers UN Climate Agreement That Doesn’t Need Congressional Approval

Regime Change Will Be Necessary

From the Daily Caller:
The Obama administration is quietly forging ahead with plans to offer up an international commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to fight global warming — without congressional approval.
Reuters reports that the U.S. submitted its vision for a new international global warming agreement to the United Nations on Wednesday, suggesting a “bifurcated approach” of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol — placing different emissions targets for rich and poor countries.
“So this is just the latest example of President Obama’s contempt for obeying the Constitution and our laws,” Myron Ebell, director of the Center of Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “In the past, rulers who act as if the law does not apply to them were called tyrants.”
Annie Petsonk, international counsel to the Environmental Defense Fund, noted that the U.S. plan was legally different than the Kyoto Protocol — it doesn’t require congressional approval.
The U.S. Constitution says that the president “shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate” to make treaties with other countries. The 1997 Kyoto Protocol had to be ratified by Congress — and it never was, even though the Clinton administration signed onto it.

How I Helped a Young Man Understand a Central Fact About the Koran

Earlier tonight I worked late and gave one of my workmates a ride home. On the way, I was telling him about a book I am reading: The Pirate Coast. I said, "It's an interesting story and well-written. You know the Marines Hymn? From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli? The book is about how the United States Marines defeated Tripoli and why. Do you know the story?"

"No, I don't think so," he replied. "Where's Tripoli?"

"It's where Libya is now. Used to be called Tripoli. This is back in the early 1800s. It's North Africa, along the coast of the Mediterranean. The countries along the whole North African coast had been conquered by Muslim warriors centuries before, and they were all making pretty good money capturing ships traveling off their coast. There have always been lots of ships carrying goods to and fro in the Mediterranean. So these pirates would seize ships, take all the goods and the ships and then either ransom the crew or enslave them. When a country complained, they said, 'We will not attack ships from your country if you pay us this much money per year.' Eleven European countries took this deal. And the United States also paid the tribute money because they didn't have a navy to speak of, so they couldn't defend themselves militarily. We were a new country and didn't have much money, and paying the tribute was cheaper than raising a navy."

I'm a fast talker and he seemed to be enjoying the story, so I kept going. I should mention that he and I have never talked about Islam before. He was relatively new at work and he and I had excellent rapport.

The reason I'm telling you this story is that I realized afterward that I had given him some important basic information about Islam without him ever even knowing that's what I was doing. He is very laid back, and kind of reminds me of a younger version of The Dude from The Big Lebowski — kind of a live-and-let-live sort of fellow, and if I had come at him head-on with information about Islamic doctrine, I feel sure he would have resisted. But I didn't do that and he didn't resist, and I don't think he will ever look at Islam the same way again.

Anyway, I told him, "The story takes place when Thomas Jefferson was president. But before he became president, he was the American ambassador to France and he met the ambassador to Tripoli. He and John Adams sat down with Tripoli's ambassador and asked him, 'Why does your country attack our ships? We've never done anything to you.' The ambassador said, 'Our Koran commands us to make war on the infidels.'

"Jefferson found this hard to believe, so he bought a copy of the Koran and read it. As far as I know, he's the only president who ever did this. I read the Koran myself, and let me tell you, it is a shocker. Jefferson found out that the Tripoli ambassador was telling the truth. It is a Muslim's duty to make war on infidels until the whole world is Islamic. It is not optional, according to the Koran. It is an obligation of all Muslims."

My workmate looked surprised at this, but I didn't pause. I said, "So when Jefferson became president, he knew that Tripoli was not someone the U.S. would be able to negotiate with. There was no 'working things out' like he might do with a European country. So he started finding the funds to build up a navy powerful enough to defeat Tripoli.

"But the book is really about a guy named William Eaton, who was very bothered by the fact that the United States was paying tribute. It irked him to no end, and he came up with a plan to defeat Tripoli, and against all odds, and through the most unlikely alliances and through sheer determination, he and a small number of Marines managed to actually do it. It's a great book. History is always stranger than you'd expect."

Of all the different ways I have used to help my fellow non-Muslim citizens understand Islamic doctrine, this method has consistently worked the best: Simply talk about an interesting book I'm currently reading, and add in a few fundamental facts in the middle in such a way that they don't want to argue with me because they want to hear the rest of the story. So they are left with this disturbing piece of information about Islamic doctrine, delivered in a very convincing manner (in this case, the Koran's ugly secrets were confirmed by Thomas Jefferson and me), and all done within a context of good rapport and in a way that remains completely non-confrontational.

This won't work for every circumstance or every person, certainly, but when it happens, it is a beautiful thing.

BREAKING NEWS - Ninth Circuit, a Generally Liberal-Leaning Appeals Court Often Called "The Ninth Circus," Finds that the Right to Bear (Carry) Arms is Enshrined in the Constitution; The State May Prohibit Open Carry, or Concealed Carry, But Not Both

Ladies, This Is The Time To Take Out The Tits

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A divided federal appeals court has struck down California's concealed weapons rules, saying they violate the Second Amendment right to bear arms.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Thursday that California is wrong to require applicants to show good cause to receive a permit to carry a concealed weapon. The court ruled that all law-abiding citizens are entitled to carry concealed weapons outside the home for self-defense purposes.
The divided three-judge panel disagreed with two other federal appeals courts that have upheld permit rules similar to California's.
The U.S. Supreme Court often takes cases when federal appeals courts issue conflicting rulings.
The Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that law-abiding citizens can keep handguns in the home for self-defense purposes, but didn't address whether that right extends outside the home.

US Embassy Official in Cairo Arrested for Ties With Muslim Brotherhood

Obama Is Being Unfairly Characterized As An Islamic Sympathizer

Haaretz reported:
An Egyptian employee of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo has been detained by local authorities for nearly three weeks without charges, an embassy official said Wednesday.
Ahmed Aleiba, an Egyptian citizen who works at the embassy, was arrested on January 25, the third anniversary of the uprising that deposed former President Hosni Mubarak in 2011, Moufid Deak, spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, said.
“We are trying to learn more about the circumstances of his arrest,” Deak said, adding that the embassy is in touch with Egyptian authorities.
A security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, confirmed Aleiba’s arrest.
Military-aligned newspaper Al-Watan published an article in July mentioning Aleiba as an employee who arranged meetings between visiting American government officials and Muslim Brotherhood deputy head Khairat el-Shater.
The government has cracked down on the group since former Islamist President Mohammed Morsi was removed from power by a coup in July. Late last year, the Egyptian government declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization.
A State Department spokeswoman in Washington on Wednesday confirmed that embassy officials have been in regular contact with Brotherhood officials, the Washington Post reported.

American Freedom Of The Press In Decline

According to Breitbart's Big Journalism:
According to Reporters Without Borders, America dropped 13 spots on the World Press Freedom Index 2014, designed to rank 180 countries in terms of the freedoms journalists enjoy and the regulations placed on them by government authorities.

The Index, published Feb. 11, shows that America now ranks number 46, below countries like South Africa and France. The Index has been published annually since 2002, but the 2014 ranking for America marks one of the most significant declines ever reported....
At Jihad Watch, Robert Spencer makes the following observation:
Mr. Spencer then refers to Allen Drury's 1973 novel Come Nineveh, Come Tyre.  Mr. Spencer pointed out:
[In Come Nineveh, Come Tyre] The media adores President Jason, cheerleads for him energetically, defames and denigrates his foes relentlessly, and does everything it can to make him look good, right up until the point when a few of them realize that the freedom of speech is gone...
President Jason of Come Nineveh, Come Tyre is given to fantasy-based policymaking.

If you have read that book — or even if you haven't — please read the entire post at Jihad Watch.

Yes, some of us are pushing back. Especially here in the blogosphere. But the mainstream media clang on, and it seems to me that most voters do get most of their "news" from the mainstream media.

How much effect is our pushing back really having?

Are we living in America anymore?  Or are we living in a caricature of America?

Muslim Tries to Apply for Spousal Benefits for 12-Year-Old Wife… in Australia

They met at the local Mosque.

From Daniel Greenfield at Front Page:

An alleged underage marriage was uncovered this week when a 12-year-old child bride and her 26-year-old husband tried to apply for spousal benefits, according to government sources.
Centrelink sources say the girl was removed from the home she shared with her 26-year-old “husband” hours after enquiring about what support would be available to a spousal visa holder on Wednesday morning.
The man was arrested by detectives from the Child Abuse Squad and charged with 25 counts of sexual intercourse with a child.
Newcastle Muslim Association president Bikash “Shahriar” Paul said the accused man was an “occasional” worshipper at a mosque in the Hunter Valley region north of Sydney, where he met the girl.
The girl’s father — who converted to Islam about 18 years ago following a battle with drugs, gambling and alcohol abuse
Detectives investigating the case said the father was ”shocked” that his daughter’s 26-year-old husband was arrested and charged with more than two dozen child sex offences last week.
Police will allege the girl was married to the accused during an Islamic ceremony in her father’s backyard. But detectives say their union was not official.

The ‘poor’ are the rich Jesus warned you about

There is no material poverty in the U.S.
What we have in our nation are dependency and poverty of the spirit, with people making unwise choices and leading pathological lives aided and abetted by the welfare state.
The Census Bureau pegs the poverty rate among blacks at 35 percent and among whites at 13 percent. The illegitimacy rate among blacks is 72 percent, and among whites it’s 30 percent. A statistic that one doesn’t hear much about is that the poverty rate among black married families has been in the single digits for more than two decades, currently at 8 percent. For married white families, it’s 5 percent.
Now the politically incorrect questions: Whose fault is it to have children without the benefit of marriage and risk a life of dependency? Do people have free will, or are they governed by instincts?
No one can blame a person if he starts out in life poor, because how one starts out is not his fault. If he stays poor, he is to blame because it is his fault. Avoiding long-term poverty is not rocket science. First, graduate from high school. Second, get married before you have children, and stay married. Third, work at any kind of job, even one that starts out paying the minimum wage.
And finally, avoid engaging in criminal behavior.

Scientists Say Laser Has Produced Nuclear Fusion

Scientists Say Laser Has Produced Nuclear Fusion...
Scientists in California said on Wednesday night that they have for the first time managed to release more energy from their nuclear fusion experiment than they put into it, which marks a critical threshold in eventually achieving the goal of a self-sustaining nuclear-fusion reaction.
Nuclear fusion uses a fuel source derived from water and produces none of the more dangerous and long-lasting isotopes, such as enriched uranium and plutonium, that result from conventional nuclear power plants, which rely on the fission or splitting of atoms rather than their fusion.
Researchers involved in the Nuclear Ignition Facility (NIF) at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory said that they have used 192 laser beams to compress a tiny fuel pellet less than half the diameter of a human hair in such a way that it triggered the net release of energy by nuclear fusion.

The fuel, composed of the two hydrogen isotopes tritium and deuterium derived from water, was compressed together under enormous pressures and temperatures for less than a billionth of a second, but this was enough to see more energy coming out of the experiment than went into it.
“We are fusing deuterium and tritium, which are isotopes of water, in a way that gets them to run together at high enough speed to overcome their natural electrical repulsion to each other,” said Omar Hurricane of the Livermore laboratory.
“We are finally, by harnessing these reactions, getting more energy out of these reactions than we are putting into the deuterium-tritium fuel... We took a step back from what we tried before and in the process took a leap forward,” said Dr Hurricane, who led the NIF study published in the journal Nature.

Not a ‘Smidgen’ of Corruption… Vulnerable Dems Push IRS to Crack Down on Conservative Groups

I Will Grind The Serfs Into Dust

From Gateway Pundit:

Vulnerable Democrats are once again pushing the IRS to crackdown on conservative groups.
The Hill reported:
Senate Democrats facing tough elections this year want the Internal Revenue Service to play a more aggressive role in regulating outside groups expected to spend millions of dollars on their races.
In the wake of the IRS targeting scandal, the Democrats are publicly prodding the agency instead of lobbying them directly. They are also careful to say the IRS should treat conservative and liberal groups equally, but they’re concerned about an impending tidal wave of attack ads funded by GOP-allied organizations. Much of the funding for those groups is secret, in contrast to the donations lawmakers collect, which must be reported publicly.
One of the most powerful groups is Americans for Prosperity, funded by the billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch. It has already spent close to $30 million on ads attacking Democrats this election cycle.
“If they’re claiming the tax relief, the tax benefit to be a nonprofit for social relief or social justice, then that’s what they should be doing,” said Sen. Mark Begich (D), who faces a competitive race in Alaska. “If it’s to give them cover so they can do political activity, that’s abusing the tax code. And either side.”
Asked if the IRS should play a more active role policing political advocacy by groups that claim to be focused on social welfare, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) responded, “Absolutely.”
“Both on the left and the right,” she said. “As taxpayers, we should not be providing a write-off to groups to do political activity, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
She called the glut of political spending by self-described social welfare groups that qualify under section 501(c)(4) of the tax code “outrageous.”
Shaheen is in a good position now but could find herself embroiled in a tight campaign if former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) challenges her.
Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.), the most vulnerable Democratic incumbent, said the IRS has jurisdiction over 501(c)(4) groups, as well as charities, which fall under section 501(c)(3) of the tax code and sometimes engage in quasi-political activity.

It was said of him, ‘if HE did steroids, we need a new league’

He only had 100 RBI’s ONCE, because he was more valuable at lead-off or batting 2nd.
A .312 lifetime hitter.
He endured criticism when he won Gold Gloves(4) for near perfect play because others said he could not make an error on balls he was too slow to reach.
Across 17 years he averaged being on the field for 120 of 162 games.
He has a .308 postseason batting average, and .321 in SEVEN World Series. 8 times he hit over .400 in the postseason.
3,316 hits so far. His 3000th hit was a home run.
He saved the Yankees into the world series with one of the most memorable (thinking and then reacting) defensive plays (THE FLIP) against the Oakland Athletics with Yankees down 3-1 in games and the series on the line on that play.
His swan into the stands in one of the greatest regular season games ever played is an icon of his effort every day.
His fielding running away from the infield and throw in rotation to first has been attempted  by many, but so far….
Severely injured 3 times.
He never was the MVP, despite hitting .343.
He will never achieve his dream of as many rings as Yogi.
And he was on second for the late tag THAT night
And he never complained about a damn thing.
Derek Jeter announced yesterday this season would be his last.
He will be remembered in the same breath as the Gehrig’s for his contribution to the sport, the team and a life.
And if he DID steroids, we DO need a new league.
