NBA Player Dion Waiters Doesn't Want To Stand For National Anthem Because He's Muslim - UPDATED AT BOTTOM OF POST

I'm a Muslim, Not An American

SBNation: Dion Waiters skipped national anthem for religious reasons (Islam)

Waiters informed Northeast Ohio Media Group that he is a Muslim and that he plans to excuse himself prior to the national anthem from here on out.

"It's because of my religion," Waiters told NEOMG. "That's why I stayed in the locker room."

Waiters says he is rededicating himself more to his Muslim faith. He appears to be in a happier state.
[snip]
Waiters is not the first NBA player to forego standing for the anthem because of his Muslim faith. Nuggets guard Mahmoud Abdul-Raouf famously drew a one-game suspension from the NBA for his refusal to stand.

UPDATE ---

DION WAITERS CATEGORICALLY DENIES THE STORY.

Does he play for free? Because if all this is for Islam, taking infidel money is sure a greater offense than taking part in the national anthem.

What I am getting at is that he isn't just skipping it because he is "rededicating himself more to his Muslim faith". He is skipping it because as a Muslim your loyalty is only to Islam.

At a time when America is "supposedly" fighting against ISIS, the purest form of Islam practiced right now, I can totally understand why this worthless piece of shit is throwing his lot with barbarians like him and showing his anti American attitude for all to see.

I do think though that he should get a paycheck of $0 dollars until he learns to respect the nation that made him who he is. Or better yet, the team should buy him a one way ticket to ISIS-land and let him widen his ass for Allah like he wants to do.

Can't he justify his taking money from the Infidel as being War booty or Jizya, or something like that?

Don't you think that's how guys like Anjem Choudhary justify taking welfare from the western governments?

Yes he definitely can and probably does (although you'd have to twist it a bit because Jizya in Islam has to be done in a way that humiliates those from the people of the Book who don't accept Islam - but then again, this is Islam, there's really no logic to anything as long as it sounds like you're doing something for the sake of Allah its all good).

And Muzzies will always have an upper hand in Western societies until people wake up and treat these vermin like enemy combatants/financial backers that they are.

He denies it. See the update at the link.

However, the article also states this:

Nuggets guard Mahmoud Abdul-Raouf famously drew a one-game suspension from the NBA for his refusal to stand.

Found this:

There's the time Abdul-Rauf took a stand for what he believed in. Well, stand isn't quite right.

The wispy-thin point guard decided at the beginning of the 1995-96 season that he would not stand and salute the United States flag during the national anthem before games. Few noticed this for a long time. Abdul-Rauf would just stretch for the entirety of the song or stand there with his hands on his hips, never making eye contact with Betsy Ross's greatest work of art.
