As usual, Maher takes a cheap shot at Texas (conservatives) by saying the failure to communicate Duncan's travel history is typical of Texans who disdain "regulations and revenuers." Miscommunication in the nation's health systems is responsible for 120,000 deaths per year according to published studies by safety experts at John Hopkins. So it's pervasive; not just in Texas. Secondly, he blasts the hospital admin who "made the nurse go" into that room inadequately prepared. If a nurse doesn't know she needs to be fully covered up when dealing with ebola patients, that's on the nurse, not the hospital. Nobody "made" her go in unprepared. Maher is a biased, babbling buffoon.
The accusation of "Miscommunication" is an f'n nonstarter. Duncan CHOSE NOT TO DISCLOSE his exposure to Ebola to hospital staff. Telling them he was from Liberia was not enough. Medical professionals compute countless details from each medical history provided by each patient. To expect a medical professional in an untested (for Ebola) facility to GUESS that a given patient may have been exposed to a virus not yet introduced to the entire nation prior this patient is insanity.
Ultimately, the consequence fell where it belonged as Duncan paid the price for his silence.
Now as for the arrogant prick with the soothing British accent . . .what duplicitous chutzpah! Complaining that the West was implorably late in addressing Ebola in West Africa yet pompously stating the West is unwarranted in it's alarm about Ebola surfacing on our shores! As if densely populated Western metro centers are somehow immune to the spread of this virus because we have modern medical facilitiies?! Once the virus spreads that still only gives the victim a 50/50 shot at surviving! Rather than risk infecting a single individual in an otherwise unexposed population, STOP ALL FLIGHTS OUT OF WESTERN AFRICAN EBOLA HOT SPOTS NOW! Morons, the lot of them!
