Breaking: Obama Issues Executive Order Halting Deportations of Younger Illegal Immigrants, Will Be Given Work Permits

What is this President not able to do with an Executive Order?

Via ThinkProgress:
President Obama will announce a new immigration policy this morning that will allow some undocumented students to avoid deportation and receive work authorization.
Under the president’s “deferred action” executive order, students in the U.S. who are already in deportation proceedings or those who qualify for the DREAM Act and have yet to come forward to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials, will not be deported and will be allowed to work in the United States.
An estimated 1 million young people could benefit from the deferral. To be eligible, applicants have to be between 15 and 30 years old, live in the U.S. for five years, and maintain continuous U.S. residency. People who have one felony, one serious misdemeanor, or three minor misdemeanors will be ineligible to apply. “Deferred action” will last for two years and can be renewed.
Obama is expected to speak about this new policy later today.
Update:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have since led law-abiding lives. The election-year initiative addresses a top priority of an influential Latino electorate that has been vocal in its opposition to administration deportation policies.
The policy change, described to The Associated Press by two senior administration officials, will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants who have lived in fear of deportation. It also bypasses Congress and partially achieves the goals of the so-called DREAM Act, a long-sought but never enacted plan to establish a path toward citizenship for young people who came to the United States illegally but who have attended college or served in the military.

If this is done by mere Presidential decree, then I would think it could be also undone by decree.
I thought our laws were made by The CONGRESS (the peoples representatives) per the rules laid out in our CONSTITUTION.
We are seeing our Constitution being destroyed with the rousing approval of the MSM and great portions of our populace.
This is going to end in BLOOD.
Use your noggins and think about it all.

Yes, he does not have the right to do this. If it is not overturned, then it is added to a long train of abuses.

And, we know what the Declaration of Independence says about a long train of abuses.

In which crass attempts to bribe voters are caressed and praised by media with his semen slobbering over their lips.

I'm sure if everyone at IBA got together we could buy an island SOMWEHERE warm.

Great idea, Epa.

And, here's my novel idea to add to it;

we could actually run that little country of ours by the Constitution of the United States, instead of whatever the hell Obama is running this country by.

I've been out of the house for most of today. I come home and read THIS!

My God!

I'm up for that island. Can Mr. AOW have some kind of handicapped access to the house? We will pay for that access!

Y'know the thing is, this is almost what Rubio wanted, and it's not as if this is a horrible thing, certainly it's not worse than dead people voting, or voting several times, or non citizens voting .... it's the idea that he is ARROGANT ENOUGH to believe he is the arbiter of what is right, and then self aggrandizing enough to to arrogate that power to his personal judgment.

If it cannot pass the legislature as composed by the PEOPLE who have created it by vote, then RAISE THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE PEOPLE, and hope you are right in the market of free ideas.

There are NO SHORT CUTS, Barry, you stupid cretin. We understand PRECISELY what you are purchasing today.

This is not politics as usual, it WORSE than that.

I am SO DONE.

I agree, Epa. I am not opposed to the idea. However, I do believe that Obama believes he can get away with this because it is not a hill anyone wants to die on. And, once he has set this precedent, he can get away with it easier next time, and easier the time after that, etc and so on.

Pastorius said...

AOW,
Well, seeing as how we are going to run the island by the American Constitution, of course, you can do what you want to do with your property.

But, you can't tell others what to do with their property.

Of course you are right pasto, in fact over Obamacare, I once heard him address democratic congressmen after the vote and tell them that no matter WHAT HAPPENS after, the processes, the committees, the allocations, the core mechanics for national single payer will have been created and the processes counted for more than the law.

It is his manner of changing the american way of doing, thinking, being. He is not FDR, who did what he had to BOTH to help people AND prevent either extreme from becoming a real force. FDR retreated from packing the court and the NRA, etc because the law called for that, this guy thinks his RIGHTNESS supersedes the limits because HE IS HE, and HE IS RIGHT.

These people are a danger to the republic and as cynical as we were, we were utterly naive. These people are true believers and we have to get the lot out of there.

Pastorius said...

Epa,
You write: FDR retreated from packing the court

I ask: He did? How did he retreat? I'm not that familiar with the history.

Here you go

And from the Smithsonian

And NPR

The big case

Oh man, I am embarrassed. I knew about Roosevelt's court-packing scheme. But, for some reason I thought he had gotten away with it, increasing the Supreme Court from five to nine Justices.

My High School history teacher hated Roosevelt, as I recall, and his anger (justifiable) at Roosevelt must have led me with the impression that Roosevelt was even more successful than he was.

The most embarrassing part of this is I have apparently not read anything about Roosevelt's domestic policies since High School.

Wow.

That's bad.

This is why I always say that my knowledge of History is VERY limited.
