Is Justice Private?

Somali pirates have increasingly been attacking international ships in the past few years, and though there have been few deaths of civilians, there is some large concern over the safety of ship crews and the need for commerce to continue in the world even at the risk of death of pirates. Shipping continues despite the threat of Somali piracy. Now it comes to guns. Is it right or wrong to defend shipping and crews from violent, maybe not-so-violent, Somali pirates? After all, Somali pirates hardly ever kill civilians in the course of their attacks. Should we kill them anyway? And who has such a right-- if we do determine to kill Somali pirates? Do civilians have such a lawful right? Isn't it murder? Maybe, because Somalis do so little actual violence, and because they are driven to it by illegal dumping of toxic waste by capitalists who blithely poison Somali fishing grounds, the natives are simply getting some just but otherwise unforthcoming economic justice, and the capitalists are over-reacting to some poor fishermen who simply want to live and feed their families.

Generation Jihad

I have been posting these last days about this BBC program in which they portrait the menace of homegrown Jihadis. But with a very special characteristic: all of them are not 25 years-old.

Episode 1.

Episode 2.

Episode 3.

Despite not agreeing in some points, I believe it's interesting to watch it. It point out correctly the errors made and still being made by Western countries in counter-jihad policy.

Germany: Merkel against Erdogan’s initiative of Turkish schools’ net

{{de|Angela Merkel bei der Eröffnung des Paul ...
Some days ago Erdogan stated he wanted Turkish people abroad not to integrate in those countries, but to influence their policies.
German chancellor, Angela Merkel, has showed her opposition to Turkish Preisdent Erdogan's initiative, of creating a Turkish schools' net in Germany with teachings imparted in Turkish language, because that would fuel discrimination.

"The idea that all Turkish schoolchildren should study in Turkish schools is not acceptable", says Merkel in an statement published by German newspaper Passauer Neue Presse, a few days before her visit to Ankara.

German Government's chief considers that the ideal solution is that "children and teenagers of Turkish origins go to German schools" to make it easy their integration in Germany, where more than 2.5 million of Turkish origins live.
via Merkel rechaza crear colegios turcos en Alemania | FACTUAL.es - Diario digital libre.

Turkish community in Germany is also against Erdogan's proposed measure.

So Erdogan's measure has not been very welcomed, has it? Hope that she is not convinced while in Turkey of the contrary...

Jethro Tull

I see a dark sail on the horizon set under a black
cloud that hides the sun.

Bring me my broadsword and clear understanding.
Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.

Bring me my broadsword and clear understanding.
Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman.
Bless with a hard heart those who surround me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind. Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on for the motherland.

Chicago Man Funded al Qaeda, Planned Stadium Attacks

A small fish? Maybe. The amount of money here is pretty small. The guy is a cab driver so he didn't have much money to give. But like the widow's mite, Khan's few hundred dollars were worth a million Saudi dinars.

But dig into the story and it looks like Khan had bigger plans. Like, blowing up an unnamed stadium. Insert inappropriate quip about helping the Cubs by blowing up Wrigley Field here.

Here's the entire press release from the DOJ. Emphasis is mine:

CHICAGO — A Chicago man who claims to be acquainted with an alleged terrorist leader in Pakistan was arrested today on federal charges of providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization for allegedly attempting to provide funds overseas to al Qaeda, federal law enforcement officials announced. Although the defendant, Raja Lahrasib Khan, a Chicago taxi driver and native of Pakistan who became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1988, allegedly discussed attacking a stadium in the United States this summer, there was no imminent domestic danger, officials said.

The investigation leading to Khan’s arrest is unrelated to a separate investigation that resulted in federal terrorism charges against Chicagoans Tahawwur Hussain Rana and David Coleman Headley in connection with the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai and a plot to attack targets in Denmark, the officials added.

Khan, 56, of the city’s north side, was charged with two counts of providing material support to terrorism in a criminal complaint that was filed yesterday in U.S. District Court in Chicago and unsealed today following his arrest, announced Patrick J. Fitzgerald, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The investigation is continuing, they said.

Khan was arrested this morning while working in downtown Chicago without
incident by the Chicago FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. He was scheduled to appear at 3:30 p.m. today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Geraldine Soat Brown in Federal Court in Chicago.

"While there was no imminent danger in the Chicago area or elsewhere, these charges, once again, affirm that law enforcement must remain constantly vigilant to guard against domestic support of foreign terrorist organizations. I am deeply grateful to the FBI agents and other members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force for their extremely hard work on this matter," said Mr. Fitzgerald.

Mr. Grant said: "Over the past six months, FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Forces across the country have disrupted plots, charged and apprehended a number of individuals and secured significant intelligence, which has been of benefit here and to our allies overseas. Notable as most of these successes have been, it also illustrates the reality of the environment we face today, along with the critical responsibility domestic law enforcement agencies and intelligence services have in protecting the public from the violent designs of others. It is a complex threat that we face and we are pleased with the results today," he added.

"Today’s arrest and charges are the result of an outstanding cooperative law enforcement and intelligence effort and underscore the domestic and international aspects of the terror threat we face," said David Kris, Assistant Attorney General for National Security.

According to a 35-page complaint affidavit, by at least 2008, Khan, who claims to have known Ilyas Kashmiri for approximately 15 years, learned that Kashmiri was working with al Qaeda, and that Kashmiri was purportedly receiving orders from al Qaeda’s leader, Osama bin Laden. According to Khan, during his meeting or meetings with Kashmiri, among other things, Khan learned that Kashmiri wanted to train operatives to conduct attacks in the United States; Kashmiri showed Khan a video depicting the detonation of an improvised explosive device; and Kashmiri told Khan that he needed money, in any amount, to be able to purchase materials from the "black market."

The complaint identifies Kashmiri as the leader in Kashmir of Harakat
ul-Jihad-I-Islami (HUJI), a Sunni extremist group located in Pakistan and
Kashmir with links to al Qaeda. In a reported interview last October, Kashmiri
purportedly said that he had joined forces with al Qaeda. In January 2010, Kashmiri, together with a former Pakistani military officer, Rana and Headley, were indicted in Chicago for their alleged roles in a conspiracy to murder and maim persons in a planned attack against the facilities and employees of the Danish newspaper Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten, in Denmark, as retribution for the publication of cartoons that depicted the Prophet Mohammed.

The charges against Khan allege that on Nov. 23, 2009, he sent a money transfer of approximately $950 from a currency exchange located on North LaSalle Street in Chicago to Individual A, who was in either Mirpur or Bhimber, in Pakistan. Khan later spoke with Individual A by telephone and instructed him to give "Lala"
25,000 Pakistani rupees (approximately $300) of the money he had sent. According to the affidavit, Khan told an undercover agent that "Lala," which means "older brother" in Urdu, is a nickname Khan uses to refer to Kashmiri, who he told the agent he had met most recently in 2008 in Miran Shah in northwest Pakistan. Khan also told the agent that Khan believed that his telephones were being monitored, and if Khan or the undercover agent were ever questioned about their discussions regarding "Lala," they should claim to have been referring to Khan’s actual older brother.

Just two weeks ago, on March 11, Khan and an associate, identified as "Individual B," allegedly had a discussion during which they appeared to talk about attacking a stadium in the United States in "August." Among other things, Khan described that bags containing remote controlled bombs could be placed in several different locations, and then "boom, boom, boom, boom." Khan further said that he would ask "Lala" [Kashmiri] to teach him how to conduct such an attack, the complaint alleges. However, there are no allegations that Khan either knew Kashmiri’s current whereabouts or had yet discussed his stadium plan with him.

On March 17, after agreeing to personally deliver to Kashmiri any funds that the undercover agent wanted to provide, Khan allegedly accepted $1,000 (ten $100 bills) from the agent. The complaint states that Khan accepted these funds after having had prior conversations with the undercover agent in which: Khan confirmed that Kashmiri was working with al Qaeda; Khan assured that Kashmiri would use the undercover agent’s funds to purchase weapons and, possibly, other supplies; Khan assured that he had provided Kashmiri with money in the past, including in approximately December 2009; and Khan discussed the possibility of having his son transport the money from the United States to England, where Khan would rendevous with his son, retrieve the money, and deliver it to Kashmiri in Pakistan.

On March 23, government agents at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport came into contact with Khan’s son, who was traveling to England. During this contact, agents discovered that Khan’s son possessed seven of the ten $100 bills that the
undercover agent had given to Khan, according to the affidavit.

Each count of providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. If convicted, the court is required to impose a reasonable sentence under the advisory United States Sentencing Guidelines.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Chicago FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, with particular assistance from the Chicago Police Department, the Illinois State Police, and the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Veatch and Steven Dollear, of the Northern District of Illinois, with assistance from the Counterterrorism Section of the Justice Department’s National Security Division.

The public is reminded that a criminal complaint contains mere allegations that are not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

How In The Hell Did I/We Miss This???

A few years ago my former employer was besieged, one afternoon, for several hours by members of ACORN. An entire busload of them pulled up, disgorged and invaded our lobby. Effectively jamming it shut. They were loud and nasty.

We were never really sure what they were protesting.

However, at the time, quite a number of employees were afraid to pass from one end of the building through the lobby to the other.

My boss asked me how I thought we should handle the situation. I gave him my pithy quick quip of a reply.

Instead, the police were called and the nuts disbanded.

I just sent my former boss a note telling him he could have the snipers on the roof stand down now.

Dallas Morning News (4 days ago!!!):

ACORN to disband amid falling revenue, damaged reputation

08:31 AM CDT on Tuesday, March 23, 2010
Michael Tarm, The Associated Press

CHICAGO – The once mighty community activist group ACORN announced Monday that it is folding amid falling revenues – six months after video footage emerged showing some of its workers giving tax tips to conservative activists posing as a pimp and prostitute.

"It's really declining revenue in the face of a series of attacks from partisan operatives and right-wing activists that have taken away our ability to raise the resources we need," ACORN spokesman Kevin Whelan said.

Several of its largest affiliates, including ACORN New York and ACORN California, broke away this year and changed their names in a bid to ditch the tarnished image of their parent organization and restore revenue that ran dry in the wake of the video scandal.

ACORN's financial situation and reputation went into free fall within days of the videos' release in September. Congress reacted by yanking ACORN's federal funding, private donors held back cash and scores of ACORN offices closed.

Earlier this month, a U.S. judge reiterated an earlier ruling that the federal law blacklisting ACORN and groups allied with it was unconstitutional because it singled them out. But that didn't mean any money would be automatically be restored.

Bertha Lewis, the CEO of ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, alluded to financial hardships in a weekend statement as the group's board prepared to deliberate by phone.

"ACORN has faced a series of well-orchestrated, relentless, well-funded right-wing attacks that are unprecedented since the McCarthy era," she said. "The videos were a manufactured, sensational story that led to rush to judgment and an unconstitutional act by Congress."

ACORN's board decided to close remaining state affiliates and field offices by April 1 because of falling revenues, with some national operations continuing to operate for at least several weeks before shutting for good, Whelan said Monday.

Big Journalism:

Is a D.O.D. Insider Leaking Classified Information to CNN?
Posted by Brad Thor Mar 26th 2010 at 11:43 am

On Wednesday, CNN’s Pentagon correspondent, Barbara Starr reported on multiple, highly sensitive documents that had been “provided” to CNN and which detail valuable, strategic intelligence gathered by the Department of Defense in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

It should come as no surprise that Starr made sure to highlight all of the juicy details. She not only revealed U.S. knowledge of a covert meeting between Hamid Karzai’s brother and Mullah Baradar (a top Taliban leader who was later arrested in Pakistan), as well as a secret audio message played to Taliban commanders from reclusive Taliban leader, Mullah Omar, but she went on to inform the entire world that the United States has a safe house in Kabul (used by members of the Haqqani terror network) currently under surveillance. Great work Barbara!

Would anyone care to wager that within hours of Starr’s story being published on the Internet that the Haqqani network began sanitizing and abandoning all of its safe houses in Kabul?

How about a wager on whether or not Taliban operatives are now actively triangulating the information from Starr’s reporting in order to find out how the United States came by it? What about a wager on whether or not once the Taliban discover who’s responsible on their end, that person or persons will be murdered?
For such intrepid, show-our-cards-to-the-enemy-journalism, I have to say, “Brava, Ms. Starr!” Three cheers for you and your fellow travelers in the lamestream media. Once again you have aligned yourselves with disgruntled, America-hating, liberal intelligence insiders, who will do anything (even once again leaking classified intelligence because they don’t like how the game is being played) in order to take America “down a few pegs.”

I have a little piece of advice for Ms. Starr and other journalists like her: just because someone leaks, excuse me, “provides” classified information to your “news” organization, it doesn’t mean you should go public with it, especially if the information will endanger the lives of Americans, the lives of American intelligence assets, and will severely cripple ongoing intelligence operations.

But of course this isn’t just limited to Ms. Starr. The even bigger question raised by the article is who leaked the information to CNN in the first place?

According to confidential sources familiar with ongoing Department of Defense operations in the Af/Pak theater, there are several disgruntled players who are unhappy with how the D.O.D. has been gathering its intelligence and is providing force protection for our troops.

Reluctantly at the center of the fray, is a distinguished American warrior named Michael Furlong. Suffice it to say that Furlong has been unjustly turned into a modern-day whipping boy. Those with intimate knowledge of his operations not only resolutely stand behind him and his assertion that everything he has done is aboveboard and was conducted with the full support of his superiors, but that his efforts to secure for our troops the best force protection available has resulted in countless American lives being saved every single day.

So was it one of the aforementioned disgruntled players who leaked classified information to Barbara Starr and CNN? Word out of D.C. and Kabul is that suspicion is now falling upon someone within Furlong’s chain-of-command itself. The reason? The person in question is allegedly unhappy with how he believes in-theater intelligence is being gathered.

More to the point, the group Furlong brought in to provide atmospherics and force protection for our troops was too good, too fast. But rather than embrace the exceptional work the group was doing, petty jealousies ruled the day and, despite having done nothing wrong, Furlong was defenestrated. (Whether the Central Intelligence Agency was on the sidewalk yelling, “Jump,” or they were in the office helping give him a push, will all come out in due time.)

For the moment, the most troubling aspect for all Americans should be that someone above Furlong, someone within the D.O.D. (who should be committed to the safety of American troops above all else) appears to not only be taking shots at his own agency’s efforts in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but to be using the most highly-sensitive information to do it.

AT&T to Book $1 Billion Cost on Health-Care Reform

From Business Week:

AT&T Inc. will book $1 billion in first-quarter costs related to the health-care law signed this week by President Barack Obama, the most of any U.S. company so far.

A change in the tax treatment of Medicare subsidies triggered the non-cash expense, and the company will consider changes to the benefits it offers current and retired workers, Dallas-based AT&T said today in a regulatory filing.

AT&T, the biggest U.S. phone company, joins Caterpillar Inc., AK Steel Holding Corp. and 3M Co. in recording non-cash expenses against earnings as a result of the law. Health-care costs may shave as much as $14 billion from U.S. corporate profits, according to an estimate by benefits consulting firm Towers Watson. AT&T employed about 281,000 people as of the end of January.

“Companies like AT&T, that have large employee bases, are going to have higher health-care costs and, therefore, lower earnings unless they can negotiate something or offer less to their employees,” said Chris Larsen, an analyst at Piper Jaffray & Co. in New York, who rates AT&T shares “overweight” and doesn’t own any himself.

Obama's Private Army?

(updated at bottom)

What is all this about?

From Right Truth:

Remember when Obama said he wanted a “national security force”? Not the national guard, but a civilian one that has not sworn to uphold the Constitution? On July 2, 2008 in a speech in Colorado Springs, Barack Obama called for a police state.

Obama just got his private army?

…And no one seems to have noticed. It is buried in the Senate revisions to the health care bill.

(d) FUNDING.—For the purpose of carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the Commissioned Corps under this section, there are authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary to the Office of the Surgeon General for each of fiscal years 2010 through 2014. Funds appropriated under this subsection shall be used for recruitment and training of Commissioned Corps Officers.

Update from Midnight Rider:

Over at HotAir Ed Morrissey says:

We’ve been getting a lot of e-mail this past week over a section of ObamaCare that some believe creates a private health-care army for the President. On page 1312 of the health-care overhaul bill, language regarding the funding of something called the Ready Reserve Corps appears — but the very language should have tipped off readers that it’s nothing new.

The phrase “is amended” should have alerted readers that this section already exists
in law — and actually has existed for over 60 years. In 1964, Lyndon Johnson
restructured the Ready Reserve Corps by executive order as a deployable response
team reporting to the Surgeon General for disaster relief. Actually, that EO appears not to have created the RRC but merely to have codified its chain of command under the Surgeon General. According to Findlaw, the relevant statute creating the RRC originated in 1944, during World War II, and has been repeatedly modified since, reorganized in 1949, 1966, and 1993.

This section of ObamaCare modifies it yet again, mainly in terms of funding. It’s not a great surprise that a bill that seeks to increase the federal government’s role in health care would also seek to expand or at least redefine its emergency response agencies. Even if this was a “private health-care army,” though, it would be a woefully underfunded one with a $12.5 million annual budget. The state of Minnesota alone will spend $1.8 billion on public safety in its biennial budget, with a good portion of that on law enforcement.

This bill has a multitude of problems, but a ‘private health-care army’
isn’t one of them.

Dear Uncle Barry,

It's really quite ironic, isn't it.

He is not the most powerful man in the world to have his people do his bidding.

He is the most powerful man in the world to do the bidding of the people.

You and your playmates are really having a hard time wrapping your hubris around that, aren't you?

When people don't play the way you want you take up your toys, stomp out of the room, call names and go home. Tattling all the way.

You're a bunch of fucking sissies.

UN Passes Another Anti-Blasphemy Resolution Condemning Islamophobia

From Weasel Zippers:

(CNSNews.com) – The Islamic-led drive against the “defamation” of religion achieved its lowest-ever level of support in a United Nations vote Thursday, despite attempts to breathe new life into the flagging campaign by linking it to the recent Swiss vote banning the construction of minarets.

It a bid to make the resolution more palatable, drafters orally revised it, inserting a reference to “anti-Semitism and Christianophobia” alongside the now-familiar “Islamophobia,” but there was no sign the move had any effect.

For the eleventh time in the past 12 years, the U.N.’s Geneva-based human rights apparatus passed a non-binding resolution Thursday introduced by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on “combating defamation of religions.”

But the victory margin this year was slimmer than ever before, with 20 members of the 47-nation Human Rights Council (HRC) voting for the measure, 17 opposing it and eight abstaining.

Voting alongside OIC members were China, Cuba, Russia, Nicaragua, Bolivia, the Philippines and South Africa.

From the Jerusalem Post:
SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea's military warned South Korea and the United States on Friday of "unprecedented nuclear strikes" as it expressed anger over a report the two countries plan to prepare for possible instability in the totalitarian country, a scenario it dismissed as a "pipe dream."

The North routinely issues such warnings. Diplomats in South Korea and the US have repeatedly called on Pyongyang to return to international negotiations aimed at ending its nuclear programs.

"Those who seek to bring down the system in the (North), whether they play a main role or a passive role, will fall victim to the unprecedented nuclear strikes of the invincible army," North Korea's military said in comments carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

WHITE HOUSE EXPOSED: Farrakhan, Ayers, Wright, Sharpton, Jackson are in da house?

From Atlas Shrugs:

There are consequential, disturbing revelations to be found when flipping through the visitors list at the White House. Bill Ayers is there no less than three times, Louis Farrakhan at least once, but there is also a separate visit for his family, and the infamous hater Jeremiah Wright is there at least five times (four times under Jeremy, one under Jeremiah). Contemptuously, Farrakhan’s visit is tagged as “MEETING WITH SCIENCE CLUB MEMBERS”…Al Sharpton is there twice, and Jesse "hymietown" Jackson is a regular (six times).

It bears noting that despite solid evidence that Obama was tight with these haters, inciters and revolutionaries and traitors, he distanced himself from them during the campaign and outright lied about his ties to them. Mr. Ayers, for example, was dismissed as “a guy who lives in my neighborhood” and “somebody who worked on education issues in Chicago that I know.”

Obama lied about his friends and nefarious colleagues because he he knew that his connection to them was deadly. He knew these were bad characters, and that his being involved with them would not sit well with the American people. He knew. And so he lied. And now they are regulars atthe White House (while the Dalai Lama and Netanyahu are begrudgingly ushered in the side door or seen chilling with the trash).

These are terrorists, inciters to genocide, America haters, the underbelly of an ugly America -- and they are in the House.

The Beginning of the End of Health Insurance Companies

From Sonic Charmer:

Seems pretty clear that one major effect (whether intent or not) of this “healthcare” “reform” will be to eliminate health insurance companies from the market. It takes a true economic retard to sincerely believe in most of the claimed good effects of the bill. And it doesn’t take an economic genius to discern that companies cannot long survive (unaided) if they are forced by the government to sign money-losing contracts with anyone who asks them to.

Now as far as I’m concerned, the jury’s still out on exactly how insurance companies will be eliminated from the market. Will they just go bankrupt and fold? Some of them perhaps. More likely though I think is that they will just become de facto if not literal arms of the government (thus, the “market” as such will just disappear as everyone ends up under the government umbrella).

The trajectory is pretty clear: a couple years down the road, when insurance companies have been abiding by these “reform” diktats, and losing money, and ratcheting up premiums as much as they can, but it’s not enough, and people paying the higher premiums complain (to politicians), and politicians grandstand, and hearings are held, and pressure is put back on the insurance companies….sooner or later the insurance companies will go to the government hat in hand. Government (“to preserve our historic health reform and patients’ health rights”) gives them a “bailout”, which is another term for buying them out.

... So the obvious question is what can be done by people opposed to all this. Step 1, I think, involves rediscovering the concept of “insurance”, and resurrecting it – but with a new name. As my most devoted reader(s) know, the thing we have today that we call “insurance” is not insurance. Like the term “liberal”, the word “insurance” has by now been so misused and abused that it is unrecognizable as its former self.

FBI investigating "final call to Islam" emails sent to Kansas legislators by Dallas-area Muslim

From Jawa:

The FBI and Homeland Security are presently investigating a series of emails sent by a Dallas-area Muslim, Javid Kamal, to Kansas legislators over the past month. Legislators in other states have also received emails.

What has investigators concerned is that the last email dated March 21st from Kamal appears to be a "final call to Islam" that under Islamic law is necessary before waging jihad against non-Muslims. Kamal explicitly states that this was his "final call":

This is perhaps my last email to Senators, House of Representatives/Delegates/Assembly and Staff Members of United States of America unless compelled by any people.

A former FBI counter-terrorism agent who was asked to analyze Kamal's emails stated:

This is a significant danger because of the requirement in Islam to invite ("Dawah" in Islam) non-Muslims to Islam prior to an attack ("Jihad" in Islam). It is my professional opinion that this direct Dawah to the entire Kansas legislature and the emphasis that Monday's email is Javid Kamal's "final" email inviting them to Islam, is a direct threat to the Kansas legislature and others to which Kamal communicated, and is a prelude to a jihadi attack.

Oh, did I forget to mention that when the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) went to Kamal's workplace earlier this week to question him about the emails, they discovered that not only was Javid Kamal not at work, nor could he be located, but also no one, including his family, knows his whereabouts?

CAIR press release claiming religious discrimination against Kamal in 4...3...2...

UPDATE: The Dallas FBI located Javid Kamal today and interviewed him. He is being detained because they discovered during the investigation that he is in the country illegally and the FBI is working with CPB to have him deported. Because he's not a threat or anything like that.

(Reuters) - A South Korean naval vessel with more than 100 aboard was sinking on Friday in waters near North Korea and Seoul was investigating whether it was hit in a torpedo attack by the North, South Korean media said.

Broadcaster SBS said many (perhaps 100, according to some sources) South Korean sailors on the stricken vessel were feared dead.

South Korea's YTN TV network said the government was investigating whether the sinking was due to a torpedo attack by the North, and Yonhap news agency said the Seoul government had convened an emergency meeting of security-related ministers.

Yonhap also reported a South Korean navy ship firing towards an unidentified vessel to the north.

North Korea in recent weeks has said it was bolstering its defences in response to joint South Korean-U.S. military drills that were held this month.

Get ready for Frogs to start falling out of the sky.
From Reliapundit, the Astute Blogger:
OBAMA = ANTISEMITIC SCUM: Obama demands Netanyahu’s peace answers by Saturday
US hopes to get immediate Arab League approval for proximity talks; PA official: DC meetings ended without progress on east Jerusalem construction freeze.

the US is demanding of Israel ... commitments by Saturday so it can take them to the Arab League meeting in Libya and receive that organization's backing for starting proximity talks.

... the administration’s treatment of Netanyahu during his meeting with Obama created the impression of a deep crisis in relations. As Jackson Diehl wrote in The Washington Post, the White House’s refusal to allow non-official photographers record the Obama-Netanyahu meeting, and the fact that no statement was issued afterward, led to the impression that “Netanyahu is being treated as if he were an unsavory Third World dictator, needed for strategic reasons but conspicuously held at arms length.”

According to various Israeli sources, the Obama administration is asking for Israel to commit to some type of limitation on building in east Jerusalem; to show a willingness to deal with the so-called core issues of borders, refugee and Jerusalem already in the indirect talks; and to agree to a number of confidence building measures, including the release of hundreds of Fatah prisoners.

There were also reports, not confirmed, that the administration had asked for a commitment to extend the moratorium on housing starts in the West Bank settlements beyond the 10-months originally declared.

One source in the Prime Minister’s Office said the goal of the dialogue with the US was to find a way to start the proximity talks and “put these problems behind us.”

The key problem with the US has to do with Jerusalem, with the administration making it clear in recent days that it did not accept Netanyahu’s declaration at the AIPAC conference on Monday evening that Jerusalem was not a settlement, but rather Israel’s capital, and that building would continue there.

It was in Egypt that Israel celebrated the very first Shabbat Ha-Gadol on the tenth of Nissan, five days before their redemption. On that day, the Children of Israel were given their first commandment which applied only to that Shabbat, but not to future generations: On the tenth day of this month [Nissan]... each man should take a lamb for the household, a lamb for each home (Exodus 12:3).

Just 9 percent of Jewish Israelis think US President Barack Obama’s administration is more pro-Israel than pro-Palestinian, according to a Smith Research poll taken this week on behalf of The Jerusalem Post.

Forty-eight percent said that the Obama presidency favored the Palestinian side, 30% said his administration was neutral and 13% chose not to express an opinion for the survey, which has a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points.

The poll of a representative sample of 500 Israelis was conducted on Sunday and Monday after weeks of heightened tensions between Obama and Israel, but before the crisis intensified during Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House.

Jimmy Carter Lobbying Obama to Remove Hamas From Terror List

Nothing wrong with a little genocidal tendencies against 'da jooooos' for these two presidents apparently. With recent news, an actual removal is not out of the question.

Carter Wants Obama to Remove Hamas from Terror List

The Obama Administration should remove Hamas from the terrorist list, former President Jimmy Carter told media following his visit to Gaza today. He said he plans on pushing for the change when he meets with U.S. officials on Thursday to discuss his latest trip to the Middle East. Carter’s comments came during a joint press conference with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh following their meeting today in Gaza. The former president said he tried to convince Hamas leaders to denounce violence, accept the existing interim agreements and recognize the right of the Jewish state to exist.

"Hamas leaders want peace and they want to have reconciliation not only with their Fatah brothers but also eventually with Israelis to live side by side, with two nations, both sovereign nations recognized by each other and living in peace," Carter said.

Jimmy Carter is an anti-Semite. There is no doubt about it.

How could I say that? He's a nice old man who helps build houses for old people?

Yes, but the thing is, he's also an international statesmen, and an ex-POTUS, and as such, I am quite sure he is aware that the Hamas Charter says the following:

"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).

"The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. "

"There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."

"After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying."

Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

That's the organization Jimmy Carter wants Israel to negotiate with.

Obama "Humiliates" Netanyahu, Walks Out of Meeting to Have Dinner Leaving Israeli PM Alone

One of the subjects here at this blog, in the comments section, today has been Obama's dislike of white people. It is my contention that Obama's friendship with Jeremiah Wright and Van Jones proves he is inured in Black Nationalism.

If a President were inured in White Nationalism, we would have no problem saying he was a racist. But, most people have trouble saying Obama is a racist.

This is not surprising. People in 1930's Germany had trouble seeing how evil Hitler was, even though he gave many clues.

I am not saying that I believe Obama is as bad as Hitler. I don't believe that.

I am saying, however, that the example of Hitler's rise in Germany shows us that people will not recognize evil even as it stares them in the face.

It is clear that Obama does not seem to like Jews much either. Jeremiah Wright is a virulent anti-Semite. Obama's Church honored the anti-Semitic "Reverend Louis Farrkhan."

Given that Obama was willing to sit in a Church for 20 years wherein the "Pastor" spoke of Jews as Conspirators controlling the USA, just as if his words had come out of the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion.

Here's a video which dips into Obama's Pastors anti-Semitism:

Now, given that we know the above to be true, is it really any surprise that Obama would deal with the leader of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in the way that he did?

(London Times)- For a head of state to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of.

Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip seen in Jerusalem tonight as a disastrous humiliation.

After failing to extract a written promise of concessions on Jewish settlements, Mr Obama walked out of his meeting with Mr Netanyahu but invited him to stay at the White House, consult with advisors and “let me know if there is anything new”, a US congressman who spoke to the Prime Minister said today.

“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages”, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House phone line.

United Nations Website Posts Blood-Libel Against Israel

From the Jerusalem Post:

Allegations that Israel harvests Palestinian organs have re-surfaced and are posted on the UN Human Rights Council Web site in the form of a statement written by an NGO.

The International Organization for the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination [EAFORD] accused Israel of “ethnic cleansing and massacres” before it moved on to the issue of what it called “dead, kidnapped and killed Palestinians.”

“Their [Palestinian] human organs, as reported in the press, can be a source of immense wealth through illegal trafficking in the world market,” wrote EAFORD.

“Israeli physicians, Medical Centres, rabbis and the Israeli army may be involved,” it stated.

“After Israeli physicians remove organs they think marketable, the soldiers bury the bodies in graves that carry only numbers and no names, or place them in sealed caskets and deliver them under curfew conditions to the families and supervise the digging of the graves and burial,” stated the NGO document, which is posted on the UNHRC’s Web site.

EAFORD called for a boycott of Israel physicians and medical centers. It also asked the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to report on the matter to the Security Council and to demand that it be sent to the International Criminal Court for action.

EAFORD’s statement along with that of other NGOs can be found on the UNHRC Web site in a section for documents, which were submitted for the council’s 13th session, which is taking place this March in Geneva.

NGOs regularly submit documents to the UNHRC relating to matters under debate. In this session the council is debating the human rights situation in the Palestinian territories.

The fact that the allegations were on the site was first publicized by UN Watch in Geneva, which on Wednesday sent a protest letter to the UN High Commissioner forHuman Rights and the council’s president.

The council and the commissioner’s office, “however unwittingly, helped to propagate an anti-Semitic libel by publishing [the EAFORD’s charges] as an official UN document,” wrote UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer.

He called on the UN council and high commissioner to “immediately cease circulating this racist, hateful and inflammatory text to the ambassadors and other delegates of the UNHRC.”

Iran is training the Taliban, The Times says

ISAF Logo. * de: Schrift in Paschtu: کمک او هم...
Image via Wikipedia

The attack was a training exercise overseen by Iranian security officials in plain clothes. The Taliban do not know whether they were police officers, soldiers or secret service agents. What they can say is that in camps along the border between Afghanistan and Iran, Taliban recruits are being taught how to ambush British, American and other Nato troops using guns and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

They are learning to attack checkpoints as well as mountain bases. Iranian instructors are also giving them target practice on desert ranges with Kalashnikov assault rifles.

... A Taliban (Sunni) commander who has been trained in Iran (Shia) said last week: “Our religions and our histories are different, but our target is the same — we both want to kill Americans.”

Meanwhile, the Taliban leader Hetmayar has "offered" a peace proposal (via), something shocking specially because he is the leader of one of the three most important Taliban groups. It would be quite stupid to make peace with one of those groups, while the others continue attacking. :|
The plan calls for a full withdrawal of NATO and allied troops by the end of 2010, a withdrawal of those forces from cities to remote bases in the interim, and a full turnover of security to the Afghan Army and police. "Foreign troops will have no rights to carry out military operations, house search and arrests on their own anywhere in Afghanistan," the statement read.

That said, I don't think NATO can trust any of these guys: they know that if they succeed in pushing ISAF troops to leave Afghanistan, their possibilities of returning to power multiply.

Obama voices his 'bet' in as many words ... tells us his users/voters wil be HOOKED, will turn on Republicans

President Barack Obama mocked Republicans' campaign to try to repeal his new health care law, saying Thursday they should "Go for it" and see how well they fare with voters.

"Be my guest," Obama said in prepared remarks for the first of many appearances around the country to sell the overhaul to voters before the fall congressional elections. "I welcome that fight. Because I don't believe the American people are going to put the insurance industry back in the driver's seat."

And when gas is $7 a gallon from overheated inflated debt ablated dollars as a cause of the impossibility of affording this free-er subsidized up to $88k per year health give away?
Are ENOUGH American voters fixated on their own PERCEIVED very short term gain to be blind to the interest of themselves in a VERY FEW YEARS and their own kids?

Obama is betting on human weakness, venality, greed, dependence and laziness.
That's his view of Americans.
Is it any wonder we have John Dingell talking about the large effort it takes to control such sloths?

My disgust is now so gigantic I can hardly swallow.

Who will volunteer to fight for a place where your success is a tool to self select to be the VAMPIRES' VICTIM? Who will work tirelessly to succeed in such a place? WHY WOULD THEY?

Health Care, Hayek and Freedom

From Big Government:

“The constitution was thus conceived as a protection of the people against all arbitrary action, on the part of the legislative as well as the other branches of government. A constitution which in such manner is to limit government must contain what in effect are substantive rules…It must lay down general principles which are to govern the acts of the appointed legislature.”

So wrote Friedrich Hayek in The Constitution of Liberty a half century ago. He went on to say that: “A group of men normally become a society not by giving themselves laws but by obeying the same rules of conduct. This means that the power of the majority is limited by those commonly held principles and that there is no legitimate power beyond them.”

It is sad that Congress celebrated the 50th anniversary of Hayek’s work by ignoring any pretense that its power is limited. It is clear the Obama administration and the Democrat majority in Congress does not feel that the temporary majority is to be bound by any general principle other than “do you have the votes.” The 2000+page health care bill goes so far beyond what this country was founded on that it is difficult to know where to begin.

The bill is meant to involve the federal government in every nook and cranny of American life. Employers are told by their government what benefits they must provide employees. If we accept the proposition that the majority may tell employers and employees what their benefit package is, then where is the limitation that restricts this to health care?

If the auto insurance companies have sufficient lobbying power, then we will be told that our benefit package must include auto insurance as well. And why not require employers to provide membership in health clubs, or country clubs? I personally would prefer season tickets to University of Michigan basketball games.

If you think Obamacare is scary, Doug Hagmann at NEIN (and many of us here at IBA) say you'll be horrified by how it looks like the the Dems may try to protect Obamacare and their jobs in November.

Northeast Intelligence Network

The coming of an American Reichstag?
by Douglas J Hagmann

25 March 2010: A federal intelligence source reported in an interview last evening that the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have been called in to “actively investigate incidents of violence and threats” made to at least ten Democrats and one Republican lawmaker since Sunday. Their involvement was reportedly requested by top House leadership and one unnamed, high-level White House official. According to this source, who agreed to speak to this writer under the strict condition of anonymity, “a ‘watch list’ has already been created that specifically names and turns their focus on various pro-life and tea-party organizations and individuals who are considered a threat to domestic security, continuity of government operations, and to the lives of lawmakers and their families.”

While published reports confirm that Capitol Police have been contacted and are addressing security concerns of lawmakers and the incidents of vandalism, the involvement of federal agencies has not been publicly disclosed, nor will it likely be on any official level. The reason, according to this source, is that high-level discussions between top lawmakers and agency heads are “exploring the application of the Patriot Act against any right-wing individual or group that poses a danger to government operations.” He added that “threat assessments and security measures for public assemblies at the Capitol, specifically focusing on conservative groups are being re-evaluated at the request of the White House and Democratic lawmakers.”

Dissemination of the list is obviously limited to avoid another “MIAC” episode, referring to the release of a document leaked from the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC).

According to this federal official, lawmakers and White House officials were stunned (how in the hell could they be stunned? It's not like they weren't hearing people were pissed for months -- mr) by the strong response against the health care bill, citing the protests at the Capitol. “Based on what I’ve heard, I don’t think they were expecting the type of response seen in not only the demonstrations, but in poll numbers and by conservative talk radio and television. “They have been monitoring all aspects of this situation, not just the physical assemblies,” he stated. “Watch lists are being created and updated to include anyone who appears to be organizing or acting as a gallivanting force behind the actual protestors.”

The media outlets have also been reporting the allegations of racial slurs and anti-gay remarks shouted at Representatives John Lewis, Andre Carson, and Barney Frank this weekend, supposedly during the protests of members of the Tea Party. According to this source, there does not appear to be any direct evidence of such behavior beyond the allegations themselves.

On Saturday, Capitol Police reportedly reviewed at least two videos – one from a cellular telephone and another from a video camera – that supposedly captured the event. “There was a contemporaneous review of audio and video at the site of the protest when they [Capitol Police] created a physical barrier for the lawmakers and when the comments were allegedly made. The officers were even instructed to make arrests, but could not find anything that supported the allegations rising to the level of disorderly conduct,” stated this source.

When Leftwingers Attack

We've heard a lot about (but, curiously, have not seen evidence of) "violent right wing anger" in the news the last few days.

Of course, being an Obamacrat means turning off the inconvenient portions of your memory to suit whatever you view as your political objective for that particular time and place. Political violence and vandalism from the left, which was commonplace during the Bush years, was well-known and ignored (or even celebrated as "righteous)." Murder fantasies about killing George W. Bush were vogue. Movies about killing Bush were "edgy" and "provacative." All was well until those damned rightwingurrrrz started, like, disagreeing and protesting and stuff. How dare they speak!

Behold, left wing "nonviolence:"

* It was not the fear of conservative violence that caused Ann Coulter's speech to be canceled this week.
* It was a liberal who bit the finger off a man who disagreed with him on health care.
* It was Obama-loving Amy Bishop who took a gun to work and murdered co-workers.
* Joseph Stack flew his plane into the IRS building after writing an
anti-conservative manifesto.

* It was liberals who destroyed AM radio towers outside of Seattle.
* It's liberals who burn down Hummer dealerships.
* It was progressive SEIU union thugs who beat a black conservative man who spoke his mind.
* It's doubtful that a conservative fired shots into a GOP campaign headquarters.
* In fact, Democrats have no monopoly on having their offices vandalized.
* Don't forget it was Obama's friend Bill Ayers who used terrorism as a tool for political change. SDS is still radical, with arrests in 2007 and the storming of the CATO Institute in July 2008.
* It was a liberal who was sentenced to two years for bringing bombs and riot shields to the Republican National Convention in 2008.
* It was a liberal who threatened to kill a government informant who infiltrated her Austin-based group that planned to bomb the RNC.
* It was liberals who assaulted police in Berkeley.
* It was liberals who intimidated and threw rocks through the windows of researchers.
* The two Black Panthers who stood outside polls intimidating people with nightsticks were probably not right-wingers.
* Every time the G20 gets together, it's not conservatives who destroy property and cause chaos.
Well, apparently, all the victims and potential victims of those attacks and incidents "deserved it" or something. Because, uh, they don't hold "correct" beliefs like Democrats do.

I would also add that transgendered Democrat thug who vandalized a Democrat office in Colorado trying to get the media to pin the blame on "right wingers." And got busted doing so.

So the next time some Obama-gargling wanker starts whining about "the violence" he fears will come to him because of his political posturing, remind him where the real political violence in America comes from and where it has always come from. You can do this by handing him a mirror.

France to ban veil says Nicolas Sarkozy - UPDATE - Canada Too!

From the Telegraph:

Nicolas Sarkozy has said that France will ban the full Muslim veil
Photo: AFP/Getty Images

The move would protect the dignity of women, the president added.

“The full veil is contrary to the dignity of women,” he said. “The response is to ban it. The Government will table a draft law prohibiting it.”

The veil is not, merely, "contrary to the dignity of women." It certainly is that. However, that is a mealy-mouthed way of telling the truth.

The truth is, the full-veil is the chains of modern slavery. The burqa is a portable concentration camp.

Hamas Minister: Only a Madman Would Think The Jews, The Brothers of Apes And Pigs Are Human

And yet Obama demonizes Israel while saying nothing about the gutter trash Palestinians...

(MEMRI)- The Jews, the brothers of apes and pigs, have gathered from all corners of the world, in order to defile the Al-Aqsa Mosque. They have come to rob it of its purity, and they replaced it with their impurity, their filth, and their abomination. The Al-Aqsa Mosque... Along come the criminal Zionists, and open the so-called Hurva ("destruction") synagogue. May Allah bring their homes down on them.

You cannot go on living, oh Arab and Islamic nation, while the Al-Aqsa Mosque is being defiled by the Jews, the most despicable people on this Earth. By Allah, they are not human beings. They are not men who deserve to live, as long as we are alive.

The Jews have violated all the treaties and accords. They slayed the prophets in the past, and showed no respect for any prophet or messenger. The Koran says: "They slayed the prophets unjustly." Only a madman, who does not understand a thing, can possibly think that the Jews are human and should be treated as such, while their treatment of us is characterized by death, blood, and siege.

Obama Nominates NY Times Lawyer Who Approved Stories Outing Classified Counterterror Programs to be Army's Top Legal Counsel

Is it just me, or is Obama coming more and more out into the open with his anti-American hate?

Solomon B. Watson IV was the top legal officer of the New York Times back in 2005 and 2006 when, notoriously, it published two stories compromising top-secret counterterrorism programs. I wrote about what the Times had done at the time in "Exposure," as Gabriel Schoenfeld did in "Has the New York Times violated the Espionage Act?"Indeed, Schoenfeld's forthcoming book Necessary Secrets was inspired by the recurring issues raised by the Times' -- oh, let's say it --- violations of the Espionage Act.

The Obama administration has now nominated Watson to be general counsel of the Army. This has raised some questions in the minds of Senators John McCain and Jeff Sessions about how Mr. Watson might deal with issues of leaking and secrecy in his sensitive new post
. In fact, in his confirmation hearings they gave him a hot grilling. There is no one more qualified than Schnoenfeld to review Watson's responses to Senators McCain and Sessions. He analyzes them in "A secret keeper (and breaker).

House GOP Whip Cantor Reports Office Shot At, Chides DNC for "Fanning Flames"

House Minority Whip Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) is having none of the DNC's wolf-crying over alleged threats against Democratic politicians. Despite a shot being fired at his own Richmond, Virginia, district office, Cantor told the DNC to stop using reports of threats "as political weapons".

HOUSE GOP No. 2: Someone Shot At My Office

reports that Rep. Eric Cantor, the number two Republican in the House of Representatives, said Thursday that a bullet had been shot through a window at his district office in Richmond, Virginia. He also said he had received threatening messages.

He said he would not publicly release the messages out of concern that doing so would only incite further violence.

He also accused Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine and Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland - a member of the Democratic House leadership - of "fanning the flames" of violence by using threats that have been made against Democratic members "as political weapons."

"Legitimate threats should be treated as security issues, and they should be dealt with by the appropriate law enforcement officials," Cantor told reporters on Capitol Hill. "It is reckless to use these incidents as media vehicles for political gain. ... Enough is enough. It has to stop."

Cantor, who is Jewish, said he had received numerous threats throughout his career both on account of his religion and his position in the GOP leadership.

More than 10 Democrats have reported trouble since the weekend health care vote, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Maryland, told reporters on Wednesday.

Windows have been smashed at Democratic offices in at least three states, and federal agents are investigating whether a cut gas line at the home of a Virginia congressman's brother was related to the lawmaker's yes vote.

Democratic congressional leaders have demanded Republicans join them in condemning a spate of threats and vandalism that has followed Sunday's vote on a sweeping overhaul of the U.S. health care system.
