Perhaps 500 Thousand People Attend Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" Rally

I know this blog is not, exactly, made up of people who would be Glenn Beck lovers. However, I think we can agree that it is a good thing that 300-500 thousand people showed up who, generally oppose the direction America has taken.

This is what I have been expecting to happen, but with a lot less manifest anger. I am extremely gratified to see that Americans are standing against Obama/Pelosi/Reid's virtual tyranny in a peaceful manner.

Clearly, America is a better place than if it were made up of a whole bunch of people like me.

I can't wait to see my local news tonight.

Wanna bet that the reports tonight on the msm gloss over today's rally?

Hi guys.
I was watching it live on the pc and it was just great to see ,i just hope and wish it won't be a one day event and that this spirit stays alive.

Deadbambi here again - I need to come up with another ID since I got rid of that one.

Anyway, I cannot align myself with the Christian right on any level and this is why I think Beck's rally is woefully uneffective. It's replacing Allah with Jesus. I don't want any of them dictating American domestic or foreign policy.

I'd like everyone to take their god and shove it straight up their ass, or at the very least, keep it to yourself.

This oil spill has really woken me up and made me realize a few things. There is no difference between the Bush agenda and the Obama agenda. There has been no difference between the party agendas for decades. We are ruled by corporatists. We will embrace countries like Saudi Arabia and allow the destruction of the Gulf all for the love of oil. Until professional lobbyists are outlawed, we can scream about sharia or off-shore drilling and nothing will change. This is the sad reality.

That's a great turnout. Good for them.

Deadbambi, I will never be able to align with the hardcore religious Christian right either (nor would they want me), and I've always got one eye open for any serious sign of theocracy fever coming from that quarter. However, at this point the advancers of Islam are the greater danger because of their explicit intention to overthrow our constitutional government, institute Sharia law, and subjugate us all. And the more I see of developments such as what has turned up in the wake of the GZ mosque disclosures, the more certain I am that this is not a vague or marginal threat.

I'm fine with the love of oil. I'm not fine with the Bush, Obama, and every other presidency stretching back a couple decades caving in to the Mother Earthers and Climate Change Fascists and leaving us dependent for our energy on what amounts to a gang of desert tribal thugs. We could have had energy independence decades ago. I can remember back in the 70s the yapping about how it's good to be dependent on foreign oil because it will foster "peaceful cooperation".

Yeah, right.

Some part of all the blood spilt "for oil" is on the hands of every single anti-drilling, anti-nuclear, cover-every-inch-of-the-world-with-windmills-and-solar-panels-and-bicycle-lanes a-hole who stood in the way of energy independence all these years.

It accomplishes more by numbers than by anything else.

It is a notice to those who can't stand Obama's policies that not only are they not alone, but a big come uppance is enroute and to keep on

There's nothing the government fears more than it's people, especially when they march in the streets.

Our government has reason to be very afraid.

I'll stand with Christianity any day! I can insult them in them in the most bold ways and they just say they'll pray for me. Arrogant? Yes. But I don't fear Christianity. If anything, as I say time and time again, the moooslems and their thug prophet have made me see what an amazing man of peace Jesus and his gospel was. I still prefer Siddharta though, cause he didn't have to die for my sins. He just helps me understand the processes of the human mind and how I can make it through this life. And fuck him too! :)

If you see the Buddha on the road, kill him.

Wouldn't hesitate if he tried to harm me. But that's what Buddhism teaches: common sense. Everthing is sacred, but nothing is sacred. I really get that.

To my mind, Siddhartha discovered the processes of the human mind 3,000 years before Freud. I hold both him and Freud as giants among men.
