OK, "where were you"? I was packed into the office of the president of the Massachusetts College of Art with the rest of the students and faculty. Leaning against his desk, watching this scene on his tv with my jaw hanging open like everyone else's. Then we all sort of drifted out the doors and went home...

I don't know for sure. It was the day before my 2nd birthday.

MR - you are the same age as my brother - I am a year older and it is my first memory, really. Watching Bozo's Circus and then the news cutting in about the shooting. Me running into the kitchen (moms were always in the kichen back then, it seems), yelling "the President was shot." I had no idea what that meant, only that something that interrupted my show must be important.

Bobby Kennedy's death is much clearer. "On to Chicago." (My hometown). And then it was over.

I remember the train. Really, really well.

So sad.
