Friday Night Special

Even if you're not a country music fan you've heard this song.

What you may not know is that it was written by Shel Silverstein, same guy that wrote those wonderful books The Giving Tree and Where the Sidewalk Ends.

Something else you may not know. When he recorded the song it was pretty much the first time Johnny had ever seen the song.

Recording live at San Quentin, he had only a few minutes to rehearse this. As you watch the video you'll notice he is reading the lyrics from a music stand.

oh, and wherever my copy of the giving tree is... if you are aware of its hiding spot, can you let me know so i can take it with me? some books aren't meant to be left behind.

Thought it was in the bunker but it's not. Maybe in your room? Did you take it with the last load of books you took awhile back?
