Protesters clash with police as 100,000 strong London Gaza demo descends into violence

Who would have imagined that a herd of Muslims and leftists would turn to violence to express themselves?

Violent clashes occurred between police and around 20,000 protesters outside the Israeli Embassy in London - with an estimated 100,000 protesters airing their views around the city.

Windows were smashed and policemen were injured - with one officer knocked unconscious in the running battles and two requiring treatment for facial injuries.

The protesters - mainly young men - knocked down barriers threw missiles including eggs, red paint, sticks and shoes as 300 officers in full riot gear tried to maintain the peace.

There were reports that some protesters had tried to set fire to police vans.

The violence, which broke out in front of the Israeli Embassy, appeared to be led by a hard-core of masked and hooded youths.

A national demonstration against Israel's attack marched from Speakers' Corner at Hyde Park today to the Israeli embassy in High Street Kensington.

It was estimated there were around 100,000 protesters in total across London, including the Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park and Kensington protests.

There was a heavy police presence lining the route taken by the protesters.

Chanting 'free, free Palestine', the crowd was led through the streets of London by a vocal group of largely young men.

A Starbucks coffee shop in the area was stripped of chairs and had its front windows smashed, and protestors also removed fittings from the shop.

Residents living in flats above watched the scenes from their windows, and many people pleaded with police to let them out of the cordon.

At one point, the protesters were seen to throw shoes at mounted police posted in the Notting Hill area.

The march ground to a halt outside the Israeli embassy as tens of thousands of people surged past carrying placards.

At a number of points, officers asked some of the noisier and more enthusiastic protesters to 'calm down'.

There was pushing and shoving between protesters and police in riot gear outside the embassy building.

Demonstrators chanted noisily and tossed shoes over the heads of the police ranks towards the embassy.

A series of heavily policed demonstrations with up to 2,000 pro-Palestinian supporters have already been held outside the Israeli embassy in London.

Commander Bob Broadhurst said: 'A group of people on this demonstration have set out to deliberately confront and antagonise police officers trying to protect the Embassy of Israel.

'We are very disappointed by the irresponsible and criminal actions of those who have challenged police by ripping apart security barriers and throwing objects at them.'

Bullshit is right. Wait for it here. Our descent into madness.

And this is what Al Qaida and their ilk want. Turning us against ourselves.

Makes their job so much easier.

The BBC tells it as it was:

"The protest started peacefully but there were confrontations as police tried to move demonstrators away from the gates of the Israeli embassy."

OK, I must now go back at sniffing mushrooms.

The ultimate in hypocrisy:

"Belfast Lord Mayor Tom Hartley of Sinn Fein said: 'The full-scale military assault on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people including the slaughter of women and children."

This would be the same sinn fein that was the political wing of the IRA that was responsible for the death of over 600 innocent people including women and children during its nearly 30 year campaign.

I would have been one of them if I hadn't have missed the early train to Manchester in June 96.

The police should have rounded them up and given them a one way ticket to Gaza if they feel so strongly about it. Scum, pure scum.

The Brits tolerated the IRA, and now they reap what they sow. There should never be any negotiating with terrorists. When you negotiate with terrorists, the terrorists end up running the government.

Of course, that's what we've allowed to happen in Gaza. And now, we are reaping what we have sown.

"Violent protests against violence, by followers of Religion of Peace"

How's that for an ultra ironic headline?

To end the present crisis, the burden now really lies with Hamas. It should stop the fighting and call for cease fire for the sake of its people. The way I see it is Israel will not rest until it wipes Gaza clean. The international community should press Israel to enter cease fire. Countless innocent people including children are being killed to propagate geo-political agendas with deadly religious spin added to it.

Joezeon,
Will you please explain to us what is the religious agenda Israel is pursuing?

Maybe cops should sort of stop running around in riot gear and expecting a riot whenever there's a protest march. You might be sending the wrong message, like, "We are afraid of you so we have to dress up like frightened right-wing nuts." It's a sure way to antagonize certain strata of the population.

You guys--and cops everywhere--love violence. You've grown up with violence as a family dynamic. Most of you hide behind this phony simpering 18th C. ruffle-sleeved dandy routine when you try to write something, tossing out words like 'irony' and 'leftists,' 'ilks' and 'petards' everywhere, but in reality you've simply taught the rest of the world that violence is a form of love.

You shouldn't be surprised when others who disagree with you begin to apply the same principles of violent behavior they've learned from you to their own 'agendas.'

You lost. You lost a lot of stuff.

THE ISLAMICIZATION OF BRITAIN IS COMPLETE. WHT DONT YOU DEPORT THE PEOPLE WEARING HAMAS HEADBANDS TO GAZA...

Violent protests are not acceptable and the liberals who wash their hands of saying "we wanted a peaceful protest" should be held responsible for this violence and made to pay for it.Any MP who supports this should be removed from parliament.

If you dont like a country's policy why are you staying in it ?

God Bless America.

So, because a cop is wearing riot gear when he's outnumbered dozens to one is the cause of someone burning a Synagogue, or smashing it's glass. Making sure they bring the tools needed for such to aprotest because they just know there's going to be cops in riot gear and that it will set them off to violence. Am I understanding this? Now, not only do the people not have a right to defend themselves (especially in gun free Britain), not only do couintries not have a right to defend themselves from rogue missles, but now cops have no right to defend themselves from thugs throwing rocks weilding clubs hiding behind some sort of freedom of protest.

It wasn't Catholics flew planes into the skyscrapers. Wasn't baptists that took American Hostages in 1979. Wasn't Episcopalians who cut off Nick Berg's head or Danny Pearl's. And it wasn't Lutherns who fired rockets into Israeli schools and nursing homes. And fuck me I didn't see a cop in riot gear anywhere. Nor do I recall any right wing nut initiating any of those atrocities.

Do I want a fight? Of course not. I'd rather have a beer.

But rest assured. if I hear breaking glass in the middle of the night and someone moving around, possibly towards my daughters room, they are not going to be met with negotiations. They're not there for some sort of kegger and will be met with enough violence to stop them. Cold.

"Then He said to them, But now he that hath a bag, let him take it, and likewise a scrip: and he that hath none, let him sell his coat, and buy a sword." Luke 22:36

Self defense, by violence if need be, is a human right, not a priviledge. Whether you're a citizen, a cop or the state Of Israel. And don't try to sell me that practicing my right to self defense is causing you to attack me.

Leaving aside the entire God gave that land to the Israelites argument. . .

If Canadians started lobbing rockets over the border because they wanted Buffalo or Erie for themselves and wanted all Americans out, would you make the same argument? AND TURN THEM OVER?

Interesting, I don't remember us ever having a Jew-hating thread here at IBA. The Jew-haters usually stay away from our blog.

They must be getting more brave these days.

Pastorius said...

You Jew-haters are going to die in your own vomit.

Pastorius I've noticed that in the past couple days on a few threads. A comment here a comment there. So the protests are even reaching us directly now.

Pastorius said...

I'm happy to have it out in the open.

In the end, if we know who the enemies are, we know who to kill.

Me too. Late last night especially seem to be a bit of a swarm. No sooner get a comment up, hit another thread then respond to the first again.

Bring 'em on.
