Brigette Gabriel on Islam & the UN Definiton of Genocide

In the religion of peace, my ass, IT'S A COOKBOOK! department:

The United Nations defines genocide as “any… acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such…”

Both the Koranic policy of Jihad and Dhimmitude are both directly genocidal, by this definition:

First, the Koran describing Jihad:

When you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks, then when you have made wide slaughter among them, tie fast the bonds, then set them free, either by grace or ransom, until the war lays down its burdens. - 47:4
(different translation: ) When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield, strike off their heads, and when you have laid them low, bind your captives firmly.

Allah is an enemy to unbelievers. - Sura 2:98

On unbelievers is the curse of Allah. - Sura 2:161

Fight unbelievers who are near to you. 9:123 (different translation:
Believers! Make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Let them find harshness in you. (another source: ) Ye who believe! Murder those of the disbelievers....

Muhammad is Allah's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another. Through them, Allah seeks to enrage the unbelievers. - 48:29

Prophet! Make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal sternly with them. Hell shall be their home, evil their fate. - 66:9

Allah has cursed the unbelievers and proposed for them a blazing hell. - 33:60

Unbelievers are enemies of Allah and they will roast in hell. - 41:14

O believers, take not Jews and Christians as friends; they are friends of each other. Those of you who make them his friends is one of them. God does not guide an unjust people. - 5:54

Make war on them until idolatry is no more and Allah's religion reigns supreme - 8:39

It is not for any Prophet to have captives until he has made slaughter in the land. - 8:67

Allah will humble the unbelievers. Allah and His apostle are free from obligations to idol-worshipers. Proclaim a woeful punishment to the unbelievers. - 9:2-3

When the sacred months are over, slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. - 9:5

Believers! Know that idolators are unclean. - 9:28

The unbelievers among the People of the Book and the pagans shall burn forever in the fire of hell. They are the vilest of all creatures. - 98:51

Fight them so that Allah may punish them at your hands, and put them to shame. (verse cited in Newsweek 2/11/02)

Second, Dhimmitude, a policy of deliberate Cultural obliteration

For those not killed by the invading Muslims, they might be allowed to live as Dhimmis; their lives are spared if they surrender to a set of humiliating and oppressive laws and regulations that demand subservience and guarantee the eventual extinction of their culture.

The Pact of Umar is a fundamental document in prescribing the condition of tolerated "People of the Book" (Jews and Christians) living within Muslim-controlled states.

Dhimmi are granted the right to practice their own religious rites in privacy. The protection of their persons and property was also part of the pact but the punishment for infringement was less severe than for a Muslim. During aberrant fundamentalist movements, these rights varied or did not apply.

To secure their rights, dhimmi would pledge loyalty to their Muslim rulers, pay a special poll-tax (the jizya) for adult males, and in general show deference and humility to Muslims in social interactions.

While the conditions of the Pact were authoritative, the level of enforcement varied, as shown by the existence of churches constructed long after the Muslim conquests.

We Christians:

1 - We shall not build, in our cities or in their neighborhood, new monasteries,

2 - churches,

3 - convents,

4 - or monks' cells,

5 - nor shall we repair, by day or by night, such of them as fall in ruins

6 - or are situated in the quarters of the Muslims. . . .

7- We shall not give shelter in our churches or in our dwellings to any spy,

8 - nor hide him from the Muslims. We shall not teach the Quran to our children.

9 - We shall not manifest our religion publicly

10 - nor convert anyone to it.

11 - We shall not prevent any of our kin from entering Islam if they wish it.

12 - We shall show respect toward the Muslims, and

13 - we shall rise from our seats if they wish to sit.

14 - We shall not seek to resemble the Muslims by imitating any of their garments, the headgear, the turban, footwear, or the parting of the hair.

15 - We shall not speak as they do,

16 - nor shall we adopt their honorific names.

17 - We shall not mount on saddles,

18- nor shall we gird swords nor bear any kind of arms nor carry them on our persons.

19 - We shall not engrave Arabic inscriptions on our seals.

20 - We shall not sell fermented drinks. (i.e. Alcohol)

21 - We shall not display our crosses or our books in the roads or markets of the Muslims.

22 - We shall only use clappers in our churches very softly.

23 - We shall not raise our voices in our church services or in the presence of Muslims,

24 - nor shall we raise our voices when following our dead.

25 - We shall not show lights on any of the roads of the Muslims or in their markets.

26 - We shall not bury our dead near the Muslims.

27 - We shall not take slave who have been allotted to the Muslims.

28 - We shall not build houses over-topping the houses of the Muslims.

Once again, the UN Definition of Genocide:

The United Nations defines genocide as “any… acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such…”

Ezra Levant to the US Congress: Put Canada On The List Of Human Rights Abusers

Yeah, like that's gonna happen.

But, it does make sense, doesn't it?

From Ezra Levant:

I had the pleasure of making a presentation as an expert witness to the U.S. Congress's bi-partisan human rights caucus today.

I didn't count, but I'd estimate that there were over 100 people there. I met quite a few readers of my blog, and even a donor to my legal defence fund -- what a warm welcome in a far away city! There were a surprising number of journalists, including Luiza Savage, Maclean's magazine's Washington Bureau Chief. And there were a lot of religious liberty NGOs, including those from the Bahai, Hindu and Buddhist communities -- including several in bright orange monk's robes.

My fellow panellists were impressive, especially the Turkish scholar whose specialty was documenting the treatment of apostates in Muslim countries, and the State Department lawyer who is the point-person in response to the international diplomatic campaign to have criticism of Islam criminalized. And -- very usefully -- the second secretary of the Pakistani Embassy was there. It was very striking to hear, directly from the source, the plans that Pakistan and the rest of the Muslim world have when it comes to censoring their critics through the twisting of Western legal apparatuses. It was like getting a glimpse at the other team's playbook -- and having our worst fears confirmed. Frankly, I was surprised that she showed up.

... it was a fascinating discussion, and the question-and-answer session was particularly clarifying. But for now, allow me to post my prepared comments. I've put in bold a few of my favourite comments. If I had to think of my most important suggestion, it would be for the U.S. Congress to add Canada to its watch list of countries that abuse human rights like freedom of speech and freedom of religion. What do you think?

My expertise in the subject matter of today’s session was not acquired voluntarily, but by unhappy experience: I have been the subject of government persecution for my political and religious views for nearly 900 days. Unfortunately, stories like mine are not uncommon in the world. But they’re not supposed to happen in Canada, one of the freest countries.

In February of 2006, I was the publisher of a Canadian magazine called the Western Standard. We published a news story about the Danish cartoons of Mohammed, and the riots in the Muslim world that followed. To illustrate what all the fuss was about, we accompanied the story with pictures of several of those cartoons. It was a news story in a news magazine.

Before our magazine even hit the streets, a radical imam named Syed Soharwardy asked the police to arrest me – for blaspheming against Islam. The police didn’t, of course.

But the Alberta “human rights commission”, a government agency, accepted Soharwardy’s complaint, and then an identical one from the Edmonton Council of Muslim Communities.

The government has been investigating me ever since, including summoning me to a 90-minute interrogation. According to access to information documents, no fewer than 15 bureaucrats are working on my case. I’m a major crime scene!

Since then, Canada’s largest news magazine, called Maclean’s – our equivalent to Time magazine – was sued in three different human rights commissions for writing about the demographic growth of Islam in the West. And the Halifax Chronicle-Herald, the largest newspaper in Atlantic Canada, is being pursued by Nova Scotia’s human rights commission for printing an editorial cartoon depicting a local Muslim activist in a niqab – even though that is how she dresses.

In other words, Canadian human rights commissions -- secular government organizations -- are prosecuting religious fatwas. It’s a soft jihad against any criticism of radical Islam. It’s called “lawfare”, and it’s a greater danger to our western values of freedom, religious pluralism and the separation of church and state than the hard jihad of terrorism is. Even if targets like Maclean’s eventually “win”, they lose; the process is the punishment – and the chill affects everyone else.

Go read the whole thing.

Ezra Levant is a hero of Western Civilization.

If you haven't seen it before, here is a video of his testimony before the Alberta Civil Rights Commission. It is stunning in it ballsiness.

Only 57% Of Americans Believe Obama Is A Christian

He says he's a Christian. That's good enough in America. Part of the reality of having Freedom of Religion/Conscience is it means that a person is whatever religion he says he is.

If a person says he is God himself, and he worships himself, then that is his religion in America.

I like it that way. I like that we are free to do what we want. I wouldn't want anyone telling me we can't do what we want, so I accept the weird with the good.

Decadence is the exhaust of Freedom. Just make sure you don't get trapped in a closed garage breathing in the exhaust of those who abuse Freedom.

Stand in the free air, and have a good time watching all the loonies showing what happens when a dog eats its own vomit. It's cool.

Anyway, I say all that as a lead-in to saying, if Obama says he's a Christian, then as far as I'm concerned, we have to believe him.

He is the Moshiach Baruch O'Bummer, after all.

That doesn't mean, however, that we have to believe Obama believes in
Christianity as it is defined by those who adhere to Orthodoxy.

He has a right to believe what he wants to believe, and we have a right to doubt him. Ain't that America?

From Gateway Pundit:

Only 57% of registered voters believe Barack Obama is a Christian.

Is this really a surprise?

After Americans were introduced to his
hateful anti-American pastor of 20 years...

...Is it any wonder that Americans have absolutely no idea what faith community the Obama's belong to?

Si, se poo-ay-day.

Iranian Christian Convert Detained By Secret Police

Where the hell is Barack Hussein Obama on this? He was born of a Muslim father, and raised, in the very early part of his life, a Muslim.

That makes him a Muslim according to Muslim law.

Ex-Muslims converts - to Christianity, Buddhism, Atheism, etc. - all over the world live under threat of death for their apostasy.

And yet, Obama because of his position is left to go scot-free.

A former Muslim who converted to Christianity is being held by Iran’s secret police on suspicion of “apostasy,” or leaving Islam, according to a report Wednesday.

Mahmood Matin, 52, has been held in a detention center in the southern city of Shiraz since his arrest on May 15, according to Compass Direct news. His wife, who visited him on June 24, said Matin did not know where he was being held until she told him, according to a source who requested to remain anonymous for security reasons.

Matin told his wife that authorities were pressing him to reveal what foreign church he was connected to. But that he told them he was not related to any church outside of Iran.

The imprisoned convert claims he is being treated well, but his wife believes otherwise. During their five-minute conversation, officials were listening in, the source noted.

Matin was originally arrested in May when he met with 13 other Muslim converts to Christianity in a park in Shiraz.

Under Iranian law, apostasy is a crime that can be punishable by death. The county’s parliament is reviewing this month a draft penal code that would make the death penalty mandatory for anyone found guilty of leaving Islam or who uses the Internet to encourage others to do so.

Just What Is This Domestic Sharia Law The Archbishop and The Lord Chief Justice Are So Hot For?

The Archcunthip and The Lord Chief Pussois of England are both in agreement, we ought to entertain the idea of using Sharia law for domestic situations, so Muslims can feel as if they are serving Allah and Mammon too.

But, what is domestic Sharia law? Cal Thomas explains:

So this is how it ends: not with a bang, but a whimper.

The most senior
judge in England has declared that Islamic legal principles in Sharia law may be
used within Muslim communities in Britain to settle marital arguments and
regulate finance.

Lord Chief Justice Lord Phillips said, "Those entering
into a contractual agreement can agree that the agreement shall be governed by a
law other than English law."

In his speech at an East London mosque,
Lord Phillips said Muslims in Britain could use Islamic legal principles as long
as punishments - and divorce rulings - comply with English law.

law does not comply with English law. It is a law unto itself.

And so
the English, who gave us the Magna Carta in 1215, William Blackstone and the
foundation of American law, are slowly succumbing to the dictates of intolerant
Islam and sowing seeds of their own destruction.

The Iranian and Kurdish
Women's Rights Organization (IKWRO), an umbrella group of activists who work in
Muslim countries to liberate women from the dark side of this oppressive force,
according to Womensphere.wordpress.com, identifies Sharia family law as the
fundamental basis for discrimination against women in the Muslim world,
including communities in the United Kingdom.

Here are just some of the
"benefits" British Muslim women can look forward to if Sharia law replaces
English law:

n The Muslim woman cannot marry without parental approval,
worsening the problem of forced marriage.

n Marriages can be conducted
without the presence of a bride, as long as the guardian consents, creating a
climate for underage and early marriage.

n Muslim women may only marry
Muslim men.

It gets worse.

n A Muslim man can divorce his wife
by repudiating her.

n They have no obligation to support a former wife,
or her children after the divorce.

n Women are prohibited from divorcing
husbands without his consent.

n Abuse is not grounds for a woman to end
a marriage.

n In matters of inheritance, sons are entitled to twice as
much of an estate as daughters.

n Divorced women must remain single. If
they remarry, they can lose custody of their children. There is no similar
requirement for a man.

n Child custody often reverts to the father at a
preset age, even if the father has been abusive.

It is impossible to
reconcile this antiquated "law" with English law, so what could Lord Phillips
mean when he says that Sharia law can be used in Muslim communities as long as
such laws comply with English law?

This will mean English law must
become subordinate to Sharia law.

This is Dhimmitude, an Islamic system
of religious apartheid begun in the 7th century that forces all other religions
and cultures to accept an inferior status once Muslims become the majority.

Go read the whole thing.

An Offer We Can't Refuse: Muslim World League Organizes Prominent Interfaith Conference In Madrid

Saudi King Abdullah will open the conference which is to be attended by luminaries such as the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams His Billiousness Al Gore.

From Babba Zee's:

An international interfaith conference taking place in Madrid next week is being hosted by a Saudi charity that is affiliated with organizations blacklisted by the U.S. government for bankrolling al-Qaeda-linked terrorist groups.

Among those invited to attend the gathering organized by the Muslim World League (MWL) are former Vice President Al Gore and senior figures from the world’s leading religions.

The high-profile July 16-18 event will be opened by Saudi King Abdullah, who laid the groundwork with a preparatory meeting -- also organized by the MWL -- of Sunni and Shi’ite leaders in Mecca last month.

The MWL’s invitation list for the Madrid event includes 170 participants, including Gore, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, the Vatican’s head of inter-religious dialogue Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, and Rabbi David Rosen, the head of interreligious affairs at the American Jewish Committee. Attendance has not been confirmed.

MWL secretary-general Abdullah Al- Turki told the Saudi Press Agency that the conference would seek “to isolate those forces that try to promote hatred and create conflicts.”

“By holding this major gathering of religions, ideologies and civilizations, the MWL wants to emphasize the importance of religion for humanity,” he said.

But the Mecca-based MWL, which has close ties to the Saudi government, is itself highly controversial.

The league is one of the so-called “big four” Saudi charities whose activities have been exercising U.S. officials dealing in terrorism funding since 9/11. The others are the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) and al-Haramain – both constituent bodies of the league – and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY).

In August 2006 the U.S. Treasury Department -- under a post-9/11 executive order -- designated branches of the IIRO in Indonesia and the Philippines for channeling funds respectively to Jemaah Islamiah and Abu Sayyaf Group, both affiliated to al-Qaeda.

In the designation, the department says the IIRO is also known as “The Human Relief Committee of the Muslim World League.”

The Treasury Department also designated 13 al-Haramain branches across the world, including one in the United States. Last month it added to the list al-Haramain in its entirety, including its Saudi headquarters. It said the organization had provided financial and material support to al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.

Designation under Executive Order 13224 aims to disrupt funding to terrorists. Americans are prohibited from engaging in transactions with those listed, and any assets they may have in the U.S. are frozen.

In mid-2005, undersecretary in the department’s office overseeing terrorist financing Stuart Levey said that Saudi charities, especially the MWL, IIRO and WAMY, “continue to cause us concern,” a position reiterated in Senate testimony later that year by Daniel Glaser, deputy assistant secretary in the same office.

Apart from links to terror financing, the MWL also is accused of spreading the kingdom’s strict Wahhabi brand of Islam through schools and mosques abroad. Wahhabism, named for an 18th century scholar, opposes diversity within Islam and is especially intolerant towards Shi’ites.

Set up in 1962, the MWL’s stated objectives include “the propagation of Islam,” “refutation of dubious statements and false allegations against the religion,” and “convincing people [of] the necessity to obey the commandments of [Allah].”

It enjoys observer status in various U.N. bodies and the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

‘Islam has a solution’

Saudi Arabia is one of just two countries where, according to the State Department’s annual global assessments, basic religious freedom does not exist. (The other is North Korea.)

Yet Abdullah has become a leading proponent of interfaith dialogue
, and last November he held a historic meeting with Pope Benedict XVI.

He first announced the plan for an international interfaith gathering last March, when he told a visiting Japanese cultural delegation that such a dialogue was needed to promote world peace.

However, some skeptics view the Madrid conference as a Saudi exercise in da’wa, the term used in Islam for proselytizing or issuing an invitation for non-Muslims to come to the faith.

Addressing the preparatory conference in Mecca last month, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, Abdul Aziz Al al-Sheikh – the kingdom’s top religious authority – stressed that converting people to Islam was the primary goal of interfaith dialogue.

“It is the opportunity to disseminate the principles of Islam,” the Guardian newspaper quoted al-Sheikh as telling the delegates. “Islam advocates dialogue among people, especially calling them to the path of Allah.”

At the end of the Mecca conference, the participants issued a statement saying that the meeting “has been held at a time when the world faces countless challenges that threaten the very existence of mankind. The conference affirms that Islam has a solution to these crises …”

Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who
disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war…When you meet your enemies who are
polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one
of these, you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any harm.
Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and
desist from fighting against them….If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from
them the Jizya [the tax on non-Muslims specified in Qur’an 9:29]. If they agree
to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the
tax, seek Allah’s help and fight them.

A Civilisation that Whines: Not with a Bang it Fades

Why do people in affluent countries whine so much? There seems to be a competition between developed nations and semi-developed nations such as Russia, to see whose population can whine the loudest. The epidemic of whining has been commented upon in the US:
"We have sort of become a nation of whiners. You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in decline," said the former Texas senator. "You've heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession." __CNN
It is talked about in the UK:
Complaints and the people who make them are often seen as confirmation of the new miserabilism - a condition that led an outburst from Tom Harris MP asking why everyone is so bloody miserable in a world where in the UK at least, we have a lot to be grateful for. __Source
Chronic complaining is becoming an art form in Europe, Japan, South Korea, Canada. Where would the growing army of attorneys, "journalists", activists, "diversity" consultants, pseudo-environmentalists, doomers, and hobby-wankers be without this clamoring culture of complaint? You can understand why the vocational whiners whine. It's their job--they get paid for it! But why do so many people devote so much of their spare time and mental energy to dwelling on the "empty space" in their glass, completely ignoring the abundant liquid sustenance?

It is not that they lack a sense of purpose--not exactly. They have made whining their overriding purpose in life, rather than creating something productive, or solving real world problems. Why would anyone misdirect their precious and limited resource of time to self-fulfilling predictions of doom, harassment, and chronic complaint? Why cannot these avocational doom-wankers find a constructive purpose for their lives?

You have to go deeper, and ask why so many people in the affluent world are not actually "growing up." To understand the answer to that question, you need to understand childhood development better than most current schoolteachers, parents, and child psychologists understand childhood development. Is that possible, you ask? Actually, it is not even difficult. But it will require a lot of reading and objective observation of people--children, adolescents, and adults--in their natural environments. Learn to suspend judgment and try to see what is happening at all levels--social, brain development, psycho-emotional development, and on the level of executive funtion and practical skills.

That is largely what this blog is all about. The next level cannot be formed out of the psychologically neotenous baby boomers. And for every generation since them that has been trained in a neotenous and academically lobotomous way, the way out of that morass is oh, so, hard.

Because that is the shortage we are facing: a shortage of well trained and educated humans with self-reliance and a sense of purpose. Not a shortage of energy, food, health care, money, or anything else the media drones on about. We have a shortage of people--particular kinds of people. We have enough whining clones to populate the entire solar system. What we need are purposeful, independent, innovative-to-the-need-at-hand, well trained, and emotionally mature people who are willing to work hard for what they want.Taken from an article previously published Abu Al Fin

Israeli Jets Training Over Iraq

... and landing at American Air Force bases.

From Carl in Jerusalem:

A source in the Iraqi defense ministry told a local news network on Friday that Israeli jets have been practicing flying over Iraq for the last month and then landing at US bases in Iraq.

According to the sources, security has been beefed up at the US bases in question.
According to the Defense Ministry officials, retired Iraqi army officers in the Al Anbar district reported that fighter jets have been regularly entering Iraqi airspace from Jordan and landing at the airport near Haditha.

The sources estimated that should the Israeli jets take off from the American bases it would take them no more than five minutes to reach Iran's nuclear reactor in Bushehr.

And the Israeli calculus edges closer- IAF practices in Iraq- as oil goes over $146 on nerves

Oil isn't going to come down until the USA proves we can PROTECT oil traffic transiting the Strait of Hormuz...meanwhile,,,,,

Israel Air Force (IAF) war planes are practicing in Iraqi airspace and land in US airbases on the country as preparation for a potential strike on Iran, sources in the Iraqi Defense Ministry told a local news network, Friday.

The report, carried also by Iranian news outlets, claimed that recently massive nocturnal activity by IAF craft was noted in several American held airbases, including measures by the US army to increase security around the bases.

The Jerusalem Post could not confirm the veracity of the report.

According to the sources, former military officers in the Anbar province said IAF jets arrive during the night from Jordanian airspace, enter Iraq's airspace and land on a runway near the city of Hadita. The sources estimated the jets were practicing for a raid on Iran's nuclear sites.

The sources also said the American bases in Iraq might serve as a platform for the IAF from which to attack Iran. If Israeli warplanes will take off from Iraq, they can reach Bushehr in five minutes - a "record time," the sources said.

After reports of a massive IAF exercise over the Mediterranean surfaced several weeks ago, an Israeli official told the times that the drill was "the dress rehearsal" for an attack on Iran's nuclear sites.

The Photoshop Missiles of Iran, and Saddam's BIG MISTAKE

Don't you just wonder, btw, how much the livers of the Kosites and, DU's and Puffho's are filled with bile at LGF and Charles Johnson, AGAIN, and AGAIN....

We now know, from the interviews with Saddam after his capture, that he was trying to convince everyone he really DID have WMD's when he prevented the UN inspectors from fulfilling their tasks in the months leading up to the invasion of Iraq.He also believed the USA could be stopped via his plethora of bribes to the UN, France, Russia and Germany, and that he would be free to act once the same process had lifted sanctions.

Of course WE KNOW, that in the post Pearl Harbor, post 9/11 USA, nothing could have more guaranteed our invasion than his actions over a threat which did not exist, but he did the most to insure we believed was real.

Comes our new friends, the Hojatieh of Iran and the mad mullahs dead set on making us believe they are willing and able to create a 'ball of fire' in the middle east, and their unwitting sunni allies warning of 'unlimited oil' price increases, when they are afraid the whole thing (Israel unleashing a process begun by Iran....) will result in such chaos they get chopped.

Azarakhsh1018.jpgSo we see their new plane, which turns out to be really a 1960's US trainer, the T-38, which we made in to a low tech lightweight fighter for Taiwan (the F-5), with twin tails 40 years later.
Their navy, while they now own several VERY CAPABLE Russian Kilo subs, remains based on cigar boat swarm tactics, and now to enhance THEIR deterrence they resort to Photoshop to Crayola in extra missiles as if this makes a difference to the those who are trying to figure out if the Iranian nuclear test will be in Tel Aviv.

This is a reminder to be critical in our approch to Iran.
They are not ten feet tall.
That means they may be making the same mistake Saddam made.

Our error in Iraq has meaning. It's not enough to believe they are doing what we think they are, WE must be certain. Israel, however has a different calculus to figure.

Never the less, I hope someone is delivering a message to Khameinei that if they are making up things up to deter us, as Saddam did, they are on the exact path to ENSURE we attack them by their lies, and people are going to get killed for NOTHING. Only they know where they are in their process to refine enough U-235, or/and then process plutonium for weapons. Maybe they are 5 years off (I doubt it), or maybe they are months away (far more likely...it took us 10 months in 1944-45), but if they are 5 years off, and are trying to convince us it's 5 months ..... Iraq redux, without the occupation.

And in Britain ..IT IS RESISTANCE

Well, there seem to be a few recognizing the big lies and, in this world enough to act on that recognition.

The UCU is approaching a crisis. The management at Nottingham Trent University has formally de-recognized the UCU branch as the legitimate representative of the staff there. You can sign the petition against this move on the UCU website.

The former independent adjudicator for higher education Ruth Deech said in a House of Lords debate that because of UCU's support for the campaign to boycott Israeli academics, it should now be considered "an unprofessional union". "Universities would do well to cease to recognise it and to deal with alternatives," she said. She told the Times Higher:

"These efforts to boycott, or to come as close as possible to a boycott, are contrary to race relations legislation and ultra vires the powers of the union.... The UCU has created an atmosphere hostile to Jewish academics and to quality academic research and freedom in this country."

The union is in a poor state to launch an effective defence against the threat of de-recognition. It is widely thought of as being obsessed by the campaign to exclude Israeli academics from UK campuses. It has arrogantly ignored many of its Jewish members who are worried by the spectre of institutional antisemitism. It has complacently brushed aside the advice which tells it that the boycott campaign puts it in legal jeopardy. In other words our union is, at the moment, a union which it is very easy not to take seriously.

Another MENSA shocker for the left...N. Korea admits to using 26 kg of plutonium for nuclear bombs

DUH......I'm so glad we signed another agreement with the people who cavalierly ignored the agreement negotiated by Carter and signed by Clinton in 1994.

North Korea's recent nuclear declaration, turned over to China on June 26, revealed that it used 26 kilograms of enriched plutonium to manufacture nuclear weapons, according to a Japanese newspaper report.
Now, this is NOT using AQ Khan's techniques which are based on a U-235, Little Boy type weapon, which requires more fissionable material, but is so reliable Pakistan had a major stockpile for use, YEARS before they tested. It is THIS technique being used in NATANZ and other places WE KNOW OF in Iran. Plutonium is much more technologically difficult to use as a weapon, but requires far less material. NOrth Korea has clearly mastered both techniques, and more than likely for those of you in MENSA denial, EXPORTED BOTH.

That amount is enough to make three to eight nuclear bombs given that one weapon could be made with roughly 4 to 8 kilograms of weapons-grade plutonium, depending on the technical expertise utilized, Tokyo Shimbun reported on July 4, citing sources close the six-nation talks and the North Korean nuclear issue.

North Korean Ambassador to China Choe Jin Su leaves the Foreign Ministry in Beijing on June 26, after Choe handed over a declaration of nuclear programs. AP/Kyodo, Minoru Iwasaki

North Korea said in its 60-page declaration that it had extracted 38.5 kilograms of plutonium from which 26 kilograms were used to manufacture nuclear warheads, the newspaper said.

Two kilograms were used in the October 2006 nuclear test, it said, and that 7.5 kilograms remain in the fuel rods.

Earlier, CNN, citing the U.S. State Department, said North Korea in the June 26 report acknowledged producing roughly 40 kilograms of plutonium, which falls short of U.S. estimates of 50 kilograms.

In December 2007, North Korea's nuclear envoy Kim Kye-Gwan reportedly told his U.S. counterpart Christopher Hill that the total amount of plutonium was around 30 kilograms and that around 6 kilograms were used for the 2006 nuclear test.

The Tokyo Shimbun said at the time that Kim was confused or had intentionally downsized the amount to test Washington's response.

Seoul's Defense Ministry said in last year's annual report that North Korea was estimated to have produced 40 to 54 kilograms of plutonium.

South Korean officials admitted the North's declared amount contradicts Seoul's officials estimate. But they said the actual amount extracted could be smaller because of losses in the reprocessing.

"The lost plutonium produced gets bigger if the technology level is low," an official said. "Future efforts should be focused on verifying the full extent of North Korea's past plutonium production," he said.

We hear much of the democratic claim that there is nothing to lose in negotiating with nations inimical to the USA.

Clearly, and historically, factually, demonstrably, the creation of a North Korean nuclear arsenal was aided by false confidence that agreements have value to those who see them only as a means to euchre those they deal with.

The democratic position is factually in error.

The 1922 Washington Treaty to outlaw war, the limits negotiated in the 5-5-3 ratio of navies in the Pacific, the Versailles Treaty all failed. They failed because certain peoples felt their interests did not lie with the treaties. Wars broke out because deterrence failed.
Chamberlain and Baldwin were NOT believable enough to deter Hitler. The Japanese thought FDR would negotiate rather than face a long war and much destruction.

Deterrence works (if the enemy doesn't expect to get laid limitlessly as a result of death). Deterrence requires weapons of ultimate destruction, men and women who will unquestionably use them, and the economy (property) to sustain their reliability and society over the long term.

All else is delusional fantasy IN THIS WORLD.

If the enemy is deterred, it is easy to talk, OR NOT, because they know any attack will result result in THE END. If the enemy, as is the case today, is NOT deterred, talking has no point and it's result merely quiets our populace with the opiate of a false promise of a false security in paper.

North Korea was not deterred.
Iran is not deterred.

US Navy conducted major exercise while Mullen was in Israel

The United States Navy conducted a major exercise to test the communications network for its Aegis anti-missile system over the weekend of June 28. At the time, Admiral Michael Mullen (pictured), the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, was in Israel.
The communications test, revealed in the Navy Times, involved ships deployed in the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf.

During his visit to Israel, [Chief of US Naval Operations Adm. Gary] Roughead told The Jerusalem Post that he had discussed missile defense systems and particularly the Aegis system with his Israeli counterparts. Defense officials have said that in the event of a conflict with Teheran it was possible that the US would deploy an Aegis system off Israel's coast to provide another layer of defense against Iranian ballistic missiles.

By 2009, the US Navy will have 18 cruisers and destroyers with operational Aegis systems that are capable of tracking ballistic missiles and intercepting them with ship-launched SM-3 missiles.

"I believe that the proliferation of ballistic missiles is something that will continue to occur [and] I believe that ballistic missiles in the future will become weapons of intimidation and blackmail," Roughead said at the time.

According to the Navy Times, the exercise involved the USN Benfold destroyer in the Persian Gulf and the USN Russell destroyer in the Mediterranean.
The Navy Times, which called the exercise "unprecedented," said that it took place between June 28 and July 2.
On July 2, Vice Adm. Kevin Cosgriff, the 5th Fleet commander based in Bahrain, told a conference of naval leaders in the Persian Gulf that maritime security in the area remains an “essential condition” to global stability.

While not speaking specifically about the BMD exercise, he said naval operations in the area reflect the high stakes involved.

“Conducting these operations in and around the Arabian Gulf sends a signal of security within the region that is commensurate with the area’s global importance,” he said.

The BMD exercise, which took place from June 28 through July 2, involved the destroyer Benfold operating in the Persian Gulf and the destroyer Russell operating in the eastern Mediterranean.

According to 6th Fleet in Naples, Italy, the exercise has been “long scheduled,” with planning initiated last year.

The recent exercise in the Middle East was described as a communications exercise to test the rapid exchange of information between the two fleets.

“During the exercise, the ships will work with one another in detecting, tracking, sharing information and engaging a simulated ballistic missile by sharing data via a number of paths,” according to information from 6th Fleet.

It’s not known whether the scenario involved such a simulated missile being shot from a Persian Gulf nation such as Iran toward a Mediterranean nation such as Israel, or vice versa.

Michael O’Hanlon, a senior fellow for foreign policy and a military expert at the Brookings Institution, said there may be symbolic values to staging such an exercise in the region, given the antagonism among Iran, Israel and the U.S. But more importantly, the exercise will test the military communications both ashore and afloat throughout the region.

“You want to learn how you coordinate the data in real time,” he said.

Bob Work, a senior defense analyst at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, said the tests show the fleet continues to refine its ballistic missile defense tactics.

“The great value of Navy Aegis/BMD ships is that they can position themselves anywhere in the world along likely missile threat axes to maximize the probability of a successful interception,” he said. “Exercises in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf demonstrate that these ships are equally capable operating off of North Korea, near Iran, or near any other potential adversary.”
Someone decided they wanted Iran to know about this, and one has to assume that Iran knew about it before yesterday's exercise. The Bush administration seems to be doing everything possible to deter Iran from going down the path of nuclear weapons, but at the end of the day, this administration 'gets it.' I'm not sure the next one will.

Support Harry's Place Blogburst

Harry’s Place, a UK blog dedicated to promoting the ideals of freedom and democracy, is being sued by Mohammed Sawalha, the President of the British Muslim Initiative, which has been linked to Hamas and the Islamic Brotherhood, both terrorist organizations. The blog reports that Mr. Sawalha, according to the BBC…

“master minded much of Hamas’ political and military strategy” and in London “is alleged to have directed funds, both for Hamas’ armed wing, and for spreading its missionary dawah”.

In their revelation of the impending lawsuit against them leveled by Mohammed Sawalha, they write:

Mr Sawalha claims that we have “chosen a malevolent interpretation of a meaningless word”. In fact, we did no more than translate a phrase which appeared in an Al Jazeera report of Mr Sawalha’s speech. When Al Jazeera changed that phrase from “Evil Jew” to “Jewish Lobby”, we reported that fact, along with the statement that it had been a typographical error.

Mr Sawalha has been the prime mover in a number of Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood associated projects. He is President of the British Muslim Initiative. He is the past President of the Muslim Association of Britain. He was the founder of IslamExpo, and is registered as the holder of the IslamExpo domain name. He is also a trustee of the Finsbury Park Mosque….

…Mr Sawalha says that the attribution of the phrase “Evil Jew” to him implies that he is “anti-semitic and hateful”. Notably, he does not take issue with our reporting of the revelation, made in a Panorama documentary in 2006, that he is a senior activist in the clerical fascist terrorist organisation, Hamas.

It looks like Harry’s Place is going up against some pretty top-notch lawyers on this one, and they’ve got guts, but as the post goes on to say:

If Mr Sawalha persists in attempting to silence us with this desperate legal suit, we will need your help.

We won’t be able to stand up to them alone.

This is why we’ve started this blogburst, to get the word out that we won’t let members of Hamas or any radical terrorist group censor us or any of our fellow bloggers.

Arabic Classes In America

Since 9/11, we have heard of the importance of more of us learning to speak Arabic. Indeed, more and more people today are studying the Arabic language, many of these students enrolled in community colleges and prestigious universities as well as uncounted others studying by using software such as Rosetta Stone. I personally know a few young people who have attempted such classes, only to abandon their study of Arabic; the reasons they gave me, their former teacher, were vague but typically included a level of discomfort with the material or the instructor.

A July 5, 2008 Washington Post commentary, written by a student at Harvard Law School, provides disturbing information about the material offered in such classes:
To study Arabic in America today is to be inducted into a world of longing, abandonment and regret. And that's before you even touch the political issues....

The Gun Is Mightier Than The Sword

From Ralph Peters, via Redneck's Revenge:

New York Post - THE greatest lie intellectuals tell us is that "the pen is mightier than the sword." That's what cowards claim when they want to preen as heroes.

Billions of words have been hurled at Sudan's government. The misery in Darfur not only continues but deepens. While intellectuals wrestled with compound sentences, Darfur degenerated from selective oppression to savage anarchy.

Legions of columnists and commentators have deplored Robert Mugabe's monstrous rule in Zimbabwe. But none of the hand-wringing by American, European or even African intellectuals restrained one fist or stopped one club in midair.

Guess who "won" that election.

Regiments of professors and pundits have bemoaned China's gobbling of Tibet for half a century. The result? Beijing cracked down even harder.

"Brave" columnists wrote countless columns bemoaning the suffering of the Kurds and the Shia under Saddam Hussein. Their earnest paragraphs didn't save a single life.

Only when better men acted did the surviving victims of one of the world's worst dictatorships glimpse freedom - an imperfect freedom but better than a mass grave.

Nothing positive is going to happen in Sudan or Zimbabwe (or Tibet) until rule-of-law states take action. As outraged activists scribble on, Beijing blithely continues supporting these and other rogue regimes (and our president crawls to the Olympics - it's as if FDR had rushed to the games in Berlin).

There was a good reason the assassins of 9/11 attacked the targets they did, rather than steering those planes into Columbia University or Harvard Yard: They knew that the potency of the intellectual is illusory, that it dissolves at the first shot.

As I pointed out on July 4, even our glorious Declaration of Independence and our Constitution would be no more than bizarre artifacts had they not been defended by patriots willing to fight.

Does anyone really believe that there's anything we can write or say that will persuade al Qaeda to make nice? It's on the strategic defensive today but only because our soldiers and Marines thumped the hell out of its cadres in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The point isn't that military solutions are always the best solutions - any problem that can be resolved without bloodshed should be handled peaceably. But we've got to stop playing pretend: In this hate-plagued, often merciless world, events sometimes demand action, not just talk.

Our diplomats and "distinguished commentators" see the world from the 17th floor of a luxury hotel or the office of an English-speaking Cabinet member. The insular safety of their lives has convinced them that every problem has a peaceful solution if only we can all have a good chat.

But those who rule by the sword (or the fist, or engineered famines or outright genocide) don't want to hash things out. They want to win.

No elegant phrase has ever stopped a bullet in midflight.

Please, educate me: In over 5,000 years of more or less recorded history, how many tyrannies have been overthrown by noble sentiments? How many genocides have been averted by reasonable discussions? How many wars have been prevented by Quakers?

Pacifism, in the face of evil, is suicide. Therefore, absolutist political pacifism is the most evil idea in the world.

Barak Hints At Israel's Readiness To Strike Iran

I saw this story at some news source whose name I can not remember (due to my exteme antipathy to the news source itself).

If you want to do so, you can google the story, and you will find it.

Here's a quote, I do remember from the story. It is from Ehud Barak, the Israeli Defense Minister.

"Israel is the strongest country in the region and has proved in the past that it doesn't hesitate to act when its vital security interests are at stake."

Barack Obama's "Assault On Hope" Jihad

Obama! The most un-American Kenyan Indonesian American one world candidate you can get. (I think what he meant to say, is We should all learn to speak Arabic)
What galls me is how he smugly laughs contemptuously at the American people. Watch the video.

Obama's book in the West is titled 'The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on reclaiming the American Dream'.

The Indonesian version of obama's book is translated as "assault (or attack) on hope (or expectation): from jakarta to the white house".

Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, is where Obama was raised and attended a madrassa from the ages of 6 to 11. He moved to where his grandma (the one he threw under the bus, sent him to the finest elite private school in Hawaii -- so when you here he grew up on the mean streets of the south side of Chicag- remember it's a media lie).

to the western mind the two words 'assault' and 'hope' together make no sense at all. but to the muslim mind combining the words 'assault' and 'hope' do have meaning (if you are aware of what is in the koran): 'a hopeful assault' means jihad.

Wake Up, America.

"A correct translation of the title of obama's book would have been "keberanian harapan: pemikiran untuk meraih kembali impian america" which translates into "audacity of hope: thoughts on reclaiming the american dream". however, the title for the indonesian translation of barack obama's book is "menerjang harapan: dari jakarta menuju gedung putih" which translates into "assault hope: from jakarta to the white house." Brooklyn's Infidel No-Go Area

All informed readers are aware of the growing Infidel no-go zones in Western Europe. These no-go zones are urban areas controlled by Moslems and their shadow governments. Infidels who wish to keep their heads should stay out of these lawless areas. In England the local police are enforcing these no-go areas by threatening Christians with arrest if they insist on preaching there.

Sarah Honig has an important report in the Jerusalem Post on the growing Infidel no-go area in Brooklyn, New York: "Another Tack: A masjid grows in Brooklyn:"

"We're besieged," she explained. "Making a statement is about all we can do. They aren't delighted to see our flag wave. This is enemy territory."

Kathy had compiled a bulging dossier of press clippings and computer printouts about the masjid that grew in a once heavily Jewish area. Until the mid-1990s, its imam was the late Egyptian-educated Gulshair el-Shukrijumah, dispatched by the Saudis as a Wahhabi missionary in 1985 and financed by them thereafter. His disciple, Clement Rodney Hampton-El, an explosives specialist, possibly helped assemble the bomb detonated in the '93 World Trade Center attack. He was convicted of plotting to blow up the UN, FBI headquarters and the Holland and Lincoln tunnels. Gulshair acted as interpreter for Omar Abdel-Rahman, the "Blind Sheikh" now serving life for the first WTC bombing, conspiring to use explosives at other NYC landmarks and colluding to assassinate US politicians.

BUT OF more immediate concern to Kathy and the few leftover neighborhood natives is the "in-your-face insolence of the immigrants." For years the mosque had been calling the faithful to prayers via a rooftop loudspeaker five times daily. Police intervention persuaded the imam to omit the pre-dawn sonorous summons. Catholic Kathy knows all about "Allahu akhbar" and how the muezzin intones it.

On the way back, I decided to photograph the masjid, sensing it could make a story. Kathy became frantic. "Don't you dare," she almost yelled. As I slipped the camera back into my handbag, she explained that several weeks before my arrival two journalists, Bos Smith and Paul Williams, HAD photographed a similar Brooklyn mosque, Masjid al-Takwa. They were grabbed by 20 ninja-uniformed men, shoved into the mosque cellar, held captive and roughly interrogated by the group's henna-bearded leader, Ali Kareem. He released them only after they fibbed that they were interested in converting to Islam. On a subsequent visit to the site they were accosted again and an attempt was made to seize and break their camera.

"I don't know who may be watching us now," Kathy warned.

"This kind of a relationship," Kathy commented, "just isn't possible these days. Muslims call us infidels and want all infidels out. We're threatened."

Read the whole thing and don't ever think that It Can't Happen Here. By the way, I have it on good authority that the NYPD has been ordered not to investigate Moslem hate crimes directed at Kaffirs.

Iran May Already Have A Full-Fledged Nuclear Warhead

Really? Who woulda thunk it?

Well, at least now, some people in the international community are beginning to face the painfully obvious.

US, European experts believe Iran already has full nuclear capabilities but has chosen to appease international community, suspend uranium enrichment in favor of investing in new centrifuge formation, which in time would allow it to reach its nuclear goals doubly fast
Ron Ben-Yishai
07.10.08, 13:07 /
Israel News

The international pressure and the technical difficulties involved in uranium enrichment have prompted
Iran to change its nuclear development strategy, Western diplomats and nuclear experts said Thursday.

Based on the recent International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and intelligence reports, the Iranians are no longer aggressively trying to create fissionable uranium.

Fissionable uranium contains 90% of uranium isotope 235, which can be used to create a nuclear warhead. According to assessments, the Iranians are no longer developing new warheads for the missiles they posses and are now funneling all their resources towards building new, modern industrial formations which would eventually be able to enrich uranium and manufacture warheads much faster.

At the core of the new formation is said to be an array of new centrifuges, built based on information sold to Iran by Pakistani scientist Abd al-Kader Khan. The new Pakistani P-2 centrifuges – or IR-2 and IR-3, as they are called in Iran – can enrich uranium at double and triple the speed than the 3,000 old centrifuges installed in Iran's Natanz nuclear facility.

Having two sets of centrifuges, said Tehran, will allow it to cut down the time in needs to produce fissionable uranium by two-thirds.

The Natanz facility already sports 300 of the new centrifuges, but since Iran is adamant that its nuclear program is being developed for peaceful purposes, it says it will not be using the new infrastructure to its full capacity, and will not be producing fissionable uranium unless the Iranian leadership decides it needs to produce operational nuclear weapons.

When that moment comes and production is stepped up, Iran would be able to have several operational nuclear warheads within one year's time.

Threshold capabilities
The international intelligence community defines Iran as having "threshold capabilities" – the same as Japan, Germany and Brazil, for example – countries which have the technical ability and know-how, but have chosen not to develop nuclear weapons, opting to sign the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) instead. Counties who are obligated by the NPT are allowed to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, such as for medical or alternative energy use; and are allowed to acquire the necessary materials, under strict IAEA supervision.

Iran has also signed the NPT and as long as it agrees to have IAES inspectors monitor it actions – and should it be able to successfully form its new centrifuge formation – is can be considered a country with legitimate threshold capabilities.

Only if it is proven that Iran is enriching uranium for the clear purpose of building a bomb, would the international community have merit to apply severe sanctions against it, such as an oil embargo and a naval blockade.

After its last inspection of the Iranian facilities, the IAEA has concluded that between December of 2007 and May of 2008 Iran has pumped 2.3 tons of Uranium Hexafluoride gas – UF6 – to the centrifuge formation in Natanz, producing about 300 lbs of low-grade uranium. In layman's terms – Iran already posses the ability to produce any kind of enriched uranium it wants, including full-fledged fissionable uranium. Using the existing centrifuge formation, Iran would need between three to five years before it can produce enough materials to actually build a small nuclear bomb – a rate the Iranians are not happy about.

The IAEA's latest report of Iranian nuclear capabilities noted several covert developments "which should be cause for some concern": Developments of nuclear detonators, high-end experiments involving conventional explosives made to accelerate nuclear warheads' fission and underground nuclear testing facilities.

The most disconcerting find, however was that of computer files suggesting Iran already possesses – and may have already tested – a full-fledged nuclear warhead.

Defense officials: Resolution 1701 'on the verge' of collapse

I'm sure you will all be shocked - just totally shocked - to hear that 'defense officials' warned on Tuesday night that UN Security Council Resolution 1701 is 'on the verge of collapse.' The reasons are what you might expect: Syria and Iran continue to re-arm Hezbullah. Am I allowed to say "I told you so" yet?
Defense officials said Israel's only course of action at present was to attempt to place pressure on diplomatic officials from European countries that contribute to UNIFIL.

"Syria is rearming Hizbullah at a rapid pace and this is proof that 1701 has completely failed," one official said.

The peacekeeping force's mandate will be up for renewal next month and Israel is looking to see if it will be possible to make changes that will give the force more freedom to prevent Hizbullah's rearmament.
You've got to be kidding. Now that Hezbullah controls the Lebanese government and no one has it by its you-know-whats (as we did two summers ago), does anyone really think that Lebanon is going to agree to 'changes that will give the force [UNIFIL] more freedom to prevent Hezbullah's rearmament?' And even if they would agree to 'changes,' it would be like closing the door of the barn after the horses, the cows and every other animal on the farm has escaped.

And the Olmert-Barak-Livni-Yishai government is telling us that the 'only course of action' is 'diplomatic pressure.' That ought to work real well....

But here's the most ironic part of the whole story: The architect of the failure that is Resolution 1701 - Foreign Minister Tzipi Feigele the Failure Livni (the woman who would be Prime Minister who thinks she's Golda Meir) - visited Israel's northern border on Tuesday with Italian foreign minister Franco Frattini, and announced to the world that Israel must 'disarm Hezbullah now.' And how is she going to do that? Through 'diplomacy?"
"Hizbullah must be disarmed," she said. "We now have an opportunity to disarm Hizbullah, and we must not lose it… if we do not do it now, it will be much more difficult later on."

The foreign minister went on to say that a situation which "allows a terror organization to be a member of a government that is perceived as legitimate is intolerable. While claiming to be a government coalition member, Hizbullah had to explain to the Lebanese residents of these villages why they had to pay the price they did, and in the weeks to come - when I hope we will complete the prisoner exchange - they will have to explain it to them again."

"Hizbullah does not represent the interests of the people of Lebanon," she emphasized.
Kind of like Hamas doesn't represent the interests of the 'Palestinians' even though the 'Palestinians' elected them, eh? As to our 'opportunity' to disarm Hezbullah, that was blown two summers ago when Livni and her friends Ehud K. Olmert, Comrade Peretz and Dan Halutz didn't have the you-know-whats to bomb southern Lebanon back to the stone age. At least Peretz and Halutz have paid for their incompetence. Olmert and Livni continue to pretend that 'twas a famous victory.'

But wait because it gets even better. Livni's incompetence and sheer chutzpa know no bounds.
"Unfortunately decision 1701 was not completed by the Lebanese side and I hope that during the next few days it will be implemented with the return of the kidnapped soldiers," Livni said.
Huh? Forget for a minute that the only mention of the kidnapped soldiers in Resolution 1701 was not in an operative paragraph, and therefore - contrary to Livni's claim since Day One - it did not bind anyone to do anything. Forget for a minute that the 'return of the kidnapped soldiers' is coming from Hezbullah, which wasn't even a party to 1701. Let's look at what the non-binding preparatory paragraph that dealt with the kidnapped soldiers said about them:
PP3. Emphasizing the need for an end of violence, but at the same time emphasizing the need to address urgently the causes that have given rise to the current crisis, including by the unconditional release of the abducted Israeli soldiers,
Note those magic words: "UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE." The 'exchange' being made with Hezbullah is anything but an 'unconditional release.' It's a trade. It has conditions - hundreds of them - that are going to make Israel pay dearly for the dead bodies of those soldiers. Israel could have made that trade the day after Goldwasser and Regev were kidnapped and spared the lives of 150 other IDF soldiers who were killed in the fighting! If Israel had achieved something in the fighting, the government could look those fallen soldiers' families in the eyes and say that their sacrifice was worth something. But the war achieved nothing, because Olmert and Livni and Peretz and Halutz had no courage, no initiative and no fighting spirit. And they've demoralized the entire country as a result.

Anyone still wonder why I am absolutely livid at the idea that Livni the incompetent boor could simply take over Kadima and give us more of Olmert without the corruption?

Israel Radio reported at Noon that Hezbullah now has some 40,000 missiles in southern Lebanon pointed at Israel. That's three times the number that it had when the war started two years ago Saturday.

Israel Radio also reported that only one cabinet minister voted against UN Resolution 1701 when it was presented to the cabinet in August 2006. That minister said - correctly - that it wasn't worth the paper on which it was printed. Who was that minister? Hint: Not Livni and not Olmert.

It was former IDF Chief of Staff and Defense Minister - and current Transportation Minister - Shaul Mofaz.

Aaron Lerner reminds us that just last week, the UN rejected Israeli claims of a military buildup by Hezbullah. This is stunning:
Sources in UN headquarters said Tuesday that the members of the UN Security Council were aware of the real situation on the ground, but noted that the Security Council has to act in line with the reports submitted to it.

The UNIFIL forces stationed in Lebanon, under the command of Italy's Major-General Claudio Graziano, have yet to report any Hizbullah efforts to arm itself, thus preventing the UN Security Council from taking any action.

Moreover, several Security Council members are also part of the UNIFIL force currently deployed in Lebanon – and therefore are unable to rate their performance on the ground.

A UN source told Ynet in response to the report that several incidents which have taken place in recent weeks prove that southern Lebanon is not free of arms. The source said everyone is aware of this reality, yet the UN cannot admit that Israel's claims are true, as this would show the UN has failed.
And the Olmert-Barak-Livni-Yishai government wants a UNIFIL-like force for Gaza?
