Winds of War: Muslims - Believe What I Say, Not What I Do

Muslims better get their stories straight. They beat the drum over and over and over that there is no compulsion in Islam. Yet we have seen individual examples that this is not the case.

But now, Egypt makes it official. There is compulsion in Islam.

Another Death Threat (UK)

This time, against the UK Bishop of Rochester, who spoke out about Muslim no-go areas in the UK.

Not only are certain Muslims incensed. The Church of England doesn't approve of the bishop's stance, either.

From this source on February 2, 2008:
The Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, is under police protection after he and his family received death threats over his claim that parts of Britain had become “no-go areas” for non-Muslims.

The Bishop is also facing anger from the most senior members of the Church of England hierarchy for his comments on Islam.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has made Islam a priority of his archiepiscopate and set up a Muslim-Christian forum to promote relations between the faiths in 2006. One senior cleric told The Times yesterday: “The Bishop of Rochester is in effect threatening to undo everything we have done.”

Dr Nazir-Ali was in India when staff at his home in Rochester took a number of phone calls threatening his family and warning him that he would not “live long” if he continued to criticise Islam. He has been given an emergency number at Kent Police, along with other undisclosed protection measures, and said that the threats were being taken “seriously”.

Speaking to The Times, Dr Nazir-Ali, who is on the conservative evangelical wing of the Church and is Britain’s only Asian bishop, said: “The irony is that I had similar threats when I was a bishop in Pakistan, but I never thought I would have them here. My point in saying what I did was that Britain had lost its Christian vision, which would have provided the resources to offer hospitality to others.”

He said that this absence of a Christian vision had led to multiculturalism. “Everyone agrees that multiculturalism has had disastrous consequences, and that segregation and extremism have arisen from this.”

Dr Nazir-Ali told The Times: “I have had 1,000 letters, and 95 per cent have been supportive. There is no point in being in denial. We have to face the consequences.”

The Bishop went further last night with an additional statement posted on his website....

...“This is too widespread a phenomenon to be ignored and deserves proper discussion and debate,” the Bishop said.

“I repeat what I said in an earlier comment, that I deeply regret any hurt and do not wish to cause offence to anyone, let alone my Muslim friends, but unless we diagnose the malaise from which we all suffer we shall not be able to discover the remedy.”...
Is there a 12-step program available to address the "malaise" (aka dhimmitude)? The West, with all of its ostriching and denial, seems to be in need of such a program.

Phares Endorses Romney, Stresses Preparedness

Walid Phares has endorsed Mitt Romney for president in a powerful statement released today on his blog and in Human Events. Phares has been quite proactive in this campaign, sending emails and copies of his books to the candidates of both parties. This is not an act of hubris but an acceptance of responsibility by an expert who knows his subject thoroughly. Phares' work has always been distinctive for combining devastatingly incisive analysis of Islamist aims and Western vulnerabilities with a firm, encouraging optimism that the malignant dream of the caliphate can yet be defeated by Western Civilization, but this article sets out the implications of the choices between the candidates with a starkness and urgency I have never read before even in his work. Phares has predicted developments in the years prior to and following 9/11 with literally stunning accuracy and his warnings about what the U.S. president will face in his/her next two terms and exactly what are the stakes:
The stakes are much higher than the sweet but irrelevant American usual
personality debate. I want to know if the candidates are strong willed, smart,
educated about the world, informed about the threat, can define it, can identify
it, can fight it, are not duped by their bureaucracy, cannot be influenced by
foreign regimes, have the right advisors, can run an economy while commanding a
war and still see the threats as they handle daily crisis and take drastic
measures as the hard times are approaching. I want to know if the candidates are
very specific when they inform their public about the menace. Yes, it is indeed
a vital function of national security that we need to insure for the next few
years, so that all other issues can be addressed thoroughly. In short I don’t
want to see the fall of Constantinople being repeated on these shores in the
next decade or two. Humanity will not recover from such a disaster.

I have been leaning towards Romney since Giuliani dropped out of the race. Any differences I have with him on "social issues" are irrelevant at this time. There is only one issue and I agree with Phares that Romney exhibits the most thorough undersanding of and resolution towards dealing with it. As Phares puts it, McCain senses the nature of the enemy but has not yet identified it. If he is the nominee we can only hope that he will successfully "catch up" in time to take the right actions. Romney sees the enemy clearly and does not flinch. That is what I want in my president in the coming dangerous years.

MENSA article of the week : Iran sees U.S. NIE as green light...DUH

JERUSALEM - GERTZ— A report from Israel's intelligence community has concluded that the U.S. National Intelligence Estimate on Iran released in December 2007 ended any prospect of an international coalition against Teheran.

"So, ironically, the NIE opens the way for Iran to achieve its military nuclear ambitions without any interference," the report stated.

The community was said to have assessed that China and Russia would succeed in opposing any resolution in the United Nations Security Council concerning Teheran's refusal to comply with the demand to end uranium enrichment.

As much as I admire John Bolton, his reason for not leaving the UN and asking them to leave was that it could be an effective way for american foreign policy objectives to be secured. Since this, and other actions, decisions and motivations are THE CASE for the UN and not the exception, I believe the opposite. So long as we remain a part of this, we give our acquiescence to idea that decisions which arise from the body, and censures, and majority 'opinions' from it are the will of the world, and are 'right'. We simply have no place there, nor do several other countries. I can't imagine what positive achievement for the USA and IT'S PEOPLE can possibly emerge from the UN any more.

"The NIE has clearly weakened international support for tougher sanctions against Iran and has weakened Turkey and the moderate Sunni countries in the region that were seeking to build a coalition against Iran," former Israeli military intelligence chief, [Res.] Maj. Gen. Aharon Zeevi Farkash, said.

This is the result of this administration's failure to master those who consider themselves the proper arbiter of national policy, they who think of themselves as the 'permanent government'. We need an administration who can ensure that these people recognize they are there to carry out the will of the people as expressed by the election of the executive, or RESIGN, or be shown the door. There are plenty of think tanks. It's time for the executive to reform the government employment acts in concert with congress to ensure the will of the people can be carried out.

In a report, Farkash, who remains close to Israel's intelligence community, asserted that Iran could be capable of producing enough highly-enriched uranium for an atomic bomb by late 2009.

I believe 100% that THIS is the most accurate estimate. 1944 Oak ridge begins gaseous diffusion for U235 concentration, nuclear weapon dropped (UNTESTED, the July test at Alamogordo was a plutonium device), August 1945.

The former intelligence chief, citing Israeli assessments, dismissed NIE's distinction between Iranian military and civilian nuclear programs.

"The enrichment of uranium, critical to both civilian and military uses, is continuing," Farkash said. "Once they have enough enriched uranium, they will be 3-6 months away from building a nuclear bomb if they decide to do so."

The Israeli intelligence community has determined that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003. This included the suspension of uranium enrichment and plutonium production, development of a nuclear warhead and extending the range of the Shihab-3 ballistic missile.

But Iran resumed its nuclear weapons program around 2004, the Israeli intelligence assessment reported. Since then, Teheran assembled at least 3,000 centrifuges and accelerated missile development efforts.

"If parts of the nuclear weapons program were restarted, there is every reason to believe that all parts were reactivated as well," the report, authored by Farkash, said. "Indeed, Iran's development of surface-to-surface missiles had never ceased, even when uranium enrichment had been temporarily halted."

Farkash, who left his post as military intelligence chief in 2006, said Iran has sought to procure all of the components required for a nuclear weapons program. In 2004, he said, Iran attempted to procure fast high voltage switches suitable for a nuclear weapons system, while the Iranian Defense Ministry supervised the mining of uranium in the southeast.

"The NIE has clearly weakened international support for tougher sanctions against Iran, and it closes off any military option for the Bush administration," the report said. "The NIE has sent a signal to Teheran that the danger of external sanctions has ended."

According to Dr. Hassan Abbasi, adviser to the Iranian govt, the global balance of power is in a state of flux and every nation should fight for a place in a future equilibrium. The Western powers, especially the United States, still wield immense military and economic power that "looks formidable on paper." But they are unable to use that power because their populations have become "risk-averse." "The Western man today has no stomach for a fight," Abbasi says. "This phenomenon is not new: All empires produce this type of man, the self-centered, materialist, and risk-averse man." Abbasi believes that the US intervention in Iraq, which involved "slightly higher risks" than the invasion of Afghanistan, was the very last of its kind. And even then, the US went into Iraq because of President George W Bush's "readiness to do what no other American leader would dare contemplate.

Now imagine this with a democrat in the White House

NATO's Afghan Failure

We feel Stephen Harper's pique. Maybe France, Germany and other so-called NATO allies will as well and heed the Canadian Prime Minister's call to share the war-fighting burden in Afghanistan.

Miracles happen. For the time being, however, the Continentals are in no apparent hurry to break a five-decade habit of enjoying a free ride on security. None seriously answered NATO's call for up to 7,000 more troops for Afghanistan. So the U.S. last month announced a "temporary" deployment of another 3,200 Marines, the second large reinforcement in a year. That brings the U.S. deployment to nearly 30,000, with about half those troops as part of the NATO force of 42,000.

[Stephen Harper]

The plight of the Canadians ought to shame other allies. Mr. Harper warned that his country wouldn't extend its 2,500-strong mission in Afghanistan's unstable southern provinces unless Europe ponies up troops and equipment. His minority party will soon put the deployment to Parliament, where the opposition wants a withdrawal. "If NATO can't come through with that help, then I think, frankly, NATO's own reputation and future will be in jeopardy," he said this week. Canadians aren't known for hyperbole.

In the past year and a half, the alliance has successfully fought a resurgent Taliban. But the struggle isn't over, and the success of NATO's first ever deployment outside Europe is far from assured. The U.S., Britain, the Netherlands and Canada -- which alone has lost 78 soldiers -- are carrying a disproportionate load.

Though the mission flies a NATO flag, Germany, Italy and Spain put caveats on their troops, preventing them from leaving more peaceful areas to reinforce the Canadians and others in the south and east. With a limited presence on the ground, France would appear best placed of the big European countries to contribute 1,000 new troops or more.

The Continentals fill up lots of air space at policy conferences talking about Europe's readiness to play a prominent role in global affairs. The Canadians are now usefully calling their bluff.

It's clear that despite massive advantages of weapons, men, freedom, independent women, and millenia of development, when it comes to these murderers, they have the advantage.

Berkeley and the US Marines Corps. The sorrow and the pity

“By taking a stand against recruitment we are protecting the health and safety of our youth,” said PhoeBe sorgen, a member of the Berkeley Peace and Justice Commission. “I see the protest as taking a proud and courageous stand.”
The other resolution more directly criticizes the presence of the center in Berkeley. The city manager was directed to send a letter to the U.S. Marine Corps saying they are “uninvited and unwelcome intruders” in the city.

For extraordinary heroism and conspicuous gallantry in action against enemy Japanese forces, above and beyond the call of duty, while serving with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division in the Lunga Area. Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, on 24 and 25 October 1942. While the enemy was hammering at the Marines' defensive positions, Sgt. Basilone, in charge of 2 sections of heavy machineguns, fought valiantly to check the savage and determined assault. In a fierce frontal attack with the Japanese blasting his guns with grenades and mortar fire, one of Sgt. Basilone's sections, with its guncrews, was put out of action, leaving only 2 men able to carry on. Moving an extra gun into position, he placed it in action, then, under continual fire, repaired another and personally manned it, gallantly holding his line until replacements arrived. A little later, with ammunition critically low and the supply lines cut off, Sgt. Basilone, at great risk of his life and in the face of continued enemy attack, battled his way through hostile lines with urgently needed shells for his gunners, thereby contributing in large measure to the virtual annihilation of a Japanese regiment. His great personal valor and courageous initiative were in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service.

Sgt Basilone was killed in action on Iwo Jima
He told his brother after joining the Marines that, "Without his Corps, his life meant nothing."
I question the patriotism of the Berkeley City council and I question the patriotism, and belief system of Code Pink.

“The Marines ought to have better sense than to come here,” [Councilwoman Betty] Olds said.

Code Pink: “If it weren’t for people like the people in Berkeley, standing up for what they believe, we’d be living under Hitler”

Rank and organization: Corporal, U .S. Marine Corps Reserve, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 6th Marine Division. Place and date: Mount Yaetake on Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, 16 April 1945. Entered service at: Kentucky. Born: 23 December 1923, Glasgow, Ky. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty as a squad leader serving with the 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 6th Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces, during the final assault against Mount Yaetake on Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, 16 April 1945. Rallying his men forward with indomitable determination, Cpl. Bush boldly defied the slashing fury of concentrated Japanese artillery fire pouring down from the gun-studded mountain fortress to lead his squad up the face of the rocky precipice, sweep over the ridge, and drive the defending troops from their deeply entrenched position. With his unit, the first to break through to the inner defense of Mount Yaetake, he fought relentlessly in the forefront of the action until seriously wounded and evacuated with others under protecting rocks. Although prostrate under medical treatment when a Japanese hand grenade landed in the midst of the group, Cpl. Bush, alert and courageous in extremity as in battle, unhesitatingly pulled the deadly missile to himself and absorbed the shattering violence of the exploding charge in his body, thereby saving his fellow marines from severe injury or death despite the certain peril to his own life. By his valiant leadership and aggressive tactics in the face of savage opposition, Cpl. Bush contributed materially to the success of the sustained drive toward the conquest of this fiercely defended outpost of the Japanese Empire. His constant concern for the welfare of his men, his resolute spirit of self-sacrifice, and his unwavering devotion to duty throughout the bitter conflict enhance and sustain the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service.
Maybe they are right, and men and women such as these just don't belong in a place like Berkeley any more

How Low Can They Go?

Baghdad’s fragile peace was shattered yesterday when explosives strapped to two women with Down’s syndrome were detonated by remote control in crowded pet markets, killing at least 91 people in the worst attacks that the capital had experienced for almost a year.

Iraqi and American officials blamed al-Qaeda, and accused the terrorist organisation of plumbing new depths of depravity. Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State, said that al-Qaeda’s use of mentally-handicapped women as bombers showed that it had “no political programme here that is acceptable to a civilised society and that this is the most brutal and the most bankrupt of movements”.

And here's a very good reason, if we need one for banning the veil and "black pepperpot" (Pat Condell) burkha in our own countries.

Though the use of women in warfare violates religious taboos, they have obvious appeal for terrorists because they can conceal explosives beneath their black robes — abayas — and usually escape the rigorous body searches to which men are subjected.

Read it all, there's a graphic description of carnage though>>

They detonated the mentally challenged women by remote control. These people must surely be the lowest form of human life - if they can be human. It would have been better if instead of pressing the detonation button remotely the explosives were attached to them but perhaps the cowards have been using mentally challenged suicide bombers all along, who would know? Anyone that can do this sort of thing surely cannot have the brain and spirit of a human being.

Islam IS a Religion of Peace, Ha Ha!

The Bishop is also facing anger from the most senior members of the Church of England hierarchy for his comments on Islam.

What a bunch of useless dhimmies they all are!

He has been given an emergency number at Kent Police, along with other undisclosed protection measures, and said that the threats were being taken “seriously”.

That should have the rest of the dhimmies trembling in their boots, and effectively keep them in line. A well tested Muslim way of keeping "free speech" in the dark.

He said that Christian workers in some areas were unable to practise the full range of ministry “either because it is felt to be inadvisable or because of intimidation by extremist views and actions”. In addition, converts to the Christian faith found it “difficult or impossible” to live in certain areas. “This is too widespread a phenomenon to be ignored and deserves proper discussion and debate,” the Bishop said. In Case of a Barack Obama Presidency:

Europe and Canada have marshaled armies of scientists to prepare for the worst--in case US voters elect Barack Obama as US President next November. In Norway, a "doomsday vault" is being stocked with seeds, in case a President Obama brings about unprecedented global ecological devastation. British, Swedish, and Chinese scientists are studying the basic mechanisms of control of human ovulation, in what many observers see as an effort to develop something analogous to the plant seed "doomsday vault"--a vault for human embryos.

"We would not be so concerned", stated Blythe Manfredson, EU Disaster Planner, "if not for some disturbing revelations coming from the United States. We have learned that Senator Obama's campaign is using deep brain stimulation to influence voting preferences in non-African American voters.""That's patently absurd!" declared an Obama campaign aide heatedly. "We only use DBS on resistant voters--racists! Many Americans willingly--even enthusiastically--vote for Barack, so they don't need the DBS."

EU sources state that they are not reassured by the explanations coming from the Obama campaign. "I would feel much better if the Obama campaign would just stick to the traditional deceptions, false promises, and misleading attacks against opponents. Using DBS is getting too close to unfair manipulation," declared one source, who asked not to be named.

Manfredson denies that she and other government planners are over-reacting to the possibility of an Obama presidency. "Look, we are destroying the European economy on the basis of unproven and unfalsifiable climate models. How could we face the people of Europe if we failed to react to the Obama threat in turn?"

Other EU officials express concerns that Obama is seen by large segments of the US public as almost a "magic negro", possessing mythical powers to bring about a new millenium for everyone except bad people. "This type of expectation inevitably leads to catastrophe!" declared another anonymous EU source. "Unrealistic belief in a particular "change-bringer" too easily leads to suspension of critical thinking. The danger is particularly dire from charismatic but unproven politicians."

It is not likely that such cautions will be considered by the American public. In fact, most of the American news media itself appears to be in thrall to the first-term senator from Illinois.

"We have to be concerned," insisted Manfredson. "Obama has single-handedly destroyed an American political dynasty that was expected to last decades. He appears unstoppable. Clearly the American public's expectations of what an Obama presidency would mean, in terms of revolutionary justice and change, is completely unrealistic. When the reality sets in, we expect widespread social upheaval--perhaps even civil war in the US."

In addition, an unnamed Vatican source expressed concern about Obama's apparent intention to spend most of the first year of his presidency strengthening US ties with Islamic religious leaders. "That is all that Obama talks about--Islam this, Islam that! It's bad enough that there will soon be more mosques in Europe than churches and cathedrals, more boys named Muhammed than John."

"The US is the leader of the world, the guarantor of world markets and trade routes," explained Chen Xin, Chinese liason to the EU Disaster Planning Commission. "Although we Chinese wish to replace the US as most powerful nation, it is no one's best interest for the handover of world power to occur by way of calamitous violent change. Despite his powerful charisma, Obama has simply not displayed an ability to lead, so the danger of violent disillusionment and backlash is extreme. We do not expect civil war in America--unless Obama attempts to radically alter the American military."

Meanwhile, the stocking of the doomsday seed vault has been placed at highest priority, as have preparations for stocking a doomsday vault with frozen human embryos. Judging by the actions of international disaster planners, the future of mankind has never looked so bleak.

Storm Track Disinformation: Speaking of Muslim Tolerance

Syed Soharwardy is organizing Calgary's first ever Muslim women's convention. Here’s the 411 on the conference from Sun Media.

"Muslim women are equal participants in our affairs, are equally respected in the Muslim community," said Soharwardy.

For the past three years, a similar convention has been held in Mississauga, Ont., said Soharwardy.

He said another goal of the meet is to encourage women to bring their domestic problems to the fore, while encouraging participants to spread a message of enlightenment to their home countries.

"They'll go back to the countries of their birth and challenge those people who are still abusing women," said Soharwardy.

It's hoped the gathering will also help women overcome the cultural shock felt by some immigrants unaccustomed to playing an active role in the community, he said.

Wonderful words right? One problem. Syed Soharwardy is facing human rights complaints for discrimination against women.

Gertz - Al Qaeda:'Large Operation in America, God Willing'

An Al Qaida Internet site reported last week that terrorists are planning a major attack in the United States in the coming weeks.

The Jan. 12 posting titled “A Large Operation in America, God Willing,” stated that the upcoming attack was imminent. Other participants chastised the writer for tipping Al Qaida’s hand.

Counterterrorism analysts said the threat could be real or Al Qaida deception designed to test U.S. security by announcing an planned attack and observing the level of increased security.

An image of the body of Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi displayed at a news conference in Baghdad. Ali Haider/European Pressphoto Agency
For those seeking more information, the author of the posting said they should be patient but assured forum members that “the lions have taken off and you will see [the proof] in the coming weeks.”

“We ask God to guide the aim of the jihadists and to grant them success in the revenge campaign for Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi,” the message said.

Another discussant expressed doubts about the claim, noting that “to my knowledge, Al Qaida does not announce about any operation before it takes place. We are hopeful that the news from our brother (the poster) is true and that God will guide the aim of the mujahidin, grant them victory, and heal the (wounded) hearts of the believers."

One of the moderators of the forum cautioned other members about discussing the potentially sensitive information, noting “there is no gain in escalating this topic."

“It is not wise or deceitful to announce something before it takes place, because I fear that you will commit two dangerous mistakes: 1. Foiling the operation before it takes place as a result of the enemy's knowledge after your announcement. 2. I am concerned that you might be deceitful with this hasty announcement. God is all-wise and all-knowing. Please accept this advice from a brother who loves you for the sake of God."

In responding to doubts from forum members, the author stated that “the hint was given only to ensure that the matter does not get attributed to others when it occurs.”

“Should they succeed, you will hear news that will make your hearts jump with delight,” the message said, requesting that supporters publish “evidence” from Muslim scholars showing that “it is permissible to use weapons of mass destruction against the infidels, and to use human shields."

The posting included a religious edict from May 2003 written by Saudi cleric Nasir Hamad al-Fahd on the validity of using weapons of mass destruction against the infidels as well as human shields.

The duping of Fox News or the END of it's independence

The facts are these.

talal_380.jpgSaudi Prince Al-Waleed (the gentleman Rudy Giuliani told to take his check for NYC after 9/11 and shove it) is said be the world’s fifth richest man and is now NewsCorp’s fourth largest voting shareholder (behind the Murdoch family, Liberty Media and fund giant Fidelity Management & Research Co).

"To me, money is...a gift from God, to whom I am forever thankful. To attest to that, I refer to the Quranic Verse: "If you give thanks, I will give you more." Quranic Verse, Ibrahim 7."

karta_arafat.jpgNeturei Karta, an orthodox jewish sect which believes as a matter of faith that jews are mandated not to have a nation of any kind until the messiah comes, a sect which began in 1935, a sect which welcomes the efforts of Ahmadinejad, and is in the pay of same, has but 5,000 adherents, MAX. This represents ~ four one hundredths of one percent of the Jewish people. While many in Neturei Karta chose to simply ignore the State of Israel, a fringe element took proactive steps to condemn it and bring about its eventual dismantling until the coming of the Messiah. Chief among these is Rabbi Moshe Hirsch, Neturei Karta's self-proclaimed "Foreign Minister," who served in Yasser Arafat's cabinet as Minister for Jewish Affairs.

ATLAS SHRUGS points out that Fox ran this story yesterday:
Orthodox Jews to Join Other Arab Organizations in Protest Against the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) Annual Dinner, and Against the Recent Atrocities in GAZA

The following is a statement by Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, a spokesman for Neturei Karta International:

AIPAC: (An Institution Perpetuating Atrocities and Catastrophe)

Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, a spokesman for Neturei Karta International, Jews United Against Zionism, stated at a recent meeting: "Philanthropists, government representatives and well meaning people, should be apprised of the reality, that supporting Zionism and the State of 'Israel' does not help Jews or Judaism, but on the contrary only helps to perpetuate the tragic impasse and constant bloodshed in the Middle East, both of Arab and Jew......He further stated: "The Jewish principles of exile may be a shock and a complete surprise to the well-meaning friends and supporters of the Jewish people, but facts cannot be disputed. The Torah explicitly forbids us, the Jewish nation, from having our own State in this Heavenly decreed exile. We must patiently await the day when the Almighty Himself, without any human intervention, will bring the hearts of all mankind together to serve Him in peace and harmony.

Israel is tiny refuge to a tiny and historically oppressed, and widely discriminated against, expelled and murdered people. That is a fact.

Has Fox run this story as a sop, or at the suggestion of a stockholder, whose impulses are a religiously inspired will ti see it destroyed, and return the Jewish people to that former status?

Jury in Miami Terror trial jury decides a blown up Sears Tower was the only way to convict

Yet Another Troubling Terror Trial
By Joel Mowbray
Thursday, January 31, 2008

Given that hard evidence is often scarce in trials of unsuccessful terrorists, federal prosecutors in Miami no doubt felt fortunate to be trying defendants who participated in a ceremony pledging allegiance to al Qaeda—which was captured on video.

The defendants took surveillance photos of government buildings. The leader of the cell admitted requesting from an apparent terrorist financier boots, uniforms, vehicles, machine guns and $50,000. Just in case the reason for the request was unclear, Narseal Batiste stated—on tape—that it was for creating an “Islamic army” to wage a “full ground war” and commit an attack that would be “as good or greater than 9/11,” such as blowing up the Sears Tower.

It wasn’t enough. They weren’t convicted.

In a stunning defeat for common sense, a Miami jury last month couldn’t convict seven defendants on a single of the 28 total charges. One man, who had moved to Atlanta months before the arrests and had severed ties with the group, was acquitted entirely. The jury deadlocked on all charges brought against the other members of the “Liberty City Seven.”

Though prosecutors are re-trying the remaining defendants soon, odds of success the second time around seem dicey. Put simply, it appears that several jurors were determined to acquit, no matter the evidence.

That's a condemning idea.
A dismissed juror—who was shown the door near the midpoint for reading a police pamphlet outside the courthouse on terrorism during the trial—explained that he was favoring acquittal for that very reason. “They were playing ninja,” said Eldon Brown. “These guys were living in the movies. They were completely out of touch with reality.”
What does that have to do with the crime?

Then there’s the inherent problem of prosecuting unsuccessful terrorists: By definition, they never actually have succeeded.

Juror Michael Silva clearly didn’t feel threatened by the defendants, explaining after the trial, “It was not like [prosecutors] had evidence of somebody planting explosives.” Silva did not state that he pushed for a universal acquittal, but Agron said that a different juror kept insisting during deliberations that explosives being planted or something similar would have been necessary.

Never mind that one of the charges brought against each of the defendants—conspiracy to support al Qaeda—required no imminent attacks or anything beyond an agreement to support bin Laden’s network. Swearing an oath to al Qaeda clearly satisfies that requirement, but the defendants also took reconnaissance photos of government buildings—more than enough under the law to convict on the conspiracy charge.

What level of proof would thus be needed to break up a plot ahead of time, arrest the conspirators, and convict them? Is it necessary to wait until the plan is carried out? Does that mean the 19 mass murderers of 9/11 could have only been convicted by americans AFTER they took control of the aircraft?

How realistic would it have seemed if we HAD acted on intelligence then, and the 9/10 prosecution was making the case that america was going to be attacked by religious lunatics with boxcutters, and that it was terrorism?

How much more necessary does this make the slippery slope of taking terrorists outside the field of battle as enemy forces and just stick them away in some hole?

It appears some jurors thru their irresponsible behavior are in fact inspiring the kind of action we have seen in places like Chile in the past.

So, terrorists out there, make sure you include some really stupid people in your plots, that way you can just claim you were playing ninja, and other morons will set you loose.

Who on the prosecution vetted that jury?

Move the trial to lower Manhattan. Maybe those folks will be able to envision the results from the plans.

Britain : Private Muslim schools have been given the power to police themselves

Melanie Phillips:
Even I, who have written constantly about the British government’s lethally flawed strategy of appeasing Islamism, am left breathless by today’s story in the Telegraph:

Private Muslim schools have been given the power to police themselves, despite widespread fears over religious segregation, The Daily Telegraph can disclose. In a controversial move, they have won the right to appoint their own Ofsted-style inspectors. A new independent watchdog has been set up to be more ‘sensitive’ toward Islamic education. The decision comes despite concerns some private Muslim schools are already failing to prepare pupils for life in modern Britain.

Barry Sheerman, the chairman of the Commons schools select committee, told MPs last month local councils were finding it ‘difficult to know what is going on in some faith schools - particularly Muslim schools’. But religious leaders defended the move, saying the curriculum and religious traditions in faith schools demand specialist knowledge. Under present legislation, most state and private schools are inspected by Ofsted, the Government's standards watchdog. The Association of Muslim Schools and the Christian Schools' Trust applied to the Government to set up a separate inspectorate for a small number of private faith schools. The Daily Telegraph has learned the Department for Children, Schools and Families [DCSF] approved plans for the Bridge Schools' Inspectorate last week, giving it the power to inspect about 60 private Muslim schools and 50 Christian schools.
madinan way.jpgIt really is hard to believe this. There is a crying need for much more rigorous state inspection of Muslim schools. Ofsted, which is supposedly going to police this new Muslim/Christian inspectorate, is hopeless; having progressively emasculated its inspection processes generally, it has already failed to identify Islamic extremism in the Muslim schools it inspects (see the evidence revealed in the recent Policy Exchange report of the bigoted teaching materials used at the King Fahad academy in west London, to which Ofsted gave a clean bill of health). The only way to address Islamic extremism is to take the toughest line possible against the dissemination of hatred and incitement. That means that the state must make it its business to find out where children are being thus indoctrinated and stop it. And that means the state must inspect all Muslim teaching institutions and take action against them where it finds that this is happening. To withdraw instead, as the government is now doing, and allow these schools to police themselves is to give a green light to the extremist production line.

Furthermore, it also bows to the Islamist insistence that British Muslims must develop parallel institutions to the British state, a fundamental element of their strategy to Islamise this country. For although this is presented as a Muslim/Christian initiative, no-one can be in any doubt that the main thrust comes from British Muslims. The website of the Christian body involved, the Christian Schools’ Trust, is being rejigged so information on it is sparse; but it appears to be a marginal fundamentalist body. Certainly there is no indication that Christian schools in general, or Jewish schools for that matter, are pressing for their own inspectorate.

Many people still think that the idea that Britain could ever be ‘Islamised’ is just too preposterous and silly to be taken seriously. It is not. It is well advanced. What it relies upon is three things: the refusal of the British public to take it seriously; the Islamists' ability to manipulate moral and intellectual
liberal confusion and the resulting paralysis over ‘Islamophobia’, ‘discrimination’ and ‘minority rights’; and the craven desire by the British government to buy off the implicit and explicit threats of Muslim social unrest and yet more terrorist attacks by giving in to the Islamists’ demands. Truly moderate British Muslims who want to live under the umbrella of British laws and institutions are thus grievously undermined, and the entire country is put at ever greater peril from the pincer movement of cultural and terrorist attack.

Members of Parliament with an elementary sense of national self-preservation simply must not let this pass.

Being Muslim Isn't Voluntary

According to this article, being Muslim is much the same as being born to a particular race, and Muslims are being let down by the race laws in the UK:
Dr Nasar Meer, research associate in the Department of Sociology at Bristol, found that Muslims are let down by race legislation because being a Muslim is recognised as a lifestyle choice or a "voluntary identity".

Dr Meer says other religious identities - such as Sikh and Jew - have had race law applied in their favour in a way not extended to Muslim communities.

He said many Muslims view their faith as an "involuntary identity" as they are born into the religion.
Considering what happens to Muslims who decide they no longer want to be followers of Islam, I suppose that being Muslim could be viewed as involuntary. You can get your head lopped off for becoming an apostate. So, if you're a Muslim and you want to stay alive, you'd better hold onto that Muslim identity.

Continuing now with the article:
[Dr. Meer said] said: "We explored what legislation exists to help protect people with what we call an involuntary identity. People with an involuntary identity shouldn't be disadvantaged by others' views.

"The legislation should offer them support and make sure they're not discriminated against."
And here's the kicker:
"Muslims have been totally missed out of the protection offered by race-relations legislation because it treats Islam as a religion and not a race."

Dr Meer said he has come across various examples of when hatred towards Muslims was dismissed but hatred towards other religions had not been tolerated.
Get ready for it: "involuntary identity" will refer to both ethnic origin and adherence to Islam. At least, so appears a trend in the UK, a trend endorsed by a university study.

Is that position official under the rule of law? Not quite, but it may well become the reality in time--unless the West quits allowing Muslims to determine certain definitions.

Before this decade ends, Islam may well be defined as a race, at least in the UK. If that happens, criticizing Islam will become designated as racism. Then what?

Top al-Qaeda leader reported dead in Afghanistan

BBC NEWS | South Asia | Top al-Qaeda leader reported dead:

"A senior al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan, Abu Laith al-Libi, has been killed, Western counter-terrorism officials have told the BBC.

News of his death emerged on a website used by Islamist groups. Ekhlaas.org said he had 'fallen as a martyr'.

There is speculation that he was killed by a US missile strike in the North Waziristan area of Pakistan this week.

A dozen militants were reported killed in the attack. US intelligence agencies said they were checking the reports.

A Pakistani daily paper, the News, reported that the suspected US strike was aimed at Libi and another senior figure, Obaidah al-Masri.

Al-Qaeda spokesman

Libi has appeared in a number of al-Qaeda videos. In November he appeared alongside al-Qaeda second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahri.

He has acted as a spokesman for the group, announcing in 2002 that Osama Bin Laden and Taleban leader Mullah Omar had survived the US invasion of Afghanistan.

Libi was under US intelligence surveillance and most details about him are classified, says the BBC's security correspondent Frank Gardner."

McCain Derangement Anger..RUKIDDINGME?

What is it that those who TODAY consider themselves to be conservative want?

Are they conservative a la Goldwater or is it something else which defines conservatism today?

Do they want Roe V Wade overturned?
Would that be because it is bad constitutional law, or because abortion is murder. Or does it matter? What about a woman's control over her own body? (Hey just asking) Does it matter? Goldwater believed it WAS a woman's right to control her body.
Do they want a balanced budget? In a war without a defined endpoint?

If so, what about taxes? How do you pay for the security of the people? (Hey, just asking)

Is a secure nearly impenetrable border (from the outside, to illegals) a conservative issue? I think so. Then what about immigration? 1900 US Census, 76 million. 1900-1924 18 million southern europeans, slavs and jews make it here. That's 24%. Our population in 1980 was 226 million and we took in HOW MANY? Did we do okay with our immigrants from 1900-1924? Is that a conservative issue? Was our culture destroyed by this flood of one fourth of our nation JUST from southern europe?

Family VALUES, is that conservative issue? Well.... ‘To Goldwater, government did not belong either in your boardroom or your bedroom.’ That's a judeo christian (and OTHER) ethic NOT a conservative value. I don't care if my neighbor sacrifices goats and has orgies as long as his fence is high enough. Neither did Barry Goldwater.."When you say “radical right” today, I think of these moneymaking ventures by fellows like Pat Robertson and others who are trying to take the Republican Party and make a religious organization out of it. If that ever happens, kiss politics goodbye. " In response to Moral Majority founder Jerry Falwell's opposition to the nomination of Sandra Day O'Connor to the Supreme Court, of which Falwell had said, “Every good Christian should be concerned,” Goldwater retorted: “I think every good Christian ought to kick Falwell right in the ass.”. This, btw is an almost exact match for Mr. McCain's thoughts on that.

How about gay rights....well....“You don't have to be straight to be in the military; you just have to be able to shoot straight.” (Guess who?)

in 1996 Barry Goldwater told Bob Dole, whose own presidential campaign received lukewarm support from conservative Republicans: “We're the new liberals of the Republican Party. Can you imagine that?”

Upset because Mr McCain voted against Bush's tax cuts, well he wanted SPENDING CUTS to match. That's the record. Which is the more conservative viewpoint?

Likewise Harry Truman and FDR would be considered reactionary, xenophobic war criminals by many in today's democratic party.

So for those of you foaming at the mouth and with loosening bowels over John McCain, get a grip and think of what the middle east will be like 3 years after an Obama or Clinton victory because you indulged yourselves in a fit of conservative chic deranged bashing of John McCain IF HE IS NOMINATED

Among those in New Hampshire who valued a candidate who “says what he believes,” 53 percent supported McCain. The next closest candidate? Mitt Romney at 13 percent.

I wonder if Barry Goldwater would be 'conservative' enough for those who wish to sacrifice the next election on the altar of conservative purity?

Storm Track Appeasement: Muslim Inmate Suit Dismissed

Let’s not hold you breathe but it seems we’ve had a minor victory in pushing back the appeasement of Muslims.

Muslim inmates at our prisons have been stirring up trouble because their religious wishes have not been catered to. They’re suing the US government over the disappearance of copies of the Quran and a prayer rug.

But it seems at least one US government branch has grown a spine. The US Supreme Court. At least until the dhimmis get Shari’a law as the law of the land.

This Week on The Gathering Storm Radio Show

Listen to the nearly famous Gathering Storm Radio Show, that AlwaysOnWatch and I co-host. The show broadcasts live every Friday for one hour at NOON, Pacific Time.

Friday, February 1: Our guest at the bottom of the hour is blogger Kevin of The Amboy Times. We'll begin that portion of the show by discussing Kevin's extensive posting "The List of Things That Offend Muslims."
Kevin keeps the list up to date! He also invites commenters to add to the list. Introduction to "The List... ":

This list is a work in progress. I welcome suggestions. Anyone who has more items to add to the list, post them in the comments.

The intent of the list is to illustrate the futility of the multicultural approach to Islam. Sharia law demands submission not only from Muslims, but from non-Muslims as well. This makes respectful coexistence nearly impossible with Muslims in Infidel lands. The examples below serve as reminder that submitting to one complaint or another only emboldens Muslims to seek to further their ultimate goal of establishing sharia.

The West needs to come to grips with this fact and start standing up for our God-given rights of free speech, free expression and freedom of religion, lest we surrender those rights to a theocratic movement bent on removing our Constitutional freedoms that we hold dear. In this case, our tolerance will lead to intolerance.

The call-in number is (646) 915-9870.

Callers welcome!

If you are unable to listen live to the radio show, you can listen to recordings of the radio broadcasts later by CLICKING HERE.

The call-in number again is (646) 915-9870. Converse with my co-host and me, chat with our guests or if you must, just air your spleen!

Is Jim Baker back in town or did I miss something?

U.S. sells Syria dual-use tech that could be used by Iran
WASHINGTON — The Bush administration has approved the sale of advanced dual-use computers to Syria.

"It's a major piece of equipment and is being given to an ally that could use it for military purposes as well as share it with Iran," an official said.

The export, disclosed by the U.S. television network Fox, was approved despite U.S. sanctions on Damascus of military and advanced dual-use systems. Syria, deemed a terrorist sponsor, has been in the same category as Iran and North Korea.

Officials said the State Department has provided a license for the sale of advanced computers for a Syrian border surveillance program. They said the systems were being provided through a United Nations program that could significantly enhance Syria's military capabilities.

"We promise, George, if you give us the computers we will stop the infiltrating jihadis, George. Just ask Condi, we an be trusted"

In 2004, President George Bush signed legislation to severely restrict technology exports to Syria, deemed a gateway of Al Qaida for the war against the U.S. military in neighboring Iraq. But the legislation allowed the president to waive sanctions on grounds of U.S. national security.

Officials said the U.S. firm Cisco would supply computers and networking equipment to Syria under UN program. They said Syria would receive about $2.2 million in equipment under a program termed "Modernization of Syrian Customs Directorate," launched in 2005 and meant to be completed in early 2008.

Would that be the same customs that turns its back to jihadis entering Iraq?

Cisco was granted a license by the U.S. Commerce Department to sell the computers to Syria in September 2006. The UN has confirmed the sale while the Commerce Department has not responded to the report.

A federal investigation has determined that the U.S. Defense Department approved the export of spare parts of the F-14 fighter-jet to front companies for Iran. The aircraft parts as well as other U.S. military equipment were said to have been purchased by brokers for China and then relayed to Teheran.

Why are we engaged with these guys at all? Syria, Iran, NoKo. the HEART OF DARKNESS. To them profit is a tool by which they can manipulate americans. It's ridiculous. Obama could hardly be more naive. Or is the explanation worse?

OK hotshot, you've lost the consent of the people, what do you do? (No it's not Bush)

You up the SS with the SA, silly

Gertz (who else?)

Iran fears U.S. subversion, mobilizes 12.5 million minders to monitor Iranians

NICOSIA — Iran has expressed increasing concern over internal unrest.
Maybe if they could see some females as actual people tension would drop

The Islamic republic, determining a reversal of the U.S. position on Teheran's nuclear program, has been worried over rising political and ethnic unrest. Senior officials have accused the United States of helping foment protests by labor unions and students.

Well, let's see, the government is lead by a man who thinks that Armageddon is the best way to bring about the messiah. A previous leader had promised to end Israel via nuclear weapons even if that means hundreds of millions of muslims die. If you don't buy into that with questionless fervor you probably have something to hide. You can't go on a real date, and you are wondering what's under all that black cloth while they are busy washing the dishes. You hear stories about how during the Iraq war it was glorious for you to walk ahead of the armor to trigger the mines and martyr yourself, and now they keep talking about the americans and the little satan all controlled by world jewry. Why would people feel tense?

A rare photo of unrest in Iran: A 2006 incident in the streets of Tabriz was reportedly met with gunfire by Iranian authorities.
"[The threat consists of a] velvet revolution, political invasion and penetration into the ruling system," Hussein Taeb, a deputy commander of the Basij force, said.

You mean people's wants and needs might penetrate into govt?

Basij has been enhanced to quell unrest, particularly among students. The force, part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has recruited 12.5 million people to monitor the behavior and opinions of Iranians.

Officials said Basij intends to expand to 20 million by 2017, with many of them receiving paramilitary training. They said Basij, located in mosques and universities, would also participate in border security as well as anti-crime operations.

You know, crimes like thinking and speaking aloud simultaneously.

"The main mission of the guards is currently fighting domestic threats and in case there is a foreign threat we will join the [conventional] army," IRGC commander Mohammed Jafari said.

Fighting domestic threats ...oh yeah....

Basij was said to have played a leading role in the arrest of hundreds of students, teachers and laborers in 2007. The Basij was also used to break up anti-regime demonstrations or strikes against companies owned by IRGC members.

"The biggest threats against the future of the regime from now on have a soft nature in which domestic players have a key role," the Kayhan daily, regarded as close to IRGC, said.

Iran has also been facing ethnic unrest in several provinces. On Jan. 4, ethnic Turks attacked Iranian government offices and rioted throughout Golestan after a Turkmen fisherman was shot dead by IRGC in the Caspian Sea.

Diplomats assess that Basij would be used to stop dissidents from participating in parliamentary elections scheduled for March 2008. They said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad plans to crack down on critics, particularly so-called reformists led by former President Mohammed Khatami.

Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei was said to have lost control to Ahmadinejad and IRGC. Diplomats said orders relayed by Khamenei have been ignored by the president and his followers.

On Jan. 4, Khamenei reiterated Iran's resolve to continue its nuclear program. He again raised the prospect of a foreign attack on Iran.

"This peace-loving nation would humiliate any aggressor, regardless of its size and level so that it won't even think of aggression again," Khamenei said. "No one can trace the slightest sign of warmonger tendencies in this nation and its elected management."

Did Obama "CHANGE" His Tune About NOI?

Debbie Schlussel has an important post on her site disclosing that Barack Hussein Obama's includes Nation of Islam members amongst his staffers and supporters even as he denounces Trinity United Church of Christ pastor Jeremiah Wright's adulation of Louis Farrakhan. According to Schlussel's sources, "NOI members, including consultant Shakir Muhammad, held important roles in the Obama state senate campaign". Read it all but don't hold your breath waiting to read it in the MSM.

It is my still-but-who-knows-for-how-much-longer Constitutionally-protected personal opinion that Obama is a black racist/supremacist/Islamist ringer and a lyin' weasel into the bargain and if he isn't challenged effectively and soon he will continue to pull the wool over the eyes of this nation of sheep until we all wind up skewered on the Caliphate's shish kebab. Other than that, I have no strong opinions about the man.

Muhammed: A Cult Leader (Link corrected)

From Cassandra (USA):
From Understanding Muhammad: A Psychobiography of Allâh's Prophet

We are often taken aback by the level of fanaticism of Muslims. Millions of them riot, burn churches, and kill completely innocent people because a newspaper has published a few cartoons of Muhammad or because the Pope has quoted a medieval emperor saying that violence is not compatible with the nature of God.

People generally are biased towards a belief system that has this many followers. They believe that the sheer size of Islam qualifies it as a religion. But is Islam really a religion?

Some say all religions start as a cult until, with the passage of time, they gradually gain acceptance and the status of religion. However, there are certain characteristics that distinguish cults from religions. Dr. Janja Lalich and Dr. Michael D. Langone have created a list that describes cults fairly well.[1] The more a group or a doctrine has these characteristics the more it follows that it should be defined and labeled as a cult. The following is that list, which I have compared Islam to point by point....

Oh goody !

A new data encryption program designed for the use of Islamist militants has gathered wide attention in the information technology community. The software, called Mujahideen Secrets 2, is designed to protect message content as well as the identities and locations of terrorists while online. It is available for free from the password-protected al-ekhlaas website. The program is a significant improvement on the 2007 Mujahideen Secrets software, using 1024-bit encryption instead of the earlier 256-bit version.

According to the website: "This special edition of the software was developed and issued by Ekhlaas in order to support the mujahideen in general and the Islamic State in Iraq in particular" (Reuters, January 18; Internet Business Law Services, January 28).

Al-ekhlaas’ domain, Ek-ls.org, is hosted on the web by Tampa-based Noc4hosts Inc., which is in turn owned by the Hi Velocity hosting provider, also based in Tampa (internetnews.com, January 24).

Offering encryption software is not illegal, though al-ekhlaas has been forced to change service providers several times due to objectionable content.

The new technology was first identified by Paul Henry of Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ: SCUR), a San Jose-based company that “provides internet security appliances and software solutions” to “proactively protect enterprises” from web security threats (securecomputing.com). According to Henry, the cyber-jihadis “are concerned with the backdoors in publicly available code... so they decided to write something themselves" (Information Week, January 25).

Judea Pearl on the murder of his son 6 years later

WSJ Today:
The shocking element in Danny's murder was that he was killed, not for what he wrote or planned to write, but for what he represented -- America, modernity, openness, pluralism, curiosity, dialogue, fairness, objectivity, freedom of inquiry, truth and respect for all people. In short, each and every one of us was targeted in Karachi in January of 2002.

No, Judea, you have left off one critical item tightly intertwined with what modern Islam is (and maybe was for all time ..we can take that up with Matthias Kuntzel and Andrew Bostom)
It was through Danny's face that people came to grasp the depth of cruelty and inhumanity into which this planet of ours has been allowed to sink in the past two decades. His murder proved that 9/11 was not an isolated event, and helped resurrect the age-old ideas of right and wrong, good and evil. Moral relativism died with Daniel Pearl in January 2002.
Too many regard that deep as the justice of God though, Judea. Too many think his murder, justice.

And unarmed journalists in regions of conflict became many times more vulnerable. They are no longer perceived as neutral, information-gathering agents, but rather as representing political or ideological entities. The press and media has indeed become more polarized and agenda-driven. Journalists today are pressured to serve the ideologies of those who pay their salaries or those who supply them with sources of information. CNN's admission, in 2003, that it concealed information about the Iraqi regime in order to keep its office in Baghdad is a perfect example of this pressure. In the recent Gaza chaos, Western news agencies have willingly reported Hamas propaganda stunts as truth.
God knows the truth of that last

But then he gets to it, and blandly lays out for all, the real stupidity and excuses of this time we live in.

This was first brought to my attention by the Pakistani Consul General who came to offer condolences at our home in California. When we spoke about the anti-Semitic element in Danny's murder she said: "What can you expect of these people who never saw a Jew in their lives and who have been exposed, day and night, to televised images of Israeli soldiers targeting and killing Palestinian children."

At the time, it was not clear whether she was trying to exonerate Pakistan from responsibility for Danny's murder, or to pass on the responsibility to European and Arab media for their persistent de-humanization of Jews, Americans and Israelis. The answer was unveiled in 2004, when a friend told me that photos of Muhammad Al Dura were used as background in the video tape of Danny's murder.

The Pakistani Consul was right. The media cannot be totally exonerated from responsibility for Daniel's murder, as well as for the "tsunami of hate" that has swept the world and continues to rise.

Ironically, the increase of independent news channels in the Arab world, a process which is generally considered a positive step forward, has contributed significantly to this spread of hatred and violence.

Eager to satisfy their customers' appetite for self-righteousness, these channels have not thought through the harmful, in fact lethal, long-term effects of choreographing victim-victimizer narratives as news coverage.

Surely they have an obligation to expose villainy and excess. This is what journalism is all about. But in a world infected with fanatics who run around with lit matches, journalists cannot simply pour gasoline into the street and pretend they bear no responsibility for the inevitable explosion.

Danny Pearl, the compendium of evil. American, reporter, seeker of reality, JEW.
