TEACHER SACKED FOR WEARING THE VEIL

A MUSLIM teacher has been axed after she insisted on wearing a veil to teach young children.

Aishah Azmi, 24, was asked to take it off in class after pupils said they found English lessons hard to understand because they could not see her lips move.

The junior school in Dewsbury, West Yorks, said she could wear her veil in corridors and the staff room - but must remove it when teaching. Angry Miss Azmi refused, claiming the veil was part of her cultural identity, and was suspended.

A council source said yesterday: "It is ridiculous. How can you teach English to young children with a veil over your face?

There is also another incident that happened in a UK school, the pupil was arrested after being reported to the police, by her teacher for asking to change her learning group because she could not understand the language the other group members were spreaking, the pupil who asked for a move was English

perhaps to validate their cultural sensitivity, the students should be compelled to take a course in veil reading.

To treat this more seriously, it seems that a hidden identity may be tolerated in the public roadways, however in places of living and work, there can be no hidden faces when openness is a simple requiste for mutual human respect.

Traditionally in Western culture, the face mask or hidden identity is a sign of evil intent.

This derives naturally from a history of the KKK and a practice of bandits wearing bandannas over the face to hide identity during crime.

Government employees, law enforcement, front office interviewers, and customs agents can only do their job properly when faces are not concealed.

If this basic tenant of our culture can not be tolerated by some Muslims, then the desire to join and support Canada can not be genuine.

In this case they could be mistaken for the *enemy* and would be more comfortable when returned to their home country. = TG
