Iran Eyes Badges For Jews And Christians

UPDATED AT BOTTOM.

For anyone having problems figuring out whether Ahamdinejad is the new Hitler (for instance, my reason-challenged relatives in Europe), well, here you go:

Human rights groups are raising alarms over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country's Jews and Christians to wear coloured badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims.

"This is reminiscent of the Holocaust," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, the dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. "Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis."

Iranian expatriates living in Canada yesterday confirmed reports that the Iranian parliament, called the Islamic Majlis, passed a law this week setting a dress code for all Iranians, requiring them to wear almost identical "standard Islamic garments."

The law, which must still be approved by Iran's "Supreme Guide" Ali Khamenehi before being put into effect, also establishes special insignia to be worn by non-Muslims.

Iran's roughly 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth.

Ok, so Ahmadinejad is a Holocaust denier, who, at the same time, uses all the methods and rhetoric of Hitler. Still having trouble figuring it out?

UPDATE: Commenter Jordan writes in to say: News update: This actually might not be a true story. There are conflicting reports and the Canadian National Post is trying to sort it out.

Good idea, Gayle.

It would be a good idea for every blogger in the world to post this.

If we still needed confirmation of who Ahmadinejad is, here it is.

Did anyone not see this one coming? The yellow band or sash was the traditional mark of the dhimmi in much of the muslim world until Western clothing became popular for everyone.

By the way, I have just found out, thanks to YouTube commenters, that I am a "Neo-con Zionist Jew Bitch Whore". I'm going to throw a party in honor of my new identity, so please leave me an RSVP. And don't forget, my name has been changed now. I know it's long and all, but you'll just have to deal with it. It ain't easy being a Neo-con Zionist Jew Bitch Whore.

Epa,
LOL.

If Pim's Ghost whispers that in your ear at a, shall we say, strategic time, I guess it'll do it for you, eh?

Pastorius said...

Congratulations are in order, apparently, Pim.

This is it, this is the final sign. The west will not get any more warnings.

If this law passes, and we do not act, we have no excuses.

IMO Ahmadinejad is more dangerous than Hitler because he has the advantage of the PC times in which we are living. We aren't allowed to do half the things we did during WWII. Can you imagine trying to explain the casualties of the Normandy landing or those of the Japanese theatre? No way.

Pastorius said...

Good point, Cubed. Plus, of course, he will have access to nukes, which also makes him more dangerous than Hitler.

Jordan,
Yes, I agree, this is most likely our last sign. And yet, the Christian church is silent.

SILENT!

I am a Christian, who goes to church regularly. I am ashamed of my church, and my fellow parishioners who, for the most part, do not even know what is going on.

I love my Pastor, but I have been telling him for over two years now what was coming, and he only spoke a very few words about it, and that was well over a year ago.

SILENT.

We sill be shamed again. Again we will not have protected our brothers in Yahweh.

Interesting.

Thanks for letting me know.

I've looked at the news accounts. It looks to me as if the story is true, because the reporters and government officials in Canada seem to be getting their info from Iranian diplomats themselves.

Jordan,

We shall see. I can't imagine it will be more than a day before this is confirmed or denied.

Amir Taheri (Al Sharq Al Awsat, and WSJ) says it's true ..see comment in thread above

Well, they said repeatedly that they didn't have any nuclear intentions either....and then it was for "peaceful" purposes when they did get caught in their lie. So, sorry, I'm guessing that this story has some truth to it.

But I'll be happy as all get out if it proves to be 100% baloney.

Good job on the pic, Christine!

Experts doubt reports that Jews will have to wear badges in Iran

By Haaretz Service
(..)
Some Israeli commentators suggested the story still needed to be fully verified, pointing to the fact that the source of the story was Iranian exiles strongly opposed to the regime ruling their country.

Good, I hope it isn't true.

The first sources I read in the Canadian paper were said to have been "Iranian diplomats."

We'll see.
