"20th Hijacker" Zacarias Moussaoui Gets Life in Prison

(No 72 raisins for him)

This was the best possible outcome, and I'm proud of the jury and the relatives of the victims of 9/11. The relatives of the victims almost unanimously agreed that life in prison is the most appropriate punishment. Kudos from a Brit to the American people.

"America you lost, I won" he said as he left the court, and clapped his hands. Call me cynical, but I think he would have said that regardless.

Update: Check out the BBC's biography of Moussaoui

Zacarias Moussaoui was frustrated in France. He felt that his Moroccan Muslim origins were preventing him from achieving his ambitions; he would often complain to his brother that he was the victim of racial discrimination.

The BBC gets to the root cause of this jihad.

His only aim when he first arrived in the UK was to improve his English and further his education. He enrolled at South Bank University where he studied for an MA in International Business Studies.

Bless. He was such nice guy, I'm sure.

i couldn't put it any better than Robert Spencer :

'Moussaoui and John Walker Lindh will now be at the forefront of the noble task of raising up in prison a new generation of mujahedin to carry on their jihad against the Great Satan.'

A firing squad would have been a better outcome.

I can't decide. Under our system, the man deserved to get the death penalty as it stands for punishment for the most heinous crimes, and Moussaoui is guilty of conspiring to commit the greatest crime ever against our nation (aside from Ted Kennedy remaining in the Senate).

I hope he's isolated enough in prison to not have access to people in terms of conversion. Nonetheless, having escaped the death penalty he has also escaped the caveat of "cruel and unusual punishment" and thus someone could potentially pull a Dahmer on him and slaughter him rather brutally in prison. I doubt it, he'll be under the highest security.

But his "martyrdom" is denied, and that does send a message to the "umma" that he cannot be used in this way to condemn us. The Muslim world will probably, however, condemn us anyway as is their wont. I can't wait for reports of "cruelty in prison for Moussaoui" from the usual suspects.

May he be given an all-pork diet.

"he would often complain he was the victim of racial discrimination"

See - he's just a poor victim, like all Muslims. My heart bleeds for him. It's we Crusaders and Zionists who are the guilty ones. Once we stop victimising the Muslims all the freedom-fighting will end and they'll be nice to us just as it says in the Koran.

Let him out on parole now!

I'm glad that his trip to see the virgins has been put on hold. It's probably a disgrace to be a failed martyr so eventhough I would like to see him executed it's worth the tax money to know that he won't be getting an early trip to heaven and will die an ordinary person and not a holy warrior. I would offer him an alternate punishment instead of life in prison. Give him gender reassignment surgery, a burka, and drop him off in Taliban controlled parts of Afganistan. He can be some mullah's new wife. We wouldn't have to pay to keep him up for life and many clerics have said women can not become martyrs.

YEah the virgins are on hold right now...good decision.
With this extra security prison 23hout 24 in a 20 meters jail, nothing else... good for him and I think it was primordial that this bastard doesn't get the firing squad: He would have become a martyre....
