Today, We Are All Parisians

Today, thousands upon thousands of invaders from another country take to our streets to stake their claim to ownership of our country.

Today, thousands upon thousands of illegals hope to intimidate our legislators into conceding defeat, and to further their cause of "retaking their territory."

This strategy, these tactics, are working well for Islam in France, so why not here, in the United States?

Unlike the recent "demonstration" in California, the illegals are NOT carrying the flag of Mexico; that apparently raised too many concerns among the legal inhabitants. Instead, their handlers, which include MECha and ANSWER.com, have instructed them to wear white shirts for "peace," and carry American flags. This, say the handlers, will have a calming effect on the inhabitants of the territories being invaded, making them less responsive.

The Treaty of Hidalgo, signed by both Mexico and the United States in 1848, put an end to the Mexican-American war, and for a mutually agreed upon price of $18,250,000 (about $627,500,000 in today's dollars), gave the United States UNDISPUTED CONTROL of California, Texas, Nevada, Utah, along with parts of Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Wyoming.

Today, it's our Southwestern states; tomorrow, will it be Utah, Colorado and Wyoming? More?

Unlike France, we already have brave and determined citizens; now we need a fence, we need the National Guard along the borders, we need to track and identify who has entered our country, and above all, we need elected officials who will uphold their oaths of office and existing law.

Wouldn't you know it? Congress has beaten tracks out of town.

I keep hearing the news say that the demonstrations will not snarl rush-hour traffic. That's a blatant lie! Everything here snarls traffic.

The demonstrators have been told not to wave the flags of other nations, but they are doing so in Atlanta. Let's see what happens in D.C. with those flags.

Thanks for bringing up the Treaty of Hidalgo. I never hear it mentioned any more.

I rented a few DVD's today--just vacation r&r. But everyone in the store is fed up with this illegals' rights crap. Trust me. The video store is no bastion of conservatism.

I hope that Tom Tancredo proves to be a reliable politician in this case. On the other hand, disasters like John McCain and, as it turns out, Bill Frist too, will have to be voted out by the electorate.

Ditto the above and thanks for info on Hildago Treaty. I need to put that in my blog and on a counter protesting sign! Best wishes..

The Treaty was also a very generous one, especially in light of the times. They whine about what we kept, or "stole" without mentioning that Mexico City could today be an American city. If they want to dupilicate the disastrous hacienda system that has caused so much trouble south of the border, let them keep doing it there. There's a reason we have economic success here, and otherwise they wouldn't come here in the first place. But as Tancredo said about the demonstrations and the anti-Americanism being displayed in the (particularly Californian ones) radicalism there, "It doesn't play well in Peoria".

George Allen and Tom Tancredo, best of luck to them both.

I am afraid that treaties between sovereign countries are only valid as far as the dominant power is still dominant... Have not you read philosopher Espinosa?

Peace comes from pactum, the pact that seals dominion, and dominion can only be retained by force. The right to occupy a territory is based on force, not treaties.

In any case, I would be happy that the USA absorbs as many inmigrants as possible (and no one more). And please, do not compare hispanos with mohamedans.

I am (proud to be) Spanish, of course.

I never compare the many Hispanic immigrant communities in America to the Islamic ones. I do, however, like to point out to those who are ignorant of the situation here ( and I'm not speaking of you at all here, amdg) just how many communities of immigrants and their children we do have in America. There are not just Mexicans, and to view the situation here as such is the ultimate tragedy. I lived for quite some time amongst the Spanish and Cuban immigrant communities in Florida, and they are not very happy with the views of La Raza or any of the other more militant Mexican-American groups. We here in the US must not view all Hispanics here as one group. That is the worst mistake, aside form the tragedy of some on the Left to try and use the Mexican immigrants (in particular) to become a new and permanent underclass in the US. These elitists want Mexican labor, votes and little else in my opinion. They want them to stay subjected and unable to climb the ladder here or achieve the "American Dream". This is what sickens me, the misuse of these immigrants and their subjugation by Anglos who claim to support them, not the immigrants themselves. Except of course those who are desecrating our flag in their protests. If they really feel that way, then they do not belong here. But that goes for anyone, as far as I'm concerned, even natural born citizens.

amdg,

Don't take it so personally; it's the issue of having invaders cross our borders without our consent, in violation of our laws that is the problem.

It doesn't matter whether the illegals are Hispanic, Southeast Asian, or Middle Eastern, Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, or atheist. Quite simply, the massing of illegals on our streets today serves to point out the danger of our policy of looking the other way, our failure to do the obvious, and that is, control who comes into our country. An illegal is an illegal, no matter where he comes from.

Being a Hispanic offers no protection against the fact that one is illegal.

The porous border, which is allowing the unlimited access of Hispanics to our country, also permits "OTMs," some of whom are terrorists, and all the goodies they want to bring in, access to our country.

We have both a right and an obligation to control our borders and our national sovereignty.

We simply cannot afford to act the way the French do.

You go on to say, "I am afraid that treaties between sovereign countries are only valid as far as the dominant power is still dominant... Have not you read philosopher Espinosa?"

First, last I heard, the United States was still a soverign country and American citizens were still dominant in the United States, not the illegals.

Second, I enjoy reading philosophy, but the mere fact that a philosopher says something doesn't mean it's true. I have also read assholes like Plato, Kant, Hegel, Marx, and Engel, but they are full of crap.

This country is still ours, and we'd better start acting like owners.

Amen Cubed. I am sick and tired of all the political correctness! There was Kennedy cheering them on today, oh but he hasn't bother learning the new native language of America, so he had an interpreter. Understanding loud and clear, Bubblehead.

I saw His Bloatedness (aka The Swimmer) holding forth at the rally. Gag!

"Bubblehead?" "His bloatedness?" LOVE THAT!

Huh, my comment before didn't show up. I saw Kennedy with his translator too. Let's make sure that his ideas all remain "dead in the water". Hahaha.
